the amount of work he need to be done is underrated...1st line, power play, penalty kill, throwing bodys almost every shift, can stand for himself or a teammate, can score and pass as well. One of my favourite players on the ice nowadays

@@Ngr8K People just don't understand how rounded a player Wilson has developed into. He can score, he is fast and hits hard, he makes great passes, can protect his teammate. And you nailed it, PP and PK special team. They just think well it's Wilson so he must have been playing like a jerk again. It is not true these days.

And the part of his game that has improved the most is his skating. He is a very rare talent.

His passing skills as well as his ability to find "soft areas" to receive a pass or shot pass for a deflection is also overlooked. He works hard in practice on "net area" tips and deflections.

His ability to blindside players is excellent Must have an impressive concussion-rate on his hits

He's also fearless. He was willing to fight Chara. Nobody fights Zdeno Chara... except Tom Wilson.

Comparing these two (Reaves/Wilson) is like comparing Donald Brashear to Brendan Shanahan. Reaves is a great fighter and "Hit" guy who should never be considered for a Top 6 role. It took Wilson a few years to realize some untapped potential but I don't think he has hit his ceiling yet either.

They just don't make em like Tom Wilson. He does so many things out there. I kind of miss the reckless Wilson but this newer more disciplined one also helps out a lot on offense. Rare breed indeed.

One more thing here on Wilson. After his Pre Season hit on Sundqvist and suspension many were making ridiculous comments about him being kicked out the league because of "all the players' careers that have ended because of his dirty play." I responded with: "If you haven't seen him play live you should before suggesting something so asinine! We all love the physical play and energy he brings to the game. What the league needs is an adjusted Wilson because he is a multi-talented beast who can play in all situations including the late 3rd period lead protection he provides. This league would be much better off with an adjusted Wilson than without Wilson at all." Now he's cleaned it up considerably and he's beating the Wilson hate club on the scoreboard rather than physical punishment. They asked for it!

But the bigger problem for me is that Wilson knew he could ragdoll our 11 million dollar star after crosschecking our top goal scorer into the Garden basement. My Rangers lack toughness. Still, I think that is interference if not boarding since the puck is not there. I am not sure if it exceeds 0.8 sec to define as interference. And I am a caps fan. I would say it is a penalty when Joe B and Craig called it immediately. Most of the time they are fair.

That is why every time there is a potential late hit, people talks about how it is interference or not because NHL never gives full definition of the thing which they could clearly do better than this. I just heard from everywhere talking about late hit ranging from 0.5 sec to 1.5 sec. I don't know what is the definition. I just put a number there so that it is a visible measurement of how a hit can be a late hit. And judging from what you have said about the "legal hit", you clearly have no idea what interference is.
