Those of us that were kids in the 70's thank those groups; Heart, Santana, Deep Purple, Hendrix, Cream, Led Zepplin and the Godfathers of hard rock Black Sabbath pave the way. Cause even though I listened to those albums over and over, they were my dad's albums. But Van Halen, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Motley Crüe, Def Leppard and Judas Priest were mines. But Heart always should I say had a special place in my ♥. Such crushes on these ladies. And after growing up always finding them connected to bands I love.|
Still beautiful after all these years, Ann Wilson is the greatest female rock lead vocalist of all time ... I'm really beginning to think she'll never be topped.
I thought when I heard her talk, "that sounds like her!!!" Well of COURSE it does, it IS her!!! Just so sad about the sister rift. You only have one family. I get the part about Nancy's boys. Yep, it would be hard to reconcile.
my name...Robert Keith Wilson jr. a few years back i found out that i have cousins in washinton state that go back to my grgr grandparents...who had 2 sons i am from james to harry to robert senior to me james brother ..william theophilus has 2 gr grandsons in washington state..i dont have all the names in between...but...ive had a longtime love for heart...i sometimes joke about ann and nancy being from our large imortal family...if i do further research...i think it would be fantastic if we are blood related...odds are low but not impossible....geneology aside these 2 ladies are a class act...led zep is probably my no.1 alltime favorite ...paul rodgers a close 2nd... im watching this as i write...i love the humble integrity she carries..and we all should take note of her careful choice of words and her articulate speech here...most of all no profanity which has become so mainstream these days....to the younger listeners here...this is what CLASS is . ..
No dude, you're the one who is deaf. Listen to her sing in the '70's or even the '80's and tell me she has the full range that she did. The answer to that is NO.
Agreed. I know exactly which part of that song you're referring to! Even better are the ones she belts out in Crazy On You. Heart's performance of that song on Burt Sugarman's Midnight Special is still my favorite video to this day. It literally gives me chills every time I watch it.
Thanks Ann for shining a light on Chris Cornell - still can't believe:( 'Gotchic Garden' that is as prophetic as 'I was a weeping willow last night in my dream'...love you Ann (&Nancy)!!
To me , Ann is the singer of the centery. No other voice moves me the way she does. I was 15 when Dream Boat Annie came out.....and the "Magic Man" is still ...MAGIC...!!!
I happened to be in Canada when I discovered Heart's 2nd album, Little Queen. At age 17, of course I bought it, in stereo 8 track. I still think it one of THE best rock albums ever.
I find it hard to believe that, when JP and JPJ were looking at guys like Steven Tyler some years ago, nobody said, "Hey...what about these two ladies?"
I was actually at the show in Vancouver WA, the day after that Auburn WA gig in which that situation occurred. My girlfriend and I saw them a year earlier and they were incredible. But that fateful day after we noticed that they seemed off. Just a lack of energy.
@@shawnuel I saw them in 1980..original line-up....but on that summer day...they were losing the focus..maybe it was the heat..maybe it was relationships strained. I LOVED "Dog and Butterfly"..but they wern't quite up to it that day. By Next year. It was over..and has never recovered. So yeah..Id love a reunion.
Agreed. And to hear that she (toured?) with Paul Rogers and Jeff Beck - two of my all-time faves - wow. Would love to have seen that. Gotta be some of that on here (RU-vid) right? Ann Wilson, if not THE G.O.A.T. female rock vocalist, certainly one of the top 2 or 3 (and my personal favorite). And for me, Paul Rogers - and there have been some greats - is best male rock vocalist, period. Not that my opinion isn't widely shared.
@@jazluvr99 Paul was definitely one of the greatest and still to this day the guy sounds just as good not like Robert plant how in my opinion don't sounds anything like he used to even McCartney for that matter.Paul Rogers sounds like he did 30years ago.
Love you girly, blessings. What an honor you are to the world of music. You were my favorite singer in 1980s, and you are still my favorite singer today. Ty, dearly.
I say this with utmost respect for Ann Wilson, you were pretty in your youth and now you beautiful and your voice stops time and brings light and life ever time I hear it .
Anne Wilson has a good set of pipes, sings from down below, the diaphragm...Her chest & head work beautifully together, her Vocal Range is much like Robert Plant, being a TENOR with high range & flexibility of Notes....🎶🗣🎙
I got to see Heart twice in Tucson when I was in the Air Force in the 70s. I'll never forget it. Before that I saw West, Bruce, and Laing do Politician, among others. One of my favorites.
One of the top female voices from these past decades--always a favorite. Glad to have been mere feet from her in a live acoustical performance. Will never forget Ann or Nancy. Marvelous talent.
Back in the Mid 70s these ladies blew the recording industry on there as. They played great music ,when the dichead in the industry tried to pigeonhole them ,they fought back very hard. They did what had to be done to keep the band alive. And are still very relevant.
Unfortunately jimmy knows better than to stand next to Ann Wilson and sing , he’s a rock god in the eyes of everyone , but she will make him look pretty average and he wouldn’t want that he’s to smart , I heard her sing stairway to heaven and it actually was better than the original and I am a true Led zeppelin fan!
Tony Whitaker Would be very awkward, though, if you slept with two members of that band (Nancy had relationships with both Roger Fisher & Mike Delosier). 😱
Ann is one of the most important singers in the past 40 years. She and Nancy created Heart and became one of the most iconic bands of the 70’s and 80’s. I can’t wait to see Heart back together again.
Excellent interview. These kinds of interviews were so rare when I was growing up and I was so much in love with Heart's Ann and Nancy that I wished there would have at least been RU-vid. Thanks for this upload. Ann--such a great sport! Keep using your time and talent wisely.
I love that Ann is doing well in her solo career. I also love that Nancy is thriving with Roadcase Royale. I was devastated when they parted ways after the fiasco. But now, I'm not bothered much by their split. They're getting to spread their wings in other directions. And they're both doing great. ☺🌻💛
I've loved Heart since. their first album hit the stores way back in the middle 70's, Magic Man, Baracuda, crazy on you, etc! I was born musically inclined , which runs in my family, thank you god! Also thanks to my southern born self taught musician father💞I've grown up wanting to be a singer similar to Ann because she was the biggest female influence on me as a teenager💞I'll be 58 yrs. Young, and my go to karaoke song I start out with is a Heart song💞I've won many karaoke contests over the yrs. I did sing in a friends band back in the early 80's, It just so happens it would be Led Zepplin, Heart, Bad Company. I know she loves them very much, aswell as myself! I've seen Heart 5 times in my life, and well over 100 others💞I just love Ann so much and hope I'll get another chance to see them again. Great Interview💞✌
I saw heart 4 times in my life. Never disappointed. Once in our middle school in Canada. Three times in Vancouver. Once with Cheap Trick Once with Rush. I could be wrong, but I think it was with Sammy Hagar. Timeless.
I love the thoughtfulness and the intelligence of Ann Wilson. What an articulate person she is and a beautiful soul she has. I could listen to Ann Wilson share her thoughts on any subject from now until the end of time. God Bless this SPECIAL woman.
She is just fantastic... I love to hear her sing. One of the best ever. I could listen to her talk forever!!! And I STILL have the biggest crush on her. :)
I had the privilege of seeing Ann and Heart at Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ on their Little Queen tour back in the mid '70s. In fact it was on August 16th, 1977. That was the day the world learned that Elvis had died. She made the announcement, now Twitter or Facebook back then, when they came out for their encore and dedicated Zeppelins "Rock n Roll" to the king.
OMG! I was at that show in NJ. I lived a few towns over from Asbury Park...what an excellent tour that was. Little Queen is one of my favorite Heart albums of all time.
+Steven Dell'Olio Cool, I lived in Eatontown back then. I was sitting in the front row, center balcony. Probably the best seats, except for front few rows on the floor.
For me as a fan, could you conceive having Steve Perry and Ann Wilson having children ? A Girl looking like her and belting out gritty but beautiful songs and a Son singing like Steve, perhaps with a little Ann Wilson grit. Talk about a match made in musical heaven 🎤 🎤 🎸 🎸 🤘 🤘 ! ! !
Ann was right about guys being part of the Me 2 movement. Robot Raven put out a song this year called Me 2 on there Set To Soar album about just that. You nailed it Ann !
just caught Ann and Paul and Jeff Beck in Dallas great show we drove in about 100 miles out and caught last half of Anns set and wish Id heard more just so much traffic.. Paul Rogers was really strong sounded just fantastic and Jeff Beck was on. I was at Texas Jam 1 also 125 degrees on the floor and Heart was great nice to see them all again. Took my Son to that and Boz Scaggs was Aug 29 and he was just as strong as Paul Amazing pipes and soul... Nice to see you Ann...
I talked to Her on Twitter. She was so COOL. I didn't realize it was the real Ann Wilson at first. She says she likes to connect with fans. I hate that in the past Nancy got all the attention cause she was the sexy one.Ann was always my favorite
I maybe just a crazy guy. But I'm a huge fan of Ann and Jimmy. Why not try to shout this out in a "status line" with every comment we do: "Hey, Jimmy! Ann Wilson want's to sing with you!" Maybe it will reach out to him. C'mon, girls and boys: let's tell him the great news! Greetings from the far north of germany!
I still remember skate boarding at Clairemont High, San Diego hearing Barracuda on the v.w. bug radio. Have photos with Ann and Nancy and yes Ann you are beautiful too. Met you in Huntsville, Alabama.
All the songs I re listen to, that heart did, I go to the songs of beauty, the stars, peaceful songs. In this frustrating world of today, I'm guessing we need this. & no one does it better then the sisters.
Saw heart Bebe La Strange tour. Ann Wilson! Absolutely incredible live! Studio doesnt compare. In awe. Like Steven Perry Escape tour. Even Neil gave a bow.
I realize there were a lot of hurt feelings with the relationship breakups, but that has been so long ago and they have all moved on with their personal lives. It is really is time for them to bury the hatchet and just play music. The chemistry with that lineup is unreal. Every time I see the video of Heart playing at California Jam II, it still gives me goose bumps. Cal Jam II has what I think is their best version of Barracuda.
I was smitten with the Wilson sisters back in the 80's. They were beautiful back then, and very nicely dressed in their MTV videos. Wah wah wah!! Ann looks very lovely in this interview. Not sure what happened with the sisters, why they have some issue that has made things icy cold. Hoping one day they will warm their sisterhood, bury the hatchet, and all will be great again.
