Honestly one of my fav recipes with tinned fish is nice sardines, we buy ours from the Russian store so I assume they sardines are from Finland. So we take sardines, crush them on some toast, at some parsley or dill and a few drops of lemon. I've been eating that snack since I was a little girl. My dad and I would eat it watching tennis. I love tinned fish. Seriously underrepresented food

A Niçoise Salad is one of the best examples of a great tinned seafood recipe. I love the italian version, with tuna, anchovies, capers, potatoes, red onion, mixed salad leaves, lemon juice, and olive oil. It's a sure winner.

I never thought of anchovies in a pasta dish, we use them in salads mostly. One of my family's favorite meals and I mean favorite!!! It is super fast too! It is linguine and clams! We only buy the clams that are in clam juice to use in our recipe! Big congrats on your book!!!!

Looking great as always Bart, I sure do love my anchovies. As for tinned fish recipes my favourite is for sure Spaghetti Puttanesca, spaghetti in a spicy chili/garlic tomato sauce with some kalamata olives, anchovies and capers topped up with some fresh parsley. and the second is a really easy dish, well its not really a dish but more like a nice camping trick, grab a tin of sardines in oil, open it up, put some toilet paper (yes really) on the oil, like two or three layers and light it on fire. Leave it like that for about 5-10 minutes, not sure but check once in a while and when its finished put it on some bread with tomatoes/whatever you've got lying around. Really great when camping/on festivals/while hitchhiking, etcetera.

Wow, Bart, I love this recipe! So quick and simple, yet deeeeelish! My favourite recipe with tinned fish is connected with my childhood. Children´s favourite food in my country is pasta with ketchup and shredded cheese, however, my favourite was different - my dear father used to cook it especially for me..it was spaghetti with canned tuna (ridiculous how simple this meal was)....now I sometimes cook it myself, just to feel like father´s little princess again

My favorite recipe for tinned fish is thai styled spicy sardine :). We have tinned sardine in tomato sauce in Thailand. So we mix lime, fish sauce, palm sugar and fresh birdeyes chilli one tablespoon each for dressing. Add dressing to the fish, topped it up with fresh mint and corriander. Simple and delicious to kick up your tastebud ;)

You take any tomato canned sardines, asian store brands works well, put a pan on the burner on low heat , add some olive oil, a knob of butter, cilantro, finely dice onions, a thai bird chile, season with a few drops of fish sauce and this ragu is perfect on jasmine rice. YAY FOR TINNED FOOD! My favourite has to be a tuna puttanesca. Ingredients 120g of linguine 1 can of oil packed tuna 2 Anchovy fillets 2 clove of garlic 1 bird's eye chili 1 handful of cherry tomatoes 1 tablespoon of capers 1 handful of unpitted olives 1 Handful of chopped parsley 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil Prep 1. Thinly slice the garlic 2. De-seed the chili and thinly chop 3. Halve the cherry tomatoes 4. Roughly chop the capers 5. Pit the olives and roughly chop into chunks 6. Roughly chop the parsley Cook 1. Boil the pasta to 1 or 2 minutes before the package instructions. 2. Open the can of tuna and pour just the oil into a pan over a medium heat 3. Add the anchovy fillets and break it apart 4. Add the chopped garlic and chili until aromatic 5. Add the cherry tomatoes and give them a quick squish and cook for 1 minute 6. Add the capers and olives. 7. Add tuna and break it up. If the sauce seems a little too dry add some pasta water. 8. Add the pasta to the pan and give it a toss 9. Add the parsley and mix through 10. One of my favourite tinned recipes nowadays is tunna with red onion, green olives and some olive oil or mayo, you may eat it in a sandwich, on a toast, mixed with boiled potatoes and lettuce as a salad, fill a tomato, fill an eggplant and put some cheese all over and bake it for a few minutes. Also like tunna with roasted red pepper, hard boiled egg and green olives which is a very typical filled for patties hear in Spain that you may also use it in the same way I told before. : )

Hey bart, love the channel, came here via Jamie's channel, My favorite tinned seafood recipe is one i have made for several years now, not sure where i got it from, but it's basicly a simple tomato based sauce over pasta, its just onions, celery, carrot and tomatos, but instead of adding ground meat i add Canned tuna to the sauce. Ow, and Oregano ofcourse! Also another one of my favorites is a Putanesca sauce i think its called, capers, anchovis, garlic, tomato sauce and parsley over some nice pasta.

Hello Bart! Thank you for all your good recipes! Find below the tinned seafood recipe I'm cooking every now and then: pasta al tonno Ingredients (2-3 people): -300g short pasta (penne or fusilli for example) -200g tinned tuna -2 fillets of tinned anchovies -400g of pomodoro passata -1 chili -1 clove of garlic -some parsley -salt -Olive oil Start cooking the pasta in abundant salted water. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Cut and put in the garlic, then the anchovies. When the anchovies are melted, desseed the chili, cut it in stripes and put it in the pan. After a minute put in some pasta water and add the tuna drained from its oil. Sauté for a minute. Add the tomato passata and the parsley. Cook and let it reduce for 5 min. Finish by adding the cooked pasta and some more parsley. Buon appetito! If you miss any ingredient, make it anyway. Even if you miss the tuna. It will be tomato pasta.

Amazing recipe as usual Bart! Congrats on your new book, I really would love to win a signed copy. My favorite tinned fish recipe is a Qatari one. Basically it's a cooked tinned tuna with chopped onions, garlic, ginger, coriander and plenty of indian biryani spices, served with steamed rice. It is delicious!

Bart, congrats on your new book! The tinned fish recipe I like to make is a very fast, easy and fresh tuna sandwich or salad, perfect for the summer. I use a can of tuna, celery, onion, mayo, lemon juice, salt and pepper, then you can have it with toasted bread and lettuce or use it as a dressing for your salad just by adding olive oil. 😋

One of my faves is to open up a tin of tuna, chop a quarter red onion, a hand full of green pees, a table spoon of mayo, and mix all with left over white rice. Finish it up with a few drops of lime juice and chipotle hot salsa.

Hey Bart! Great recipe. My favorite tinned fish recipe is also with anchovies! It's an old Sicilian recipe for spaghetti in a spicy, garlic anchovy based olive oil sauce, topped with crispy breadcrumbs. Makes for a great primo!

Appetizing pasta dish, really challenging our taste buds with the anchovies, they have quite a strong flavour, will try soaking them in milk as you have suggested in previous comment. Thanks Bart.

gary daniels Yes, soaking makes it less salty. Meanwhile I am just thinking what to do what that milk. Maybe I give it a try in a béchamel one day. No idea of it would work.... Thanks for watching again Gary! Hope you're doing well. I am a few weeks off on holiday since Thursday. Really enjoying it. See you soon!

Hi, I'm from Singapore and would love to get that signed book of yours. I've grown up with tinned sardines and tinned tuna. Sardines cooked with onions and eaten with fluffy white rice with a pan of omelet Tinned Tuna...well there's many variations like Curry Tuna, Chilli Tuna, Tomato Tuna and its eaten straight from the tin with bread. I call it my Snack sandwiches.

My favourite tinned seafood recipe would have to be Janssons Frestelse (Jansson's Temptation). It's a classic/traditional Swedish dish that we eat during holidays. (Especially Christmas.) It's basically a casserole with potatoes cut into "fries", shredded onions, and tinned anchovies. But we DO use the juice from the tin, to get that salty fishy flavour in there. (Should I state that I'd like to win a signed copy of that book? Hehe, I think it's pretty clear already.)

I take a can of tinned tuna, a cn of diced tomatoes, a glug of olive oil, black olives, garlic, ginger and capers, and simmer it all together in a sauce to reduce it down, then I'll serve it with some oiled tagliatelle and a bit of rocket on the side. I would love to recieve barts book, and for him to tell me what he thinks of my recipe!😊

Ciao Bart, Well, my favorite recipe, where a seafood ingredient comes from a tin, has to be Bistecca alla Pizzaiola. Ingredients (serves two): 1. 2 cuts of steak (Bistecca, where the name comes from) 2. White wine 3. Olive oil 4. Garlic (3-4 cloves) 5. Olives (5-6) 6. Capers (a generous table spoon) 7. Origano (a handful) 8. 250 gr of fresh pomodorini (chopped in half) 9. Tinned salty Anchovies (4-5 fillets) 10. Optional: Half of chilly Preparation: 1. Put some olive oil in a pan over medium to high heat, and sizzle your steak just to get some color on both sides, I prefer medium rare, and put just a quarter or a half of glass of white wine, and let it simmer for a bit. Take the steak out, and let it rest. 2. Dice the garlic, olives, capers, chilly and anchovies, and put them all together in the pan where you cooked the meat. Saute just for a bit, until the mix takes on some colorm and add the origano. Continue sauteing and add the pomodorini, together with a half of glass of water. Stir well, cover, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes on a medium heat. 3. When you have reached the desired density of the sauce, put your steaks back in to the pan with sauce, and leave it for a couple of minutes, until they are warm, and ready to serve. Add pepper to taste. Although there are a lot of ingredients, i find that Anchovies are the key player in this dish. They will completely melt, and give a superb richness to the taste. Being a foreign student in Italy, discovering and 'mastering' the Pizzaiola, and many more other Italian recipes, has been a real pleasure and perfect way dig more into Italian culture and way of living. Congratulation on your Book, and hope to see you on many more Fishy Fridays!
