Thanks Meghan! As a cancer survivor, I've been incorporating all of these different foods into my diet to prevent recurrence. Thanks so much for the information and reassurance that I'm doing the right thing. May I ask you, what brand of matcha do you use? There are a lot of good ones, but also some that aren't quite as good. Thanks in advance. I love all of the great information that you provide on your channel!

Very informative video ! I personally use turmeric with black pepper because it enhances the absorption of curcumine. I often eat olive oil, avocados and seeds but I feel like I could increase my consumption of leafy greens, cruciferus veggies and whole grains. I reduced significantly my consumption of animal products but I do still eat a bit of salmon once in a while.

Hi Meghan, i am your avid fan and viewer 😊, though i don't comment a lot, but this time of my life, i think i have to request to you to make a video for Chronic Kidney disease meal plan, because I'm struggling for my dad he has ckd stage 4 and maybe coming to five, we don't go to dietitian yet. Tips and ideas for meal plan, or snacks etc. His potassium and sugar are high also, and i think there's a lot of viewers will be interested to that cause only few videos on YT and most of those videos doesn't have a lot of meal planning. Its really hard to think of what food will be next to cook. Thank you so much! ❤️

@brightpurpleviking

I love all these foods! (Ginger and turmeric in limited quantities though) my problem is going into the grocery and being fully overwhelmed and then not knowing what to do. I wish there was an app that told me what to buy, one where I could put in “meals for two with leftovers” haha! There used to be a book called Saving Dinner that came with a rotating menu and attached shopping list, but it was just basic foods..no super foods or anti-inflammatory meals, etc.

Would love a recipe on millet, buckwheat and spelt. I’ve never made them and I don’t think I’ve had them either... would love just some ideas... has to be yummy so I’ll try again hehe... so I can start putting them in our rotation. I eat almost all the stuff u mentioned here except these... and hemp and flax seeds. But ya I eat all those pretty regularly. I’m buying hemp and flax seeds this weekend. I’ve had them before but it’s been awhile. I don’t know why it wasn’t something I use regularly. I do a lot of other nuts and seeds though like almonds, pistachio, cashews, sunflower, pumpkin and chia seeds.

Great question! Cooking/steaming them can help and also not eating too much at once. The FODMAPs in them are often a culprit! In this case, low and slow is the way to go (eating smaller amounts and gradually increasing over time) xx

@meghanlivingstone
@meghanlivingstone 3 года назад
Hey there! Most seeds are fine as is, including chia seeds, but flax seeds are better eaten ground as their beneficial fats are better absorbed that way, otherwise yes they'll pass through you! I like to store whole flaxseeds in my fridge and grind them in small amounts as needed. So I usually have a small jar of ground flax in my fridge too!

This is basically the same list of foods recommended for healthy skin in a book I recently read by another nutritionist (Erica Angyal). The most beneficial and nutrient dense food is good for your skin, your gut, and your overall health as well. Love these foods and great reminder to everybody to enjoy these regularly in their diet. For people who have a hard time figuring out how to get these foods in their diet, maybe you can do a video that focuses on easy swaps and suggest foods that can easily be swapped out for these healthier option? Also, I have been doing a carrot, tomato, turmeric, and ginger juice recently and it’s so good! Mine is savory like a Bloody Mary, but you could do a sweet version without the tomato and with orange instead, since that’s also a great option high in vitamin C
@iamgorrgeousss
@iamgorrgeousss 3 года назад
Do you steam your carrot or just eat them raw?
@lolasaysyes
@lolasaysyes 3 года назад
@@iamgorrgeousss I usually eat it raw in a salad. From what I understand, the beta carotene is most easily absorbed if you cut the carrot finely, so grated, julienned, or juiced. Since it’s an oil soluble vitamin, it’s better to eat it with some oil (olive oil from the salad in my case). Both raw and cooked are good but I am lazy and prefer the least amount of cooking!

Hi there! There’s not a ton of research that supports the idea that nightshades should be avoided in those with inflammatory conditions. It totally depends on the person. If you find they aggravate your symptoms then best to limit them but otherwise I wouldn’t stress too much!

If you have IBS can you have whole grains or they are irritating for the gut?
@meghanlivingstone
@meghanlivingstone 3 года назад
This will depend on the person - in those with a very sensitive gut then refined grains (like white rice) can be much gentler. Over time you can try slowly incorporating more whole grain options, using smaller quantities, until you’re able to tolerate them better :) During any kind of flare up though, the refined options can be helpful.
