This video looks at an apparently leaked chapter of Cindy Watts' (mother of Chris Watts), book , 'All My Broken Pieces'. I analyse the first half of chapter 3 where the author describes her (or Cindy Watts') first impressions of Shanann Watts and hearing about her son's engagement to her.
I can't guarantee with 100% certainty the authenticity of this as a part of the actual book. If it is it may be a draft, (which multiple sources suggest it is), and especially given all of the negative feedback from readers so far, it may well be different from the contents of the finished book, if it is published. Please note also that although I believe the opinions of the person writing this (who calls herself 'Cindy' in the manuscript), to be very narcissistic, and I give my reasons why, I am not diagnosing her as having NPD. I refer to narcissists in the video because they exhibit narcissistic behaviour that relates to the behaviour described in this chapter. 'Sarah' is the alias used for CW's sister, Jamie Watts.
I have a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, have trained and worked as an ABA therapist and I have a post graduate diploma in Integrative Counselling and another in Counselling Psychology. I have done extensive research on narcissism and the effects of narcissistic abuse. I work as a coach specifically with people who have experienced narcissistic abuse. Let me know in the comments section below what video you would like me to make about an aspect of narcissism that interests you and please subscribe to my channel!

Cindy Watts, the killer's mother, did not love Celeste. She knew very well that Celeste was allergic to nuts. One day in June 2018 (two months before the murders), Shanan explained how she saw her mother-in-law giving Celeste nuts. On Celeste's last birthday, 17 July, Cindy and her husband did not attend her birthday party. It is clear that Chris Watts has inherited his parents' and particularly his mother's wickedness.

@Listen Linda Your first two lines say all there is to say under the circumstances, Linda! "Most humans would be just shattered. The End." To come away from this unspeakable event, writing a book about anything that goes beyond sorrow and shame and sadness and regret (at least from the perspective of Cindy Watts) is nothing but an invitation to view her in an even harsher, unlikable light. Whatever her objective, she has neither the poise, or the emotional integrity to change anyone's mind about who she is, what she is, and the psychological role she played as the woman who raised this callous murderer.

Chris’s games started really early on. He knew full well that his parents would object to such an expensive engagement ring. He didn’t have to tell Cindy what he paid for the ring. He knew how there was already a strained relationship between Cindy and Shanann, but played the innocent little boy who allowed Shannan to manipulate him. In reality, he was the one playing the games and stirring up trouble with the women in his life.
@glamdolly30
@glamdolly30 4 года назад
I agree 100% I think that was an early example of Chris Watts' manipulation of his mother and Shanann, fanning the flames of conflict between them. He knew his mother and he knew damn fine she would be shocked that Shanann's ring cost so much. And I think that was what really angered Cindy - not only that her son had paid for it (and we cannot be sure that Shanann didn't contribute, go halves or even buy it herself), but the simple fact that Shanann wanted - and got - such a special and valuable engagement ring. Cindy is so self centred I bet she immediately mentally compared it to her own more humble engagement ring, and was livid because it was worth only a fraction of Shanann's fabulous rock. Cindy showed early on she was very competitive with Shanann, and horribly resentful of her achievements. Shanann's mother Sandy recalled Cindy's reaction when she attended the engagement party Shanann hosted, and first saw the house she had bought and lived in after her divorce. Sandy said Cindy was obviously taken aback at how nice the house was, and that it clearly irked her, and made her feel resentful that her daughter-in-law to be, owned such a comfortable, stylish home. Her son Chris owned no property. Indeed Cindy was so irritated by Shanann's home owner status, that she made a bitchy remark to Sandy along the lines of "I understand your daughter is divorced?" To which she replied: "Yes - like your daughter". Even more shocking, Cindy actually told Sandy that she was not convinced Shanann was in love with her son! Who says a thing like that - and at their engagement party too?!

I am sorry I disagree, I feel that the ring could have been cheap and then his mother would have made the comments that Chris didn’t “really” want to marry Shannan, because if he did he would have bought her a nicer more expensive ring. Cindy is self centered, selfish, insecure, jealous, and abusive. Everything Shannan was not, there was nothing that Shannan could have done to impress this woman. I honestly think that Chris was so completely Co-dependent that he really couldn’t be away from Shannan for that period of time and then was terrified of telling Shannan the truth. The truest thing he said to detectives was he never planned to tell Shannan.

It’s easy to say all of the things that you would or would not have done, when you’re not in that situation! The parents of those who commit such evil acts are ALWAYS picked apart and blamed. I’m not sure if thats because of the need to understand why someone so seemingly normal on the outside could do what they’ve done, but it seems to me that people just can’t wrap their head around the fact that some people are just evil! I think in the effort to make sense out of something so horrible, people begin picking apart the parents because there just has to be a reason why someone like Chris Watts was capable of doing what he ultimately did, right?! At the end of the day, Chris Watts murdered his wife and children, not his parents! Even in a court of law, being abused physically, mentally, or sexually, is not a justification to commit murder.

Cindy is such an evil witch that she hated Shan'ann so much that she didn't even care that her grandkids were murdered; they were part of Shan'ann so they judt didnt really matter. @@southbug27not really. Chris was a lot like his mom, regardless. He has an affair and was so self-centred as to think that people would understand his need to start from scratch. The mother has a special kind of narcissism dubbed Medea's syndrome or so. They use kids in order to harm the other person. In this case, she's treating the poor girls like the elephant in the living room at best for two reasons A)their deaths tears their narrative apart. Shannan was not the emmasculating monster they portray her to be and Chris didn't snap. He killed them because he wanted to start again and they were an inconvenience B) because they are not a pawn any more. They cannot try to have a custody battle, as quixotic as it could be, for the girls with Shannan's parents, they can't hope for the girls to turn 18 and try to rekindle the relation with their father and them, they can't play the victim saying that they are turning the girls against them........and also, he son can't make a new batch of grandkids with a woman they approve on because he's in jail. They have to live with the opprobrium of being the parents of a family killer and that Shannan, in a twisted way of thinking, has "won"

It's a year later. Just curious, is your son still with the terrible woman? My daughter is 21 and I despise her bf. She knows this, but beyond that, I'm basically civil. Not because I'm so refined, but because I know the rule, the more you hate them, the more your kid will dig in! So I'm just wondering how the situation with your son has progressed. By the way, I don't just not like him. I don't have to like him- he's her bf, not mine. The problem is that he ONLY cares about himself. He is extremely selfish to the point that he actually puts her in danger. He drives around drunk and on weed, has wrecked several cars. He got my daughter ambushed by his trashy ex- not on purpose, but he knew how she was and put my daughter in that situation and she wasn't even 18 years old at the time, then never even apologized to me. Let's see, they were sitting in the car outside his friends house and got robbed at gunpoint. I literally fear for my daughter's life every day that he is a part of it. So it's not just a matter of me not liking him. I sense that you also have serious concerns about how this woman's relationship with your son can really take his life in a very negative direction. It's crazy how Cindy just didn't like Shanaan- because she had the nerve to try to recruit Cindy to help her in getting Chris to grow up and be a legitimate adult. How could Shanaan have ever guessed that suggesting that Chris had faults would make Cindy hate her forever. Normally, we want our kids to choose mates who want them to grow. Shanaan thought enough of Chris to try. Oh, poor Shanaan, they were so mismatched from the start. If only he would've met that homewrecker trash first. They could've been very happy together, and Shanaan could have found a man as drivin, mature, loving, and hard working as she was.

Something I'd love to see addressed: how Chris Watts' parents used the fact that they're the grandparents of two of the victims to weasel their way into giving "victim impact statements" that were really Trojan horse character witness testimony for Chris (and themselves). They said to the court "we want the opportunity to say how the death of our granddaughters affected us" in order to be given the time to speak in court that they were, and look at when they ended up actually saying.

I personally would find that a huge mistake as well and would be super concerned if my son was ever in that situation. As evil as Cindy is, she was right to have concerns about money as look how they ended up, about to lose their super expensive house. I don’t think how Cindy reacted was that out of line to be honest, it was a stupid mistake on her sons part and most people would call their son out on spending $12,000 on an engagement ring for someone they had been with a couple of weeks.

I knew an alternate universe of Chris Watts apology existed, but never saw it firsthand--until I stumbled upon it under a video that was far from it. A woman posted, outlining all the ways in which Shannan and Chris were both narcissists and harmed each other, that the abuse "went both ways." And all I could think was "Well, Shannan didn't kill her husband. She didn't kill her two young daughters. Hell, she didn't form a whole other relationship with a love interest, ready to abandon her husband and family! Even if there was an ounce of validity in what you're saying, once three (four) brutal murders occurred, the 'both ways' theory flew out the window." The insanity!

She made the GIANT mistake of speaking poorly about Shannan while she was missing and after she and the girls were found. It seems that since then shes been trying to redeem herself and by doing so, shes making it worse. Rule number 1. NEVER speak ill of the dead (especially when your son brutally kills them). Slip into the back ground and DONT write a book that critisises the Victim (even slightly). Nothing Shannan said or did can ever justiiify or explain what Chris Watts did. The narcissist always tries to spin things to try to control the narrative. It is very important to Cindy that the public view her in a good light. She knows that she messed up her kid and that is why she is so paranoid that people might see behind her mask. Narcissists will even kill people to maintain the integrity of their mask. From day one, it was apparent in her interviews that Cindy's main concern was to convince people that Chris murdered his family because Shanann was a controlling person. Cindy was actually describing her own flaws (narcissists always point out their own flaws as flaws of others and the term is "Projection"). No normal person with mature emotions would be explaining the murder of their daughter and law and young grandkids as an expected thing because the daughter in law was flawed. A normal grandmother would be in tears. Cindy defended her son only because she felt she had to in order to defend herself and her family. The Watt's family saga would make a great Ph.D or masters thesis for a psychology student studying narcissism and narcissism family dynamics and abuse.

I think I’m so drawn to this case because the relationship between Chris watts and his parents was almost exactly like the relationship between my covert narcissist ex-husband and his family. We never had anything it’s just between us because he was so interested in pleasing his parents. He would tell them exactly how much money we have in the bank and how much we spent on major purchases. And example would be our first apartment. Rather than congratulate us on finding a place to live his dad had to tell us that the apartment was too expensive and he didn’t think we could afford it. We were both working professionals and it was a modest apartment. The same thing happened when we bought a house that he had to tell them how much we spent on a down payment. The house was $100,000 but they had to tell us how expensive the house was. And like Shannan they thought I was high maintenance and that I was the one spending all the money when in reality it was their son spending all of our money so he could impress them and other people.

Writing this book, Cindy Watts was solidifying that she’s having the final word. I have a feeling this is/had always been, a huge issue for Cindy. The Watt’s family already had a very troublesome dynamic, that, combined with the eventual health issues (& ensuing financial costs ) of Shan’ann and those of the girls tests added stress, that mixed with the chemistry of these personalities became increasingly toxic, right up until the eventual and tragic point, it became deadly. Were the latter “happy” FaceBook videos from Shan’ann searching for admiration, affirmation or even a cry for help.? Putting on a brave face, whilst realising she might be out of her depth with someone she no longer recognised, once his convivial family-man facade had eventually dropped..? Did she actually have a gut feeling somewhere deep inside, that she was with someone she didn’t know, like she thought she knew, but she loved him, and she was being the dutiful wife/ doing honourable thing, trying to work it out.. no matter what the cost .? I sensed an element of fear in her anxiousness to get home to Chris. We all wrestle with conflicting emotions at times. I would hazard a guess that her friend, (that so protectively waited to see he enter her home that last time, before driving away) knew that something was growing seriously amiss with Chris. I found your video’s to be Incredibly informative, & a valuable perspective on how to identify (and hopefully even prevent) engaging in a relationship with a narcissist. They can be deadly when confronted with an unfamiliar strength, or with the truth or they ultimately feel cornered or trapped.

Cindy Watts' introduction, to the audience reading her book should read...First and foremost I am sorry, I'm sorry how I behaved in court during my son's sentencing. I chose to focus that time on my son, who just confessed to murdering my daughter in law and my precious grandbabies. I handled it poorly and I am sorry. At times I didn't show my daughter in law respect, and I am sorry ...And in conclusion I am sorry to Shannan's mother, father and brother. I will spend the rest of my life trying to find a way to do anything to show my sorrow. And I will remind everyone that my son murdered them all, and the weight of those facts crushed my soul. Never heard anything remotely reflecting that heartbreak and sorrow. And that, Cindy Watts, is why you're judged for being a monster.

@j9andphoenix
@j9andphoenix 3 года назад
One reason is she loathed Shanann so much she had minimised her health issues and treated her with scorn and derision and that the allergies and illness was just Shanann drama and not true. That said - she doesn't seem fussed those lovely girls were murdered and stuffed in the oil barrels - so why would she care about a peanut allergy?
@RRonco
@RRonco 3 года назад
Your assessment is spot on, and the progression is undeniably clear. CW's mother's disregard for CeCe's life by setting tree nuts out on the coffee table and side tables and in the ice cream, that all the other kids could have except CeCe, that was more than just passive-aggressive needling of Shan'ann. By doing that, Cindy Watts blessed her son with her tacit permission to harm 'those girls'. She shined her light on the path she wanted him to follow. Cindy Watts literally, actually, physically telegraphed her overt desire to see harm come to helpless children of her own relation. Her demonstration of her own attempt to endanger her own grandchildren didn't go unnoticed by Chris. Cindy Watts endangering Celeste was more than just another family squabble where Chris was too much of a wuss to go against his mum. To the contrary, in his desire to please his mother, Chris Watts simply finished what Cindy Watts started. It was one thing for Cindy Watts to hate Shan'ann. Once she displayed to her the world her hatred of Shan'ann and Chris's babies, her son had nothing left to show for his life (in his mommy's eyes) and did what he thought he could get away with in an effort to start over. Chris Watts' familicide would have multiple happy effects for him besides clearing the way for his relationship with his mistress: unbounded public and private sympathy for him, no lingering financial obligations, and after a long 8 years in the wilderness of his marriage to a woman she despised, finally pleasing his mother.
@kiaq1153

@@RRonco I agree. He texted Shannan saying he will have a word with his mother and putting the kids in harms way was not ok, but like cindy he was just wearing a mask , pretending to care for the welfare of the children. This case was so awful due to the circumstances but the attention has drawn us to important channels like yours trying to understand and seek applicable advice. As a child of narcissistic abuse saying nothing is very common. My parent went on a cruise during my college graduation. Then when I showed her the diploma later she said “oh I wish it was from a better school”. Then she got upset that another family member went to my graduation. That’s what I mean, their children our their mirror. It took me years to understand that everything my parent hates about herself she projects in to me. I see it for what it is now but, after lots of therapy and some pity for her that she can’t trust, everyone is out to get her and she has this terribly unfeeling child which is all just her perception. I am a new sub, and literally squealed with delight to watch this. The Chris Watts story is by far, is the saddest thing I've ever seen. At the sentencing hearing, Cindy spoke and cried, and I felt very sorry for her. Shananns mother actually said they still felt love for their son-in-law. So, to then watch Cindy's interview, where she seemed so heartless and just rediculous...it hurt! It hurt me as a stranger, so how could the Rzucek family could have felt must have been terrible. I'm just so glad to see a smart explanation about her. It's not mean, or even angry. It is correct!

I think that when she was saying how extremely close she is with her daughter and how great her son-in-law is, and how she can see those grandchildren whenever she wants, it was just a passive aggressive way of saying she DIDN'T have that in Chris and Shanann. If it was your own mother writing that about your sibling, I think it would be construed in a hurtful/resentful manner. She seems to hold very little regard for Shannan... or Chris for that matter. My mom is not as narcisstistic as Cindy, but enough that I certainly get all of that messaging LOUD and CLEAR. As sick as it all is, your comment made me so happy. I'm guessing you know what it's like to live with people like that. I love it when other people see the narcissistic hidden meanings clear as day. My gut instinct is this woman is trying too hard to come across as the perfect mother in law. Even Shanann looks worried when Cindy is holding Celeste. If you watch the video of Cindy discussing things post murders, she shows a lot of contempt for Shanaan. Her lip curls up on one side. Cindy was jealous and envious of Shananns life. I think she is from a tough, low income family, who scraped to get by.....any extra spending would have made Cindy annoyed. Her passive aggressive nature is very confusing to others but she never cared how she expressed herself anyway. She wanted to control everything and everyone. She made sure to upset Shanann on more than one occasion.
