In this video about Budget VE Performance I explain the parts and modifications needed to make a dyno proven over 400rwhp and over 1000ft-lbs of torque from an Intercooled Dodge First Gen. This truck is fully capable of daily driving and working hard as it regularly pulls my dual tandem goosneck loaded with a gross weight of 25-30K lbs. Note you will not be able to use the 400hp all of the time as egt and cooling system issues will limit it to somewhere around 300hp for sustained power but bursts over 400 will be no problem. The turbo recommended is after testing dozens of HX35-40 configurations as well as s257, s259, and the venerable 62mmS300 stuff. The 300g I have found is the best compromise between spoolup, power, durability, and egt control. A Pyrometer is highly recommended if you will be pulling a trailer. ‪@pddofficial‬ ‪@AreaDieselService‬ ‪@DieselPowerSource‬

It's been fun watching your journey with the VE trucks. I remember back in 2000 or so watching the hp wars with the ve. I remember breaking 300, 350, 400 then when you blew the internet up with the 600 plus pull. The early 2000's were the best times for diesel enthusiasts I think.

Hardly any aftermarket parts available back in those days. You really had to work with the stock stuff and modify it to make it do what it wasn't supposed to do. The crew cab is a much more refined 400+hp than old yellow was. The smoke level and driving manners are much more like a new truck with good throttle response and no idle haze. Old Yellow will be making a comeback though. 🙂

I put the s300G on my 89 several years ago. I am at 300 hp to the wheels but have the 727 so that is not bad. Pretty close to runaway with the stock non ic sticks. That is not a horrid price. I paid about a grand for mine long ago. I am on the original head gasket, and bolts so I don't push it any harder. Pretty fun at the power it has. I put the 99 all aluminum power stroke intercooler in at the same time.

Do you have any tricks to keep the little fuel pin that rides against the AFC fuel pin from sticking. Mine starts sticking once the motor gets up to full temp, when the motor is still cold it seems fine. I’ve taken it apart and tried several types of grease and oils on the pin. After a couple thousand miles it starts sticking again. I can tell because the truck will make 35lbs of boost fairly easily when it’s free, when it’s sticking it only builds about 20lbs, unless you put it to the floor. Thanks

I had literally just unhooked from my dual tandem gooseneck before dynoing and that is 16000lbs between my truck and trailer. I regularly gross mid 20k and do fine, I probably can sustain low to mid 300rwhp levels and keep egts in check. At full kill and 3300rpm it’s like 1800f though so it would not live there long.

Hi Brian, I have an Automatic 93 Dodge 4x4, which Turbo would you recommend, it is a stock truck with upgraded Bd exhaust manifold, upgraded Ve pump and a above stock rebuilt transmission, no upgrades to the head bolts. And what brand of oil do you use? Thank you!
@bcbloc02
@bcbloc02 2 месяца назад
If you don’t have injectors the stock turbo will be just fine. If it still has the 18 or 21cm exhaust housing on it changing to a 12 will make it drive WAY better. Oh and I have used Deere 15w40 oil for years in all my vehicles. It is good stuff.

Hello Sir, I really want to do this recipe to mine just wondering if the power jet pdd injectors you bought were second gen ones that you adapted because on the website the power jets are all second gen. Also I really want the 300g but my buddy has a hx 35 w/ exhaust brake for 700. Do you think it will be ok?
@bcbloc02
@bcbloc02 19 дней назад
It depends on your ultimate power goal. An hx35-12 is an excellent choice for 350rwhp and under. If you want to crank the pump up to that 400+rwhp range its going to be really high on egts. I found the VE powerjets on PDD website no problem. They list 3 stages I recommend the 2's. The 3 gives a touch more power but with noticeably more smoke for the limited gain I don't think it is really worth it.

@@bcbloc02 when I saw the JD battery in your truck I was like hmm got me thinking about oil. Thanks for your reply. I also do the same. In fact my truck just about stopped using oil when I made the switch. With rotella my truck would burn roughly 2 qts within 5000 miles. Now it's less than 1/4 qt I would estimate.
@bcbloc02
@bcbloc02 2 месяца назад
@@Wjones450 I was envolved with some of the Jdq testing several years ago before the plus 50 2 came out and I can say the Deere oil is impossible to beat for the price in an engine that is run hard especially if you take advantage of its extended drain interval. If you run rotella you better change it twice as often like Deere recommends because it won’t last like the Deere oil. I have seen it on the dyno and in the oilscan results.

I call bullshit on the company saying putting dimples in diesel pistons increases the efficiency 50 percent. What’s your thoughts?
@Broken_Yugo
@Broken_Yugo 3 месяца назад
They'd be bought out by an engine manufacturer if that were true.
@bcbloc02
@bcbloc02 3 месяца назад
Yes it appears to be a scam along the lines of the achates deal. There has been testing similar performed on aerodynamic mods to diesel pistons in sae papers. Their results were more in the -4 to 7% range for fuel improvements. Combustion dynamics is still to this day a complicated thing best proven out by imperial testing. Computer models still struggle with accurate prediction Any gains seen with these pistons likely come from other proven techniques that they employ like thermal and friction coatings along with ring changes for better cylinder sealing more so than from the dimples themselves.
