It’s actually insane how well the engineers at Apple made this look beautiful while also making it incredibly thermal efficient due to the G5. I miss this Apple. They never compromised.
Let me just stop for a second and tell you, regardless of my ill feelings towards Apple and its practices in general, that 8gbs of ram was *M A S S I V E* in 2003. Like, 256gb of ram today.
Even 4GB are huge in 2003. Actually his main concern is because G5 is first 64 bit desktop processor, it can go beyond 4GB barrier in 32 bit desktop processor that mainstream at that time. So he mentioned it so many times just for people can aware that
This presentation is 21 years old as I type this comment.... Even in these "Apple is hip again days" it is amazing to see how many numbers they threw at people. Granted it was WWDC, but the last WWDC was 2023 and aside from a few things regarding graphics and specs, it was mostly aimed at the idea of, "it's so simple!" You'd think, 20 years on, humans would be more adapted to tech, but it turns out selling tech to people is getting harder and harder. You really have to almost pick up someone else's finger, place it on the touch screen and then look at their eyes and say, "did you see how it reacted?" And yet you still have a 50/50 chance of them saying, "yeah".
Remember, when Apple makes a new design for their product, it’s the most amazing design ever, and when Apple puts something new in the old design, it’s incredible how they fit all this technology in rhetorical same familiar package.
seriously? are you sure? they put it up against a shitty pentium 4 which was slower then the amd athlon 64 back then and they are barely beating out the pentium 4 dual xeon system out it shows how blind they were back then which shows why they shifted to intel a couple years later
