Sandy Rzucek, through her tears, shook her head when Dr Phil asked her if she would want the death penalty now for Chris Watts. What are this family teaching us about healing and what do they tell us about the roots of narcissism? Is Chris Watts an evil monster?
I have a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a post graduate diploma in Integrative Counselling and another in Counselling Psychology and I have done extensive research on narcissism and the effects of narcissistic abuse. I work as a coach specifically with people who have experienced narcissistic abuse. Please subscribe to my channel!

Hi guys, this video comes from my whole heart. Please can I encourage you to share it so we can create change? I'm bleary eyed in it, after attempting (and failing) to sleep opposite the night market in Siem Reap! I'm going to put the next Chris Watts interview analysis video up soon. I wanted us to take a step back first, fully appreciate the strong message from the Rzuceks and look at the bigger picture. Adding this in - anyone who has emailed me with interest in my idea of setting up courses or with video suggestions recently, I'm trying to set up an auto respond. I'm getting a lot and can't respond to everyone. But please know that I value these messages and they are all filed away. I read each one and I won't forget you!

You such a therapeutic way of conveying your messages. Thanks for talking about the Rzucek's, they have such class and like you pointed out, they are very classy and loving ppl who provided a lot of love and affection to their children in the crucial part of their developm, thus their children were (and are) able to easily reciprocate it back. Your point about how this case has not only instilled a lot of pain but also awareness is so true. I've questioned if I may have some narcissistic behavior and have actually discussed it in therapy. Can't wait until your next video!!!

True, the conduct of the Watts family - murderer Chris Watts and his parents Cindy and Ronnie - has been truly appalling throughout. Decent parents would have thrown themselves at the Rzucek's feet, paying tribute to the victims while apologising and expressing shame and disgust at their son's crimes. The Watts have done the very opposite, victim-blaming Shanann and paying tribute to their son, the murderer. But then, if the Watts were the sort of people to behave decently, with compassion for the victims and regret for their son's crimes, perhaps they would not have raised a murderer in the first place.

It took me thirty five years to recover . I wish the me of today could be a teenager beginning their life instead of a 55 year old who was too busy self therapising to have built a carreer and a home. Yes its our responibility to fix our disorders but it takes the good part of a lifetime . Victims of childhood abuse are robbed of everything, not just their right minds and self esteem but often their potential of a career and home ownership. They get narcissists instead of friends and lovers and often their own children have disorders due to the parent overcompensating for the love they didnt give and for the narc father that they are ordered to visit at weekends .

@@satsumamoon Yes I know. That quote is more directed at the people who grow up to be abusers and criminals...........and they blame everyone else for turning out that way. I too wasted the first half of my life to catering to narcissists and abusers. But at age 40 I went to university and it changed my life - I was expelled from school at 14. I just didn't fit in and I rebelled. But after age 40 and loving academic life, I decided never to date again, never to have another relationship. It was the best thing I ever did. I had time to get to know myself, the me I should have been all along. It was a revelation. I liked me.. I needed to be on my own for all this to happen, not looking through an abusers lens at me.........I've never had any great financial success but it doesn't bother me. I believed this totally for many years but, I had no idea how much being the adult child of a narcissistic alcoholic child beating mother affected my subconscious choices, it has taken years of therapy to fully understand and I am still learning aged 50, I think the risk with a statement like this is that it adds to our self hatred because we believe that everything that happens after we get to 18 is our fault- it really isn’t, we can work on ourselves and get insight but who we are drawn to and the feelings we have are hardwired in. It’s important to acknowledge that and forgive ourselves. I am proud that I haven’t carried on the abuse to the next generation but I have not been unscathed as an adult xx

excellent analysis of the principal mental health issues at stake in today's family atmosphere. my therapist thinks my mother had borderline personality disorder. she got worse as she aged., hostile, aggressively controlling , and delusional. but she could charm the pants off of anyone. everybody loved her. her own mother was clearly disturbed and could also be viscous then she could flip and become the most fun grandma ever. I was always a little afraid of her. I grew up expecting emotional abuse and by the time i was 8 or so I withdrew into a silent and stoic existence, like a prisoner trying not to attract any attention from the guards. head down, eyes averted, obedient .

As one who described him as evil I take responsibility for the fact that I did call him that because of both the choice he made to annihilate his family and the utter outrage I felt at what he'd done. That said, I can now say his actions and behaviours were evil which is true and which doesn't dehumanize him (as tempting as that is). I think the initial stages of such a horrific event does throw people into feelings of pure disgust and anger however it's not healthy to continue in that way and not seek to understand what would bring someone to act in such horrible ways as CW did. It's without a doubt a testament to who you are that you can find meaning in your suffering and still be able to love and trust. The Rzuceks undoubtedly are people who inspite have the horrific trauma they've gone through continue to show who they are by the dignity and constraint they've shown throughout their devastation and suffering. I totally agree with you that it's much more important that children feel loved more than anything else. Thank you for your video and it's a valuable message that you've obviously put a great deal of thought into and conveyed so eloquently.

@@MA__ Yes. It's tough given that we know so much about the case and especially how Shanann and her babies bodies were disposed of however as you say to label them as evil and monster in a n unintentional way allots power and control to them that they really do not have, would not have nor should have otherwise. As hard as it is to admit.. We all do have the capacity within us to kill.. The difference between me, you, us and the Chris Watts of the world is that the rest of us choose not to do such things and we're not malignant narcissists .Instead we look for and consciously choose ways to love and care rather than hate or kill or harm even if that means walking away. Also... What I know of malignant narcs, sociopaths, psychopaths is that they want us to feel fear, hate, anger, rage, bitterness and any and every other draining emotion they can give rise to within us because it feeds them narcissistic supply and heightens their false sense of self as being something they're not. I refuse to do that. I choose instead to leave it where it belongs.. Ie:between him and his creator. Thank you for replying Megan. ❤️

Hello! Another fantastic video, you articulate the feelings I have so well. I didn't think it was possible to accept my mother, not so much for the treatment she meted out to myself, but the knock-on effect it had on my two daughters, but by working on myself, keeping a sense of humour the acceptance and the ability to move on was possible. The greatest gift parents can give our children is self-confidence. Your videos are very important. BTW I emailed you this morning, all the best, Vicky :)

Thank you for these videos! You explain and describe very well. I have been watching this case since Shanann and the girls went missing on my local news channel. I think what makes this case so different is all the videos and pictures available (made by Shanann and police). These illustrations make the case very real, for me anyway.

I can't thank you enough for this video. There has been so much hate an abuse thrown at Shanann and her family, to see a professional such as yourself validate this family is wonderful. Your summary that we can all have an effect by just loving others is so life giving. I hope this spreads to the pages that are out there still slamming Shanann and they will get the bigger message that they too can do something to make this whole situation better, they too can love and stop shaming. Thank you again for being the voice of reason.

Thank you so much for making this video, Sweetie. There appears to be so many people who are not understanding the full responsibility that Chris Watts bears with respect to his decisions, choices, and behaviors, as an adult, before, during, and after his recent crimes. It's imperative to learn from such a horrible tragedy; placing so much blame on Shanann, Watts' mistress, and/or his parents/family does not help to discover who completed these atrocities, why, and how we can benefit from a greater understanding of them, Sherrey in Southern Ontario🎀

Narcissists weaponize others' empathy, arousing others' pity so they will be more likely to allow (enable) the narcissists' abuse. Narcs are quite skilled at figuring out how to work other people. Until I learned about narcissism, I really did not understand that there were so many people who are empty inside and also have no conscience or moral compass. These videos are very helpful and important education tools. Thank you.

watching Cindy watts' interview just shocks and chills me. what a nasty piece of work with very negative worldview and hateful thoughts and outlook. a small minded damaged woman and just what an awful woman to grow up with as your mother! Chris went to something that he was more comfortable around with NK. I feel as if Cindy watts needs to be imprisoned for her culpability.

Can’t say anything more than Your AMAZING!! Every word you spoke was the truth & regarding parenting I totally agree that our role is to Bring up health, loving & secure children with a strong sense of self worth. That is the challenge we face as parents with so much self-centred social media our children are being brainwashed in an age of Snapchat, Instagram & Facebook which promotes self centred & fake personas! The Rzuceks are the most beautiful family that have shon a light on what love, forgiveness & acceptance really mean!

Live Abuse Free I am so happy to have discovered you & your wonderful insights & wise wisdom. Thank you for sharing so much that helps us all to gain insight within others as well as ourselves. My youngest is my 16 year old daughter & this time is so pivotal to keep communications open. We have a sleepover over Friday night in her room & chat, watch movies together & talk about school, her friends & whatever she wants. My house is always open to any of her friends day or night & she knows that they can sleep over anytime she want. That way I know every single one of her friends & they have a safe environment to be together. I never let her have sleep overs at others before she was 13 except for my best friends house because I had to know the family first& now I know them all. I have to say I have been blessed with my son (20) & daughter. They are strong, Happy & independent people. Love and trust is key but the MOST important thing you can do for your children is give them your time, quality time one on one. I work full time & run the house 😉 but I always spent an hour each with them in their beds before sleep every night until about 14 just talking with them about their day & life. I truly believe that this one thing has made them who they are today. Life is so hectic but we chose to have children so the least you can do as a parent is give them your time. I never had that as the eldest & only girl with 7 brothers & know it was the one thing I ever really wanted from my parents.

I love the Rzucek family. All of them are amazing people. The Watts family on the other hand are difficult. Cindy comes off as narcissistic, selfish, cold and conniving. I truly believe she wanted little CeCe to be harmed by the nuts. By hurting Cece she was hurting Shanann.Ronnie on the other hand went along to get along. Chris is just simply evil.

excellent! i've been hoping that someone would start moving this conversation to the direction you are heading. i also still love your analysis of the behavior of all involved. i've not been traumatized by this case. i've been absolutely fascinated by the reactions and opinions of people all over the world. Shannan is such a powerful presence that i feel she has not left us. i don't usually say things like this but i think her death is a part of her life's work...her purpose. i've never thought of Chris as evil or a monster. i see him as a tragic figure. my heart broke when i heard that he researched what love feels like. i understand this. unfortunately he decided to act out in the most horrific way imaginable. i feel as if he became so overwhelmed that he short circuited and he didn't know how to ask for help. sadly, he could have turned to his wife and in-laws for support.

Your messages are deeply effective; I really appreciate how articulate you are and understand everything you are saying. I've suffered a lifetime of narcissistic abuse but despite feeling confused and angry at times, I'm still very much aware of how and why my abuser thinks and reacts the way she does. The human condition can be simultaneously fascinating and repulsive, but must always be recognised as way more nuanced than 'good vs evil'. I think most people know this. Thank you so much these videos.
