Sony paid off Square to release it on PS5 exclusively for a year or whatever so its not like they're banking on the sales from the game only. How that amount of money could compare to releasing it on PC to a world-wide audience who doesn't have an "expiry date" on their rotating system with a number written on it, I don't know.

Sure, but real sales are half as good as the remake ones were in the same timeline...you can't deny that, and people weren't all too happy with the story of the remake, so this was expected.

PPL would rather play something else that isnt ps5 exclusive. I cant even think of a PS5 exclusive that performed that much better than rebirth and 16. Spiderman which was considered a great game accross the board and won some awards at the VGS, how much did it sell? only 2.5m copies.
That’s a bummer I put like 130hrs into FF7 Rebirth. I loved it and thought it was masterful but I’m just thankful that they made it and will buy the 3rd one.
I think it’d be a shame if they skip reviewing it because it’s easily GOTY potential and that’s underselling it, they don’t know what they’re missing out on!

I have been talking up the quality of ff7rb and my brother wants to play but doesn’t have a ps5 so he has to wait. Its funny that ff7 was the reason we bought a ps1 but at the time the console was only $150.
Probably very niche and not something you guys would cover, but LittleBigPlanet got its servers shut down after 16 years of Community content, due to hackers, and without a real warning or time to download everything. A lot of people are saddened and furious about this, even the OST composer (who is the Spider-Verse composer) spoke about this. People compared it to the Library of Alexandria (sounds ridiculous but a LOT of content is just gone). It's a bit like if RU-vid removed all of its videos.
@SpikeTheWolf I'm not too sure about it all, but the first 2 games got officially shut down some time ago, due to hackers and Sony (or whoever) not being able to fix the servers. LBP 3 was the only game people could play to access their old levels. That got hacked in January, the peeps running the servers said they would fix it, they then announced a few days ago that they are officially shutting the servers down indefinitely. There are rumors of LBP 4, but nothing even close to official.

FF7 Rebirth is one of those games where everyone knows it's a fantastic game but Square has been having issues lately due to making them all timed gated exclusives and pc players having to wait an entire year (which always kills hype) it's something that needs to change. There's a reason FF15 sold as well as it did. It released on both consoles at launch.
I mean, FF7 Rebirth is not only a sequel, it is literally part 2, which means their only audience to begin with are people who played through the first part. Played through as in actually played through, not just bought and then never touched. Playing Rebirth before playing the first game would be like reading a book from the middle.
As for ff7, there were so many big jrpgs that were released around the same time, such as Like a Dragon, Dragon's Dogma, and Unicorn Overlord, that I figured I would get to it eventually.

If Square Enix wanted sales then they should have released the game on all platforms from the start. Most people like myself will wait for the Steam release just to own all three games on one platform.
There's multiple reasons why Rebirth has low sales. 1. There's nowhere near as many ps5 as ps4 that remake had. 2. Rebirth only has a 3 month console exclusivity. A decent amount of people are probably waiting for the PC version. 3. Square has been making some bad games and with all their NFT talk. Makes people not have faith in them. 4. The game had some really annoying issues at launch. I'm sure a bunch of people are waiting until those are fixed. 5. Square keeps making their biggest games exclusive to playstation. It's a stupid move to keep expensive triple A games to one console. There's no way Sony is paying more than what the PC and xbox version would've made them.

@@mattwiper The game is really blurry on performance mode. Especially in Costa Del Sol. They somewhat fixed the blurriness after a update. The lighting can make characters look creepy at certain points. I feel like I missed out on this game because of how bad it can look at times. I definitely want to play the PC version when it comes out. Playing it at max settings will make it look so much nicer.

He’s constantly complaining about his workload but looking at the content being released it seems very low effort. Not inherently a bad thing since moist critical has extremely low effort content. We are missing out on so many reviews for huge games. I know time is limited but I would enjoy a sit down review like their movie reviews over no review at all. I would have loved to see these three guys talk about final fantasy 7 especially Alex. Even if it isn’t a full review…I’ll even take a sit down impressions video from them.
FF7R was a fantastic game. It really was. Sadly, youre right, it was completely undermarketed and kinda stealthed itself into the market and noone noticed. But i cant stress enough, its a very very good game.
A lot of fans are mad about the stupid timeline changes they did as they wanted a proper remake that was faithful which SE said it would be only to pull this crap and angered fans.

I’m still really huge fan of Final Fantasy & after Final Fantasy VII Remake I was really looking forward to both Final Fantasy XVI & Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Those are probably two of the games that had me most excited for what is now current hardware in the first place. the issue for me is that I still don’t have a PS5. During the PS4 era I felt like money was a little bit easier to come by for more luxuries such as gaming. I had two PS4’s during that time, but now it’s hard to justify a $500 purchase plus the additional $140 for two games. I think this is the year that I will make that purchase but even then with the PS5 Pro specs leaking it would be careless of me not to wait until that comes out to future proof my purchase. I also think the naming of the game was a bit poor, but I do think there was a pretty decently sized marketing push for that game, in my town alone with the population of about 500,000 I drive past three Final Fantasy VII themed billboards daily. I think this is the situation where the fans will probably get a hold of it more once it comes to, once it goes on cell, or even like me when they finally get into PlayStation’s current gen ecosystem. I was living at home when the PS4 came out, it was easy to work a job and afford every game & console almost immediately when it came out. now, I am nearly in my 30s with a lot more responsibilities and things that take precedent over gaming & with the cost of living being so high, it makes more sense to wait to jump into this current generation until the price of things go down or the value of what you get for that price goes up. I am so excited to play the newest installment to Final Fantasy, but I will have to wait until it makes financial sense.

Im pretty sure FF VII Rebirth will do fine once its released for PC. Same for FF XVI. Im still waiting for it to release on PC, not going to go out and buy a PS5 just to play a few games, even if they are ones ive been looking forward to for so long.
yeah PS5 is still a bit low in the adoption rate even if its easier to get, many people shifted to PC. Also the price is pretty high when people are pretty broke right now. Great game, but its not one you NEED to get right this moment.
Most of their recent big budget titles had been major flops. And SE stocks been on the steady decline, so yeah, its not a good sign for the company. Their smaller projects (Octopath, Triangle Strategy, Star Ocean etc) had been selling well, but I don't think its enough to generate profit for a company such as SE.
@@DorothyWayneright5 Yeah, i agree. Many of my friends and I were hyped for 16, but none of us own a PS5, then release came and went with no sign of a PC release, and that hype dissappeared. As for 7 Rebirth, i havent heard anything about it in any advertisements, news, through friends, etc.. I think they must have missed the marketing a bit. Dont know what happened there.
Being an exclusive may hurt it but the game probably wouldn’t have sold well with how it’s structured, how over hyped it was, people don’t really be playing a lot of games, and the sells shows most games making money is old multiplayer games…

I enjoyed 76 more without npcs I think, at least the story was really unique and creepy with the holotapes. I like it now but that initial version was cool imo.
FF7 made a huge mistake chopping up the story and pricing so high. I don't want to pay top dollar and play a game over 7 years waiting for all parts to be released. No interest in starting that stuff until it's all out and playable for a fair price.

Midgar did not need to be 50 hours long, Junon and surrounding areas did not need to be 120 hours long. The story, cutscenes and fight gameplay are awesome, everything is just boring and so is the world.

I’m old and I played the original ff7 when it came out. I bought the remake pt 1 and was so disappointed with the padded and changed elements of the story. Throw that on top of it’s gameplay being changed into more of a fast paced mobile action game, I was out. Credit where credit is due the voice acting really was a personal joy to hear what these characters sounded like in my head 20 some odd years ago.
FF7 Rebirth sold perfectly fine--there were 110 million PS4s sold when FF7 Remake released on PS4. PS5 sales were less than half of that when Rebirth came out. You do the math--Square Enix is never satisfied unless they make all the money.
I mean the sales are fine but they wanted a huge success like everyone was talking about it even your momma but dint because first not everyone owns a PS5 second not everyone is familiar or fan final fantasy.
I have been in 76 for 2 years and the game today, is what it was 2 years ago. It’s just taken this shows popularity to get the haters to FINALLY stfu about the bad launch of 76. The addition of the “enclave remnants” quest to standard FO4 really changes the dynamic of the game, especially in survival mode. You will often come across battlefields where super mutants, raiders, Enclave, BOS, institute, rogue robots, Rust Devils were slugging it out. Crazy stuff.
Even the Fallout 4 Nexus mods site experienced problems for a few days which it explained was due to heavy traffic after the show launched. Wonder how the player figures will look after Bethesda breaks our mods on the 25th?
I don't think it helps that Square ALWAYS goes exclusive with their titles. I get doing it often, but Square does it so often that any hype I could have doesn't exist, so I wait for it to go to PC, and EVEN THEN, I end up waiting for a sale years down the line because... Again, all my excitement went down the drain. It's stupid to do that with a title that already doesn't have a lot of wind in it's sails. Which the second part of their game definitely didn't.
Was hoping for an outsiders perspective on FF7 Rebirth. No Helldivers 2, Dragons Dogma 2 or Rebirth review but we get a review for such low hanging fruit like Suicide Squad that we all know sucks. Joe has been quite a letdown in 2024.
Tbh, just look at the one review he did 11 years ago for Dragon's Dogma 1 and it would still apply for DD2. Jokes aside, love Dragon's Dogma 2, but it has many of the same issues of the first title.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was really good in my opinion. So much stuff to do, great combat, awesome side content, fun exploration, incredible music, great voice acting and a memorable story It does have flaws like some dumb minigames. But the good things overshadow the bad ones for me
Ff7 remake came out during covid, it was the first game and A LOT of people bought it to see what it was like. Not everyone liked it obviously and didnt buy Rebirth. Understandable..... Its still a 10/10 also potentially game of the year.
And there were over double the amount of PS4s sold when Remake came out. This is such a non-story. It's just Square Enix with their typical saying stupid shit about sales.
I liked the combat and presentation of Remake, but I didn't like that a game called Remake and advertised as a remake wasn't actually a remake, but a weird timeline/multiverse-sequel that assumed I already knew the plot of FF7 (I'm a complete newcomer to Final Fantasy, so I didn't).
@@matthewmuir8884 I think 90% of the game and story is true to og, and iirc they don't introduce the "timeline altering" until later in the game. It's the first of a trilogy of remakes(retelling) givng you the story from beginning to end.. so please refresh my memory as to when the game assumes you know the story of og? Because If you don't know og it doesn't change a thing.

The Whispers clearly going out of their way to make the plot adhere closer to FF7's plot (something I noticed due to a combination of knowing bits of FF7's plot from pop-cultural osmosis and being familiar with a lot of different storytelling tools). 3. Basically everything involving Sephiroth towards the end of FF7Remake. 4. Cloud suddenly having a premonition of Aerith's death. If you remove og from the equation, the story of remake is not that complicated and anyone with a basic capability of critical thinking can understand it. Ff7 rebirth wasn’t even in the top 25 games sold recently. You know that’s a flop. PlayStation players was playing cod, Fortnite, helldivers and sports games. They only like multiplayer games with micro transactions

Keanu getting announced as the next Shadow definitely sparked a creative rush on RU-vid. Seriously, I've never seen so many Shadow animations spliced with Keanu's acting in my life. The problem is, everybody was hyped for years ago for Final Fantasy seven remake and yes more people had PS4 and PS5 but the problem is the momentum hopped about three years ago and now they’re trying to get that momentum back. You need to release the games and quick succession if you want them to be successful, specially once with such complicated story

The cool thing about Baldurs Gate 3 was they made a game with a game. I honestly believe part of why the game was so good is because D&D is fun to play already. Then Larien put there own mechanics like they did in Divinity and it was great. I'm curious how Larian will make a new game without the D&D rule set.

My wife literally got me a Ps4 for the first remake.. then it got delayed again and again.. Im not going to purchase another $500 console(4 years later and no price drops too) for a singe game.. I can't even guarantee theyll end the damn series on the same console.
Not all console players play cod and sports. I, for one, play a lot of different games. FFVII Rebirth, Sand Land coming soon, Stellar Blade, Robocop Rouge City, and many more games. I haven't played cod since black ops 1 only for zombies and never played sports games

ff7 rebith sold half as much as remake, but its only on ps5 that has over half the install base as the ps4 had with remake. also the sales numbers are for physical only. Sony done deals for remake bundle with rebith digital ,so expect a lot of sales went on the digital side. Still SE will always be disappointed with the sales of all there games.
I was playing baulders gate 3 the other day, and it crashed. My pc became unresponsive, the game kept opening and closing and the fans started going really fast. This has happened on cities skylines 2, warhammer total war 2 and 3, rome total war 2. Just wanted to post this because I've looked up solutions, and nothing worked, hoping someone in the AJS community could help
Making any comment on FF7 sales is pure misinformation, you should know better Joe. There’s zero official information available on Rebirth sales. I can sit here and say Rebirth sold 100 million copies and it’d be just as valid and accurate as what that article said.
Yknow, you are right. This is actually true. No official figures have been released. We know it's underperformed in Japan that's all. But either way, the game is good, and I'm just disappointed in Joe that his Number 4 most hyped game for the year he isn't even going to review instead opting for Skull and f***ing Bones.
@@AK-gs6wr the only reputable information available currently is that Rebirth has sold 402,000 physical copies in March in Japan. Making it the best selling physical game for March (in Japan). And physical sales are only a tiny fraction of total game sales these days.
My issue with fr7 is the amount of tedious minigames. I made it halfway thru the game and I’m just done with minigames. I just want to hack and slash monsters and explore.

Maybe for s2 they'll get better writers who can write a good story that has basic continuity in one season (and fixes the many writing issues of s1), cause s1 didn't have any of that. The Fallout show is just meh, in my opinion. It looks good and has good moments, but overall is sub-par. If you like it, good for you but I'm not going to tune in for the next season.

Indeed. I'm a newcomer, and I bought FF7Remake thinking that a full-overhaul remake of FF7 would be a perfect starting point. Instead, I got a timeline/multiverse reimagining that assumed I already knew the plot of FF7.
The reason why FF7:Rebirth isn't selling well isn't because of marketing, but rather simply because they made it a PS5 exclusive. Once they port it to PC and Xbox One, they'll recoup the sales easily.
I'm really disappointed that Joe is not reviewing FF7 Rebirth. I was looking forward to getting his opinion about the game. Hopefully Alex can make a rapid review.
Ive personally put in 52hrs into Fallout4 on steam since watching the show lol. Ive tech owned this game for years (on xbox) but never finished it. This time around I actually took the time to learn how to build settlements (still hate'em) and took the time to figure out how to build my char the way I wanted and listened to the story. Very much enjoyed the base game and plan to start NukaWorld or FarHarbor today. Eventually I wanna move over to Fo3/NV and play those (most likely with the mod that combines the games).
Alex. If you’re sick of Magic, you should try Flesh and Blood TCG. It was created by a veteran pro Magic player. He cares about the community and player base. It’s the antithesis of the greedy wizards of the coast. It’s a perfect time to jump in! The game is better than ever.
