Most of the homes in town are on the National Historic Register. There is no other place like it on earth. Trust me. The Log Cabin Steakhouse is the best of the best. The story of Galena is awesome. THE HOMES. Built in the 1800's still standing and magnificent. Well worth the trip.

The customer would have cut it off anyway. Very few people eat the fat nowadays. Besides, it was already cooked and serving a steak with a lot of outside fat is not good for high end restaurants

Quiet, orderly kitchen, professional environment and great looking food. The hand preparation and trimming certainly adds to the quality I sure. Well done.😊
My fiancée is from galena. The log cabin has some amazing food. The people that own the log cabin own gobbies as well right down the street. Excellent food as well
I absolutely love your vids but I hate them at the same time because I always end up hungry! I don't care if I ate 5 minutes ago, after watching your vids I wanna eat again! And this one was one of my favorites so far, keep them coming!
The chef did a great job with the cutting of the meat, and very well prepared, the color flavor ingredients was worked in great as a chef would do,with understanding heart on who to do the job right, platting done very well, and fresh to make sure that the food is tastes for you.
This dish reminds me of some of the great American classics. I've been trying to incorporate more heart-healthy meals into my diet, and your channel is a fantastic resource for that. Keep up the fantastic work!
The Log Cabin is a hidden gem; been there several times and have never disappointed. If you’ve got a big appetite - like myself - be brave and order up the “Fodi Cut” on any night the Prime Rib is served. If you go away hungry after eating that, you should be seen by a gastroenterologist! OH! And don’t forget to try the Saganaki! OOOOOPPPAAAAAA!!!!!!!
Prime Rib Is My Very Fave Cut! This Is Some Of The Best Cuts I've Ever Seen...Made My Mouth Water & Wish I Were There...I Can't Wait To Visit & Dine There Enjoying The Skill Of That Great Chef!!!!!!
Absolutely amazing!! Love this video Chef.. You take steak to a whole different level.. I am The Rookie Chef with a channel of my own.. i will be following you.. Keep up the good work!
OMG! That was the best ‘catch, cook and eat’ video I’ve seen so far. 🥰🥰🥰 Thank you for another one guys. Us meatasaurs appreciate your efforts..... 🥰😍🥰
I'm guessing here because there are no descriptions or words spoken, except "Opaaaa"! The raw prime rib looks like the typical IBP product for prime rib restaurants. I am probably wrong because it looks like it could be a wet aged prime but it seems like it was previously plastic wrapped. About a 20lb whole, bone in beef rib. Now the wet brown liquid. What is it? I guess its a mixture of soy, and Worcestershire and perhaps honey, to make it stick better? Then comes the dry sprinkle, looks like a mixture (proprietary no doubt) of pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and perhaps salt. Then the most fascinating to me...Is that powdered sugar? Absolutely brilliant! This would form a kind of "candy" like crust while it bakes at (secret?) temp in the Alto Shaam. A few hours later and you have a most beautifully baked, RARE Prime Rib. Perfect for service Au Jus! More please!
Galena IL great place to visit. I've eaten at the Log Cabin a couple times, the 32oz Porterhouse was really good and the sides and other food is really good too. Just don't park in the wrong spot or the owner of this place will come unglued, even when you just pulled in and apologize for not realizing that spot was reserved. If you visit go down a couple blocks and try Canova's Pizza too, best you'll eat hands down. Used to drive 2 hours to eat there!
We go to Galena every year and we rent a house for all of us in the Eagle Risge territory always around Labor Day or later. Awesome time for the leaves changing color. But we have never been here before. That will change after watching this. Thanks.
@@ericasmithmba8333.... Oh you know I did!! Started with some really great 'French Onion Soup', then King Cut, 'Bone in Prime Rib' medium rare mashed potatoes and gravy served with fresh bread and washed down with a bottle of Merlot. Yeah it was great!!
Reminds me of the Chicago land area where I was raised. Doubtful you’ll find this on the coast area, as they are trying to convince someone they are more sophisticated, by leaving hungry and wanting. The Greek influence too, man. Evan’s house Mt. Prospect, IL. Circa 1982, good memories.
Fantastic looking food, nothing like it across the pond, you may like to try FILLET STEAK WRAPPED IN THIN TURKEY BREAST WITH RASHER BACON WRAPPED AROUND AND STRING TIED DEEP FRY OR GRILLED a real blow out, good luck and best wishes to you all.
@@boshumok6399 sadly yes, we don’t have steak and bbq restaurants at all. If you go to a pub or high end restaurant you get the choice of 3 types of steak… sirloin rump or fillet… a very few will these days do the tomahawk. I have had so many bad steaks I am reluctant to order them these days even though it’s my favourite and it’s not just because they are often over cooked it’s just a crappy quality steak.
@@nickyphoenix2470 Here in London we seem to have lost any steak houses that were half decent because of the pandemic. We had very little like this "Steak House" one before, with this standard anyway for sure. It may be something to do with exporting of the beef etc from the USA. we can get butchers that are dry aging our own cattle, but alas very few restaurants to cook them.
Great cuts of Beef and interesting to see Seasoning. Look big portions. However it would be interesting to see the prices of each Steak Dish. My memory 2 years ago was 2 Steaks, Hose Wine and Service was well over 220 dollars in San Diego!
Oh my ! What were you thinking? Never ever trim off that part of the prime rib nor the fat after it's cooked. Fire him or train him properly! But I'm gonna visit regardless 😀

I know that New York is a beautiful city; I've never been but I feel like I know it because we see it so often. With that said, I am so much more interested in the many other cities and towns in the United States. I'd never heard of Galena but it is exactly the kind of place I'd like to visit. Salute to our American cousins from a Canadian. Food looks fabulous. What is being ladled onto the steak while it's being grilled? Olive oil, a mix??
Yes exactly. We lived in Chicago before and visited this place. Near Iowa on the Illinois side. Lots of character and great good. Greetings and respect to all from Durango Mexico 🇲🇽
@@Asdfghjkl1234 Thank you so much for your response. What a marvelously undeveloped relationship we Canadians and the beautiful people of Mexico have, (or have not yet fully developed). We are the bread which encases that great nation to our respective North and South; I, like many people, really like Americans. I'd like to suggest a Canadian movie for you to get to know us better: "Mon Oncle Antoine". Can you suggest a wonderful Mexican movie that might help me do the same?
@@Prindad merci pour votre gentil réponse. I also believe there is much opportunity for this great partnership you describe between Canada 🇨🇦 and Mexico 🇲🇽 . We have visited Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec. I’d like to visit western Canada -BC Victoria in the future. I have a friend who lives in that area. I will make sure to watch that movie you recommend. I’d recommend from Director Duncan Bridgeman, “Made in Mexico” - one of the best Mexican movies on art and music. All the best to you and yours.
The BEST part of the prime rib is the seasoning and fat around this steak that was unfortunately cut away before serving to customers. Instead, they drenched the steak with watery au jus and cooking it further from medium rare to medium in the process.... They should have kept those parts and serve it all.
