I’m not a cobbler and I don’t expect I’ll ever work on a pair of shoes however, I find the work you do fascinating. Your craftsmanship is outstanding. If people get triggered by your videos, they should go watch a cake getting frosted.
I watched my wife frost our wedding cake and I assure you Steve has not said or done anything to compare with that. I've been a truck driver for 20 years and I heard words and phrases that evening I'd never heard before lol
While I’m watching this video, I get a telephone call from Steve about a pair of shoes I sent him.! We had a chuckle over that. Love the videos and the craftsmanship.
We all stand here today in memory of a great friend of Steve's. Ye Olde Burner kept Steve going for many a year, providing steaming hot coffee where no other burner could. He will be sorely missed for ever more. ⚰ RiP
gotta say that is some beautiful leather, would've been a real shame if the customer had decided to stick em under the bed cuz those staples. now they're F1 Bedos!
If people find the prices too steep, well nobody forces you to have it repaired by Steve, but from what I see, he does more than he should do. If someone delivers quality that will take you much longer in order to repair again then it's worth it. If I had shoes that cost me 100 dollar and they would end up crap after a year then I wouldn't repair them. If they cost me 300+ and I wore them 4 years I would do it. My shoes end up dead after 2 years max, because I walk a lot and I walk fast so more wear and tear. I can appreciate someone talents and it takes years to become this good , it goes for any trade, people want great service and excellent job for zilch. If you want to be cheap, just diy.
This is more of a tribute than you know. You have done more difficult and substantial work, but these boots really show off who you are and your talent. Cudos to the patron who knew who would do these boots justice. These stand out and are ALL BECAUSE OF YOU. These are steam punk on classy steroids, and I'm 62 next month. Bravo
I have to admit I wondered how your poor finger got smashed and I thought, I bet that hurt bad. I was picking my brain to come up with what some viewer might have had a problem with, oh well it takes all kinds. Keep up the videoing you crack me up 😆 I love it. I needed the break from what’s going on here in the US. I’ve watched another cobbler out of the USA and nowhere the attention to detail you have. Your cork goes out to the edge so the wearer doesn’t feel that gape with their little toe, you cut for the toe plate before you stitch the leather sole on, you use a shoe tree to help smooth the badly wrinkled worn leather might have a reset, and before you adhere a rubber piece to the shoe you don’t tear up the leather sole underneath. All of your attention to detail sets you heels and toes above the rest and your price truly is equal to your quality work.
Beautiful job😍👍 Much better than the factory model‼️ Steve, keep these awesome video’s coming our way & don’t let the people that are jealous of your amazing skills bring you down, so many of us think you’re marvelous 😉👍🥾🤎🥾
If people don’t like your prices, the won’t give you custom. Simple as. It seems to me that you get plenty of people who are in need of your skills (which are incredible, by the way) and are happy to pay your prices. Try not to take it personal and thank you for sharing your work with us (from the UK). I always watch one of your vids before going to bed, they’re a great wind-down from the day and listening to you talk is very relaxing. Keep up the fantastic work & thank you 🙂
You should do some live streams sometime I’m sure people would love to see things getting done in real time and its like we’d be able to hang out with you in the shop while your working...
wish i could learn this kind of work to make it worth acquiring the tools and equipment. I've tried every cobbler/shoe repair place in the area, noone is hiring or could afford any help. So here I sit just conditioning and shining my allen edmonds thrift finds for sale on ebay, with an occasional scratch repair. Being able to re-welt some boots like these would be really awesome.
Another beautiful job Steveroo... Those A. E.'s are standing tall now...! When somebody can do the quality of work you can do, then they can charge what they want, but not many, if any, can...! Greg... IN
I've been going over some of your videos for some time now. The work quality speaks for itself. And I absolutely love the spirit. Please, let's trigger some more people :D
Please know the work you do makes your customers and the viewers very happy. Also, you should teach the trade if you don’t. I think you’d be an excellent teacher and mentor.
Not F2 anymore ! Great Job Steve this is probably my fifth time watching this over the last year and I rarely comment, but I figured since I’ve decided to watch it this many times I better comment
I love the personality you bring to these videos. Don't take the negativity personal - you know what they say "hater gonna hate". Your content really makes me wish there was more focus on trades and artisanal crafts in the 80's when I was growing up. College this, college that... I could have been a cobbler!
Steve - I enjoy watching your videos. You are a true professional in your craft. It is nice of you to discuss how much you charge for each job that you do. You shouldn’t be concerned with those who say you charge too much. This is a niche market and not everyone is going to look to get shoes repaired. In life, not everything revolves around money. I understand that many pieces have sentimental value to the owner and perhaps have been part of many happy memories. Please stay true to yourself - everyone has something to say. We all know that there isn’t 1 person that can please everyone. Looking forward to many more videos.
When you brought out the mini-lug and said you would be adding these to the boots, I thought, "ugh." Then I saw the new welt; the lugged sole fits perfectly!
Caramba!!!! My god!!! You make it look so easy that I was tempted to redo... "Bedo style" an old pair abandoned around... Thanks for your time to show those details... Big salute from Bolivia- South America
The craftsmanship and quality of the work is top notch. I like the look of the original welt and the dark color of the original sole and edge dressing. It gives the boot a more dressier look. On the other hand, the split welt and lighter edge dressing gives the boot a more every day casual look.
WOW, not just a repair, but a VAST improvement over the original disposition! And that toe flaw...good save! Now only be seen if one is looking for it...way at the end of this guy's leg!
Steve, truly care about customer service, quality of service and the shoes/boots. With so many glued on shoes, you definitely bring the true art form of shoe repair. People don’t realize you are doing it all by hand?? 🤦♂️
Love your work man - showed a friend of mine (who lives in the DC area) your videos a while back and he actually brought some shoes in for you to repair. Of course you did a phenomenal job!!! True craftsman - God Bless!!!
Beautiful work as always. Remember it is the little things you do such as fixing the toe and cutting the angle on the mini lug that make you a true craftsman who is not only proud of his work but enjoys it and those are 2 things that are rare to find these days. You seem to always go the extra mile with the repairs you make and that is what people are paying for
I appreciate your attention to detail. How many times have we seen you do extra work just to “do the right thing”. As for your prices, if people are willing to pay for great craftsmanship, you can charge for quality work. My mind goes back to the lady almost in tears with her “new” slippers. She had an obvious emotional attachment to the memory of what it meant to get them back like new.
My father and ancestors in Labrador (Canada) were fishermen. When measuring ropes and fishing line with arms fully extended like you did with your sewing twine, it is said to be one fathom (approximately). Old time fisherman common terminology. (NICE JOB ON THEM BOOTS AS USUAL!)
Magical as always. Allen Edmonds must hate selling shell cordovan at a discount due to a flaw in assembly. No matter, you fixed it and the boot is now better. Surprised the customer did not ask you to trim the edges off the vibram lugs as is so often done. Looking forward to your next project.
The work done here... my God I would pay $400 for that in a heartbeat. You sir, I would be honored to have you repair my White's when they need work. Great job.
Well done Steve. Loved the repair job you just did. As for prices - man oh man - just inserted that for the benefit of the triggerfish hehehe. Prices are fair and set up between you and the customer. Nobody else. Just you two. Cracking job sir. Looking forward to the next one. Shine on
They were a stunning pair of boots and like always a stunning job being a boot and shoe lover I can appreciate the time and effort that goes into making and redesigning classy boots like those Allen Edmond
IMHO the boots were a little plain before the resole, but they became something really beautiful afterwards. The slight contrast between the uppers and the heel and sole made them come to life! Very nice!
While I was watching I was thinking the black welt was too striking and looked out of place assuming the sole would be black as well. But when you went with the dyed sole and the strata of all the different leather layers came out - it's a really striking shoe. Amazing artistry as always Steve!
Awesome job as we all expect and enjoy watching. Personally, I like the split welt on those boots. Gives it a little something extra. If I’m ever in the area, it would be an honor to have a cup of coffee with you.
Great craftsmanship and pride in your work Steve. Charge whatever you can get since it requires a special skill and experience to get something to turn out that beautiful.
