Mick and Sam filming never disappoint. Still cant beat the old school holden 202, 253 and 308. Thank you guys for your time to make these videos to share your knowledge. Love new engines but got the old school engines in the blood.
@@MSEngines You guys are going a great job, I would drive my 5.7ltr to Mick for a complete rebuild from Sydney in a trailer. Would love to see a Ls1 complete rebuild from start to finish. Keep it up gents love it 🙏
What are the chances of replacing these problematic alloy tech engines back to the good old eco tech 3.8 vs engine basically going backwards to a more reliable engine. I see so many good cheap vehicles for sale with (needs timing chains done)
LIke the LIM gaskets on the Ecotecs, not sure how Holden got away with this chain issue. Should of been a recall or class action at the least......people are still paying for these things unfortunately. Holden obviously didn't learn from the crappy chain tensioner dud on the Eco's. All round poo design.
Look, I did mine according to the GM service manual, the bible so to speak, it does not say blah blah blah, it says, the timing chains must be timed to the two separate timing marks on the oil pump, ie at 5 oclock / 8 oclock, that is why they are there, this engine has 2 stages of timing, you just put the chains on using the 8 oclock mark and disregarded the GM manual completely, bottom line either GM or you are wrong, no ifs or buts. I have had no issues with following the GM engineer's instructions, no misses and the engine runs like new. I would have liked to have seen your engine started up and heard the misses or worse the valves interfering with the pistons etc as other have by following this lazy procedure that is just wrong. Do it by the book, it isn't hard and it won't mean you have to go back in or worse look for a new motor. Very easy job to do if you just follow the GM manual.
You wasted your time even the dealers do it this way LOL Following the manual was your first mistake and commenting on here like a know it all was your second. Replying to this will be your third :)
the LFX and LLT are good engines. I’ve always maintained the ly7 (the first one) is the sole reason boomers and ignorant Ford fanboys think every alloytech is sh*t
