I just got back to playing online games after a 1.5 year hiatus and I now appreciate playing every character and getting my butt kicked. Even fighting axel as nago is fun for me now. I'm just glad to be playing again 😂

I wanted Slayer in the game and I couldn’t be happier.

Everyone acts like their main is entitled to be busted when they are because it's strive, but you can only do this to a certain extent before the majority is going to rule you out. If the dodge rate for a particular character is starting to climb, that's objective data that has nothing to do with player sentiment. It's just a fact that you can consider.

Slayer just simply does too much damage. If they toned him down it would be fine.

​@@iceinkI mean Slayer doesn't seem *that* strong. He's just annoying and tricky. The biggest upside to him is absurd damage and making your opponent scared. Once they're scared they make stupid decisions which they get hurt for. He's definitely strong but he hasn't done anything egregious from what I've seen

I've been waiting for Slayer since the Strive released, and I reinstalled the game, because of this character. Just, because Chun-Li is busted in 3rd Strike doesn't mean she should be that way in every game; what are you even saying dude ?

keep in mind he was a harder character to play and was usually a mid tier character

I think we can expect that data to even out eventually. It’s a lot easier to learn how to win with Slayer than it is to learn how to beat him, probably more than any other character in the game atm. That will skew matchup data hard.

"Airtight, autopilot 30 second uninterruptable offense" does not exist in this game. It was *theoretically* possible for Asuka at one point, but even then it wasn't practical or worthwhile and required the use of tech that even the best Asuka players do not use consistently, let alone loop.

@@yahshuaquinonez8366 Because that's how fighting games work. You want to know how to beat a character you have to know how they work, I'm really not sure how else to explain it to you. This applies in every fighting game.

I mean. Slayer’s worst matchup rn is 50% against himself for the top 1000 players. The next one is 59% against aba.

To me it just seems like slayer is very easy to play in comparison to some of the other characters since he can severely punish a mistake with only a very simple combo, so people that do make those sorts of mistakes at lower levels are punished by slayer heavily, something that not many players at that level could do because it would require more elaborate combos from other characters. Not to say that there aren't any other characters that have such high damage or easy combos, but with pot or nago they at least have some downsides which kinda balance it at that skill level

as an aba main, he ain't that bad to fight (especially compared to axl)

@@AubergineMans quite a lot yh, but then again you also have your i-no, bridget, millia, chaos, etc. who don't do that much damage (compared to the others, ofc haha) but instead they set up situations that skew the risk-reward so hard in their favour they can usually keep rolling. And then you also have the characters like axl, testament, johnny etc. who (are meant to) win neutral more often, but get less reward. Damage is very high across the board in strive, but slayer is definitely one of the characters that will fucking detonate you if you get touched by him lol. Personally idm his damage, and I think he's fine overall, but I will admit that when i'm playing against him for the 78th time this week, I do sometimes feel the irrational anger of "why the fuck does he just have the ignorant miracle cure to all situations: mappa hunch", but at least I let myself cool off instead of taking to twitter to complain about how he's "broken" lol. He can be frustrating to fight when you play dozens of sets against dozens of slayers in a row all playing near-identically, but he's not broken or unfair, and I don't even really dislike him, I think he's cool, I just see him way too much xD

I think he's cool overall, but when I play against dozens of slayers in a row all playing almost identically, I do begin to get frustrated at the cure-all to neutral in mappa hunch haha

Nah, Slayer always likes that. But a good challenge in the old game with huge damage reward. Strive design-wise Slayer should be easy for marketing purposes. We are definitely going to see some damage nerf and the issue will be resolved 🙃

Nope. The only possible exceptions are Izuna, Paradigm and valentine, because only 5 people in the world actually played overture.

@@f7y6 It's not supposed to do anything. I'm just sharing my two cents on why I don't really feel like dealing with Slayer sometimes. Also I would rather deal with HC 100% of the times over Slayer.

​@@heracrossz7701honestly, I think he's right, I think with every passing season, the character get more and more cool or interesting, making the older character obsolete or just plain boring to play. I think the older characters might need a little bit of a re-work, but nothing too crazy.

@@Bonemannes yeah, not all of the them are bad, Nago is struggling, Baiken doesn't seem to be doing too well either, Potemkin, Zato, Axl seems like a struggle character too, I feel like May is also a rare sight nowadays, but I might be wrong with all off this. I lowkey feel like the only reason why people still play these characters are because of character loyalty, I feel like the newer characters are just getting outclassed such as Nago, Slayer literally just does everything better than Nago, so it's like, why the hell would you play him when you can play Slayer and get more from him?
