I honestly believe Rogue One was the final good Star Wars movie. My aunt took me to Barnes and Noble and she bought me a really cool box set of novels called Star Wars Thrawn trilogy by Timothy Zahn which I've heard about before but I've actually never read them, so this well be my very first time reading them. In the mean time, I'm still focusing on The Lord Of The Ring's novels by J.R.R Tolkien and I finished The Fellowship Of The Ring, now I'm on The Two Towers. Happy 4th of July.
How about Homelander actor Anthony Starr as a young Palpatine? Honestly. I feel like he would be a perfect fit as almost any Star Wars villain. I could see him as an Imperial Admiral. Thrawn? Or even a Mando.
Rogue One derivative, Andor, certainly looks more promising. Cinematography, locational shooting... looks pretty sharp and they have more leeway to tell a story with their own characters, but , let's see..
These livestream/podcast things are some of the only reasons I keep pushing on. Keep it up guys :) you make amazing content. Can’t wait to watch andor and bad batch with y’all.
i totally agree about the Andor series, i feel like itd be super cool to have the political scenes of the senate slowly falling into disarray, rebellion sympathisers rising in secret, and Palpatine slowly tightening his fist, it would be great to have that in there cos in my head canon palps was still heavily involved in the senate
I love this community, this is where us Star Wars fans come to relax and even speak about our problems, hope frank is doing ok, we all have our problems in life, you gotta fight through.
Another awesome NerdTheory in the bag! I love this community and how great chat can be! Y’all always make my nights! Much love my dudes and hyped for all the new SW shows we’re getting!
Still hardcore think if Plo had been Anakin's master the universe would've been better for it. And Obi-Wan gets Ahsoka and they're all one big family NOTHING BAD HAPPENS NOPE. Also let's be real I don't think Plo Koon had any issues with the attachment rule. When Ahsoka was kidnapped by the Trandoshians his advice to Anakin actually really helped him calm down "if you trained her well she'll find her way back home." that's WAY better than anything Yoda ever said to the man lol.
Star Wars universe is vast, yet they still are trying to tell the story of the original trilogy. I, for one, believe they need to tell another story. Perhaps delve into the past or even into the future. A story line that does not involve the Skywalkers at all. I'd love for a Reven, Vitiate, or a future story with all new characters and a fresh story. Why not?
The next star wars movie directed by taika watiti is set far in the future with no previously known characters. Hopefully he doesn't make it to comedic.
Because Disney knows they cannot sell original stuff, not with the lack of writing talent and vision they have. They absolutely *have to* desperately cash in on nostalgia.
We need to move away from these stories where we write in new characters that weren't in the PT and then kill them off before the OT. Rogue One was enough of that idea. Why don't we write NEW stories about things happening in parallel with the PT and OT where the characters can appear in that timeframe without having to match up with everything we've seen in the saga or disappear/die? That's essentially what Mando was doing - it's (near enough) the same timeline as the OT but he barely knows Luke.
@@BenDowdy Rey is divisive, and the only thing the sequels set up was rebel v FO. And with the FO gone, what is the story? Rey the Jedi rebuilds the Jedi? But we didn't see her with a Jedi mentor properly at any point in the sequels. And the sequels told us that the Jedi just got fucked up because darkness rises to meet the light, and Palpatine can just come back from the dead... so who cares? What I'm saying is, why start from scratch with Rey, in time period that deconstructed SW, when you start with a new character at any point in the PT, OT or in between or before the sequels? We've already done the groundwork on republic/empire (and in between), and can just focus on character within that setting; Mandalorians, or bounty hunters, clones, droids etc Anything with Rey or post TROS has to deal with the stench of the sequels, and all the things it didn't bother to explain.
I’m not going to lie I liked obiwan, I think it fell short in regards to flashback and pacing but as far as Disney Star Wars it was solid. Did they have to push reva? No. Was it annoying/unnecessary? Yes. Will she become a fan favorite like Ashoka? Entirely possible. I don’t want to jump the gun or case judgement to quickly. I am hopeful for the future! If you set your expectations low you will typically be pleasantly surprised.
Well it’s all about saving money. They been doing this sense 1973. That was the time when Nixon was getting into war w/opec for a cheaper deal. OPEC said No go f***k urselfs and responded into a gas hike. Got really bad that ppl(voters). They had to go to even odd days to buy gas.But now its COVID19,inflation,war in Ukraine w/Russia&insurrection.Even thou Trump didnt help to improve COVID19. Back to Disney. This is just a theory due to inflation & COVID19. Disney isn’t doing so well.Happens.
@@Ider4_Ever you spend all day daydreaming expectations for a show, it’ll NEVER live up. Rogue One , NO ONE had expectations and it turned out to be awesome. There’s a lesson in that.
@@issiahsilva Awesome? Not for nothing, Rogue One is…at best…average. I’d argue it holds a special place for many not for what it is…but for what it isn’t. It isn’t Episodes VIII and IX. It isn’t Solo. The least bad film is like saying I have the least poop in my ice cream. That’s nice…but you still have shit in your ice cream. Take out the Vader scene and Rogue One is a banal, faceless explanation of established stories. Hell…the trailer showed a better movie than the one we got. Disney Star Wars is ass…from Jar Jar Abrams and the Farce Awakens right through to Obi Wokenobi.
Not to be negative BUT if Andor is a crazy good show (which I hope it is) it’s going to seem like Disney is only putting effort into shows with the characters they’ve created themselves. Mando, their own character(s) being very well done vs Boba Fett and Kenobi (which I enjoyed but just felt lacking in some areas + writer changes)
I could see that. Seems like a "Out with the old, in with the new situation". Even when it comes to Disney Land. Mostly show thier characters and labels Anakins Lightsabers as Reys
Man, Josh said "we got out alive on Kenobi, so now I can get excited for these shows", but to me, if we're just getting out alive in a Kenobi/Vader show, we're in trouble. That should have been the easy grand slam. If Disney and KK are struggling to even produce a medium Kenobi show, how can I get excited about anything beforehand? We're in for a lot of mediocre Star Wars until there's new and better leadership.
Star Wars is dead. The only thing that might revive it would be Disney selling LucasFilm. And even that is only part of the solution. Who buys them at this point?
@@thechosendone8533 SW is on its golden age rn. Kenobi was a hit and there is more cool stuff coming soon. It might be dead for you, but you're in the minority.
@@juansebastian9259 yeah sure, just becase the masses consoom whatever shit disney spews at them doesnt take away the fact that a lot of the new shows and films are garbage and mediocre at best
@@juansebastian9259 I agree with you. The finale for kenobi was a grandslam success 10/10. The general masses enjoy it. But as the saying goes 'no one hates star wars more than a star wars fan'
Hey, big fan of the Lives you all do. Usually have to catch them after they air. small suggestion having someone add some time stamps with topics would be super helpful. Keep up the good work!
I honestly think you guys are doing it again. Hyping it up in your heads, "what I want to see, what I want them to do" which inevitably they won't do, because how can they? And therefore it'll be dismissed as not living up to expectations. It never will at this rate. Yes, Tony Gilroy co-wrote Rogue One and Directed Michael Clayton, but he also Directed easily the worse Bourne film, which didn't even feature Jason Bourne. So, let's just see how the show goes, and calm the hype train until all 12 episodes have been aired. I'm not saying it's going to be bad, but if you hype it up so much in your heads then it will never be "good"
FAXXXXXXXXXXXXX I love these guys but, when they cry about things not being good enough it’s their own fault. Cause everyone else is enjoying it because we’re not over hyping it
Sad truth. Kenobi had a lot of the right ingredients, to the point where I was like "there's no way this could be bad", and they gave us a mediocre show with just enough breadcrumbs in two episodes to make it salvageable. I have little hope for Andor, but stand to be pleasantly surprised.
@@atifahmed6036 Exactly. I'm looking forward to it. I'm interested to see where the show goes and I'm not going to try and 2nd guess it. See, here's the thing. When the prequels were announced, people got all hyped, came up with wild ideas and Lucas didn't deliver those ideas, he delivered HIS ideas. So many people my kind of age (I'm 42) hated on the prequels, where as the kids loved them, because they probably just enjoyed it for what it was. Now Theory is older, he's falling into that same trap. Of building expectations of what HE wants to see, like he did with the sequels etc. Well my 11yo kid LOVES the sequels, and the prequels and the OG, and all the new shows, because isn't that what Star Wars is aimed at? That doesn't detract from Star Wars at all. It's a fantasy universe where kids can enjoy the adventures of their favourite characters, and we as grown ass adults need to respect that and just chill and come along for the ride.
I heard a rumor bout Andor. I think it’s bout a confederacy member that joins the rebellion. According to Star Wars legends: Sen Organa and Mon Mothma were reaching out to the former confederacy and ask them to join the rebellion. The only agreement They had was: They must put their confederate past behind them. Recognize rebellion(New Republic)as the ruling legit government. Obey the orders and wishes of the command staff from military officers(Sen Bail Organa&Mon Mothma). But some of them didnt want too. But those who did. Enjoyed life in the rebel alliance. Mon Mothma gave them full pardons.
Would be dope if you have the time / energy to get any type of meet up going in Switzerland. If not enjoy your time around these parts! Also depending how long / where you're staying, you can visit the location where they shot the Anakin and Padme scenes at the Villa del Balbianello in Como Italy its like 3 hrs with a car and I promise you'll see some beautiful scenery driving along the freeway 😄.
Why are you expecting all these heroes to show up in Andor. It's supposed to be more about the 'little' people, not all the legendary Jedis, it makes no sense to me for them show up and 'steal the show'
Agreed. They probably have to pay royalties on "legacy" characters in merch, so are desperate to push their own, and 'surpass' what Lucas did (in their eyes anyway...). Also Gilroy is not a Star Wars fan. He's a great writer, but I don't think he really cares about cameos and stuff like that. BoBF and Kenobi showed us that fans have ideas that are never coming to screen because LF want to keep it simple (and repetitive) and not take risks or expand.
Yeah I want to see brand new characters not the same old legacy characters again. They say we need to move on from the same characters we see over and over but then they talk about all of these legacy characters showing up in Andor. Theres no need for characters like Darth Vader or Ahsoka or Kenobi to be in this show.
@Andrew Ros Sequels and Kenobi has lots of ideas we've seen before between rebels and Jedi; infiltration, capture, escape, attacking the rebel base, all ideas we saw in before 2005, where Jedi and Sith duel without doing anything we haven't seen before, without reaching any outcomes we haven't seen before. Mando actually had the originality of a bounty hunter giving up the guild to take a defenceless Force user to safety, only to form a bond with him. Much more original than Kenobi or the sequels, or Rogue One. And BoBF, although a mess, actually tried to tell a story about gangsters, and a bounty hunter finding belonging, again, something different than rebels vs Empire for the millionth time doing the same things.
@Andrew Ros the sequels is the OT all over again. Kenobi is ROTS again, in a 6 part homage to the PT and OT. No interesting new characters, vehicles, droids, planets, creatures, and zero development about Jedi, the Force or anything. All the characters in Rogue One are boring. The closest thing to originality is K2SO - a blend of 3PO's bluntness and R2's sass. What exciting things happen at Vader's castle? Nothing.
I hear Theory always saying "my worthy apprentice..." quote. I always think he is quoting Palps, but I saw the Last Jedi recently and that's what Snoke says to Kylo. 🤔
He actually says it to Kylo after Rey attempts to kill Snoke in the throne room with Kylo’s lightsaber. “My worthy apprentice. Son of darkness. Heir apparent to lord vader. Where there was conflict I now sense resolve. Where there was weakness, strength. Complete your training, and fulfill, your, destiny.”
Ole boy kinda sounds like hes from where im from. The great lakes are a magical place my guy. Feel lucky you are not land locked. Love all you guys do. Thanks for making me the most knowledgeable star wars person i know :)
As someone who's been onboard with an Andor series since it's announcement, I still am despite what Disney did with Fredo Fett and the Misadventures of Reva and Leia. That said, I still feel like Rogue One's story should have been Disney's flagship trilogy than the crap we got with the 'Rey Timeline'. And why not? Imagine what could have been if we had time to fall in love with the new cast instead of killing them off in their debut story? We would have actually felt something if we had two prior films that went about introducing them to the galaxy. And it would have been easy. The first film could have gone the same route as Rogue One's story, finishing just shy before the Saw arc, so the Death Star's existence is still a mystery but the Rebellion is aware something is big on the horizon. Second film BEGINS with the Saw arc, which consequently leads to a race to track down Galen Erso, ending with his tragic death at Eadu. (Which could have had the same power behind it like the finale for ESB) Then you have the third film and it's dedicated to retrieving the Death Star plans from Scarif.
Super down on Kenobi but I agree with Josh on Disney’s takeaways. If you look at Kenobi, small details took a lot of thinking like getting Anakin’s and Obi- Wan’s correct lightsabers in the flashback. Someone thought to put that in for fans to be like “damn they DO know Star Wars” but then they’ll have Luke get attacked by an Inquisitor or have a Star destroyer not be able to hit a tiny escape shuttle. They learn people want details they just get the details wrong epically
The disney way- 1) super strong female lead/ dark side conversion female 2) emasculate all the male characters 3) nothing new or original story wise 4) same sand & boring city locations 5) darth vader camio 6) take care of a baby/child 7) all men are bad 8) you go girl moments 9) no payoff to the story 10) mando/ grogu camio
I don't know if you all read the Rogue One prequel novel: Catalyst but that book was real good and I hope that they take advantage of it. The transition between the Republic to the evil galactic empire and all the people who are living it. I really enjoyed it.
The Star Wars celebration 4 day tickets are sold out, had to purchase them individually, and only Friday, Sunday and Monday were available. It cost me $400.
They do what the shareholders want rather than fan base. They are a public corporation now and whatever they can do to maximize profit is what they will do. The only way to prove to them that listening to the fan base is the right way to go is if they see numbers drop. Is it possible that they will listen to fans as a good business strategy, maybe, but it's the shareholders and CEO's that will always make the final calls.
Why the fuck would canada have fireworks for July 4th...and yes we did have fireworks for canada day. I literally live where theory does....and we have an international fireworks competition coming up😅
I'm actually glad Kenobi came out at the same time as Stranger Things and The Boys. They both blew Kenobi out of the water. People are gushing about Stranger Things and The Boys, no one is talking about Kenobi. Hopefully....this opens Lucasfilms eyes up to the reality....just Star Wars isn't enough...It has to be great.
SWOG here. I'll keep saying it. LF and Disney, write things for all levels of fans. Most of the SW fan feedback on here is for the 30-plus fan base - dark and very serious. I feel the OWK series was purposeful for kids. Andior will satisfy the older fans.
Yeah, but today’s kids should not be the target audience of Kenobi. They didn’t grow up watching him. That show should have been darker and more serious.
@@thechosendone8533 if you grew up with EP 1,2,3 those were kids and teen movies. As an OG SW fan i felt the same as you when they came out. But GL went the family way then.
With hayden back in picture i think they shoulb make a brand new clone wars video game , with anakin being main charactor staring hayeden . They shojld also have a dueling mode like in revenge of sith game. Which was the best.
For some odd reason I’m feeling more excited about Andor than Kenobi. It’s probably because I knew Deborah Chow was directing the entire thing, she did great in Mando, but I just thought if they really cared about the shows outcome they would’ve got someone like Dave Filoni to at least be more involved, like maybe supervising Director. And since Rogue One is in my top 3 SW movies, and they got the some of the same crew, I’m very hopeful.
Andor seems to be fully planned out from start to finish which is a breath of fresh air for Disney because they've been dropping the ball with both Star Wars and Marvel recently when it comes to movies and shows. At least now they seem to have a beginning, middle, and end of the story, unlike most other series recently which have great stars and great endings, but Bad to OK middles.
Well this one the characters already die off. Solo was another prequel, but they planned on a trilogy, sequels had no end point and neither does BoBF. Probably because Gilroy is outside of LF, and has pretty clear ideas about what he wants.
I only liked Rouge One, Mandalorian and Kenobi from Disney. So I'm so looking forward to Andor. I think it will surpass Mandalorian. I hope it has the star wars feeling in this like it did with Rouge One
Disney needs too learn from Netflix (Stranger Things), Prime (The Boys) and almost anything on hbo that full seasons and hr long shows work even better.
I really wish you both could productive/director chair do video/TV show you want and see how people complain about how did. Star Wars fans will never truly enjoy because there so many directions we can go.
24:00 We know the fates of the characters in Kenobi..lol...with the exception of Reva. 🤣 They had the added burden of keeping faithful to two of the most important core characters of the franchise. Tsk tsk
I am so baffled and confused as to why they decide to ignore some of the original kenobi writers plans. This reva idea makes her so much better. Guessing Disney just want a strong female character again even though they tried giving us loads and the best one, ahsoka, was created naturally
One comment says they want ahsoka to start like thrawn decimating the new republic. That should never have happened and the new republic should have been rebuilt alongside the jedi order at the original trilogy not made redundant
