Great job by the announcers pointing out how it should have been a 4 count. Gibbons pointing out how the ref moved while counting shows the attention to detail that made him a great coach. Burrows asking Roc to clarify. Excellent analysis. The the proper call was made.
The time spent on that review was ridiculous. If it takes that long, perhaps that's your signal not to overturn. I had no dog in this fight but who knows how else it affected the match dynamics.
talked to him afew weeks ago at my son’s tournament. Great attitude and humble guy. He took the time to watch some youngsters wrestle while preparing for this moment.
It looked like a lot of stalling in that last minute. I really wish they had better rules to keep the stalling from happening. In freestyle you lose a point if you go out of bounds.
It was 100% stalling, they didn’t call that but if you match up the time with the near fall… it wasn’t a full 4 seconds so it wasn’t a full 4 count, woods was definitely robbed of a title
@@jomama969 or, if they had called his stalling at all like he had done multiple multiple times, he would been at 6-6, as well as they gave him more points for near fall than he deserved, so woods definitely deserved the win
@@crackshot3454 Easy to speculate. Alirez wouldn’t let himself get called twice for stalling with under a minute to go. He would pick up the pace and the entire final minute changes and we don’t know what would have happened. You can’t look at it from a vacuum and say nothing else changes if you throw 2 more stall calls at Alirez.
Nickerson is going to be one of the great ncaa coaches. He would have been top dog at Cornell if not for his injuries. He continues to build a small program into a great one.
Why are NCAA wrestling reviews so long? At almost 7 and 1/2 minutes, this one was insane. But they routinely run several minutes. It's been this way the last couple of years and really affects the match.
Everybody wants to be the Monday night quarterback when the thing is these dudes got in there and banged and did there thing and ALIREZ brought it home so sit the fuck back and give credit where it's due and Andrew sr. You must be so proud hell yeah .....GTown BABY🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉PAPAZ..
Turn up the volume on your Bluetooth, just so it can almost blow out your eardrum when it switches to adds. I came to the comments wondering if anyone else is having this problem
Whats funnny is that hawk fans were blasting penn state for Bartlett loosing a match to northern Colorado….just wondering if those hawk fans are laughing now??😂😂
I find it ridiculous how us average spectators can call these "challenges" better than a committee of veteran refs. The review and over turning call should have taken 30 seconds tops.
Not a tight waist. If the very bottom of your palm is at the belly button its cool. Received that clarification a few years ago from NCAA ref Jeff Cook.
You can see how pissed Angel Rivera is that his call on the mat was overturned. Hes quite possibly the worst official in the NCAA currently. That goodness his poor officiating was overturned.
The Woods arrogance and sense of entitlement cost him a NC. Alirez was just bigger, stronger and more intelligent. Woods refused to change his tactics. Very similar to Dayton Fix inability to understand at this level you need to be able to change and adapt when your opponent is bigger and stronger.
I'll admit: I wanted Real to win since he went to high school in Chicago, but when they showed him back stage, he just seemed so arrogant and too sure of himself, while Alirez was focused and getting ready. This time, Alirez deserved it more.
@@randyh.7817 wrestled for several years and watch a ton of high school, college, and freestyle. My observation is when they break 90, they call near fall. Sorry for my “casual” opinion
Hearing people crying about stalling blows my mind if anybody is in alirez position your stalling makes absolute no sense to go on the offensive you’re gonna play defense I’m baffled by the low iq people in the comments
Nothing against Alirez, he did what he needed to win, but that is the worst championship officiating ever. They wouldn’t know stalling if it bit them in the ass…. Pushing out of bounds, holding on, and one offensive move the entire match…. Pathetic officiating….
