cs_italy's painting at 5:20 is Jan van Eyck's "Virgin and Child with Canon van der Paele" which has been edited to add in the sheep that's, by the author's admission, intended to make it look like the saint is fornicating with the livestock. The inclusion of the sheep was meant as a reference to both authors' CS clan at the time known as HOTSHEEP. There's a video around detailing the origins of both Italy's sheep and chicken.
The fact that all the maps are made by people that come from so many walks of life makes it so endearing its a cohesive whole with many indovidualistic parts. I just love having something as balanced as dust2 coexisting with Estate ^^
6:45 DDT is a russian/soviet rock band. The graffiti features exact same style as the logo of the band. Considering creator of the map being a man of post-soviet descent its not really surprising the easter egg is there
The painting in cs_italy is a part of the Ghent altar piece, a rather impressive triptych painted in 1432, kind of considered one of, if not the best examples of what is rather unfortunately called "The Flemish Primitives" (not because their work looked primitive, but rather because these artists pretty much were the first to use proper perspective, kickstarting the Renaissance in the arts). I would strongly recommend anyone to check it out, it's a very impressive piece.
3:43 Those banners were not in original release. Valve made in-game ads, I remember TF2 also being one of ads shown, the images would change each map change. I think I remember the ads were also placed in the loading menu's as well when connecting to a server and during map changes.
in aztec a thunder will sound the moment the terrorist go over the bridge. its not only an easteregg but also a little helper for the CTs who often just went to spot B and leaving alone spot A.
Going through the secrets of the default maps is quite fun and you did a great job on that one my dude. Now, you should cover the deleted maps or talk about previous versions of the maps since you brought up Aztec and Inferno from CS1.5.
8:53 when I was a kid I couldn't figure out how to trigger those planes. Back than I only played with podbot who will run into the trigger doors (since bots are technically players) to witness this to happen.
@@fayabraguette Yeah. Sadly the latest version of podbot is just awful. They still retain the original 'melee attacks' at point blank range at max difficulty. But they just move so slow when C4 is planted.
Actually, de_dust had an easter egg... In 3:04 the small building with no windows had an easter egg inside. It was a "smarties tube" with orange color.
my favorite part of this was remembering of all the old maps i used to play when i was little, i didn't have internet so i would always play with bots and infinite money, so its a big nostalgia trip for me to remember all of these maps, i would remember them from time to time but i always thought they were part of a mod i had or something (i wanst the one who installed the game) and its great to know they were part of the game and not some random mod. one map thar i remember but didn't see in the video was one that had a house surrounded by red terrain like nuke and a underground tunnel, not sure if it is the map siege edit: the map I was thinking about was siege
Dude I can't believe you missed out on the chopper blades on as_oilrig. That was the first thing I tried along with that map that had a dam and a jungle or something.
I love the dogs barking specially because of cs_backalley... I always remember playing it in my childhood when I hear a dog barking at distance. Also, pretty sure I've seen something weird in either cbble or inferno, I remember finding a "room" beneath ground level which was basically a black box. I think it was beneath T spawn in cbble.
Dunno if someone said it but train has also other sound triggers.... When you get intop of a train the jet sound happens and I forgot but ivy had one too, maybe the jet also. Also dunno what u said in your aztec video but there used to be lethal trigger with very low chance that a lightning hit you in the stairs, later only being sound trigger.
In the beta's (Beta 5.2 i think) de_dust had a photo of Dave Johnston below the map/ in one of the crates - can't remember exactly. He had a Smarties tube in his mouth as a cigar. Not sure why i remember that after 20 years.
Good video. I suggest you take a look at your audio mixing levels, it would have been nicer for the games audio to be louder, specially hearing the sound Easter eggs like the dog's bark

I miss that time of CS 1.3 ~ 1.5, the ones I played most. The easter eggs in de_torn are really cool !! Too bad that people used to dislike that map, I rarely played on that map because people always complained "I don't know how to play in this map!".
cs_backalley has an other easteregg if I remind it, next to the vents there is a locked door and also have Popdog vending machines at 5:23, it's a parody of a painting, in which they added that badass sheep at 9:35, it is random, it does not triggers when people are here, it was also a legend that if people where in "heaven" position, the soundqueue will play but it isnt
Great video brings back memories, you missed de_dust used to have a giant tub of Smarties (food) below ct spawn/sniper in an earlier version of the map but was later removed, should check it out. Great videos as always!
It was a great video ! You should do a other one about Hidden secrets from previous official map like Vegas or Rotterdam, or well know community map also. Or even more obcure less know map if they have intresting thing to show of.
So much map triggers missing... Survivor got the wolf sound when u go up the ramp after the secret towards the bomb site. Train got a plane sound when you are heaven & birds whistle when you move in ivy... 😎Playing his for +20 years now... Shit we are old everyone... 😂
I always wondered why 1.6 version of Nuke had "clone/fake bomsite B", never really thought about it being bombsite C and especially about cs_nuke??? That would be strange too
when siege had the vehicle, you could clip it through the corner of a building and drive it in the tunnel. also, in hostage maps i think before 1.5, you could place them just right in certain corners of walls and they would walk vertically. all the way up to the sky. you could do this on militia behind ct spawn.
in de_torn, there's a street name called ATATURK, name references to the father of Turks. Founder of Republic of Turkey, also the first ever president of the Republic of Turkey. One of the street names is "ISTIKLAL" meaning "independence, freedom, liberty" in English. It is a famous street in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. Getting the attention from all the tourist visiting Istanbul. Also, the street has one of the oldest tram systems built in Istiklal Street. Those blue eyes placed on above the door entrances is a cultural reference for Turkish people. It's a common belief there, one may jynx, curse, etc., (_nazar değdirmek_ in Turkish) something with a glimpse. Therefore the main purpose of those blue eyes is to capture the attention of the people as the blue eye has a colourful tone which makes it the first noticeable thing in the area.
NO dust2 is not based on that TF2 alpha map... That MAP on 3:10 is "SD_DURANDAL" from the mod FIREARMS that valve copied it for TF2 alpha ideas. PS_Desertcrisis is a 1999 map from Firearms, Older than CounterStrike is, as Firearms Half-Life was from 1998 released after half life1... That screenshot is from FIREARMS not Team Fortress 2 alpha valve just uded firearms on the BEGINNING as the base for a realistic Team Fortress that never came out. Firearms was an awesome mod, way better than counter strike and Team Fortress, and still the most realistic soldier simulator.

Heyyy, awesome video bro!!! Just wondering, could you do all the different agent skins across cs but not including csgo, you could do another video for that 🤓....? What I mean: like in deleted scenes, there are different types of the green CT model/agent, one being the desert camo (green CT model) where they rescue you and that injured sniper from the crashed Blackhawk in the opening mission of Cs:deleted scenes. Would love to see that becoming a video! 🗿😎
Pretty sure there's an airplane sound that plays whenever you stick around in Heaven on de_train I think Aztec also had a small chance to strike a deadly lightning near A site.

Does anyone know: On the map de_frost on bombsite A there is a wooden door in the corner. Out of the door you can hear some kind of club music. That is a really cool song. What is that song - does anyone know?
Is nice to see again this kind of community, nowadays games don't have the amount of freedom for modding or map making, instead it's solely focused on competitive play. I can sense people having fun at the time of creating those maps. I remember a long time ago a random person searching for a mapper so he can make his real life work office, golden era of games. Edit: Adding to this, it's important to mention that if any AA+ game have any creative tools at all, the modding community is solely focused on the seriousness/balancing of maps instead of actually playing every random map possible and have a new random experience.
U missed an easter egg on de_train If u climb the ladder on heaven at A bombsite, there would be an airplane sound on whole map i think At least this sound gives info that there a CT on Heaven at A, it works in pugs
Vertigo map kinda looks similar to a Unreal Tournament 1999 DM-map Morpheus . Chateau map looks somewhat similar to the level you need to kill a German General in a castle in the game Return to Castle Wolfenstein .
The plane in de_survivor I think is a reference to a plane crash in the mountains Andes (dunno how to spell it). The only big thing that happened was cannibalism... Not kidding look it up
