I am NOT exaggerating when I say you are one of the BEST at explaining everything IN DETAIL. You said TWO ounces of this and TWO ounces of that. You did not skirt over it. I love so much your videos. I am pretty new to your channel---66 year old retired female doing what I can to maintain what I can. But I must have missed the reason for the Dawn detergent. I treated my St. Augustine just today with the SAME product and brand in granular form...just this morning. It was the Sta Green 30-0-4 with humic and sea kelp and with other nutrients. By the way, I laid down my own St AUGUSTINE sod a couple of months ago. One of the hardest things I have done.
Thats wonderful that you were able to lay your own sod. That Sta Green product you used is another great product that I'll be using in the future also. The dawn is a surfactant, it helps the liquid product stick to the grass leaf blades and break the surface tension down faster making the product more efficient. Thank you very much I appreciate your support and I'm glad that I could help.
I tried getting that Sta-GREEN Fert. All the Lowes are out of stock. I guess everyone saw your video. Anyway... you said you were going to keep feeding with the Sta-Green and that boost of Iron Fert. Please keep us in the loop about how that continues to work for you. Looking at your lawn now that combo has made a great lawn absolutely amazing. Thanks for sharing your experiences with your lawn. ❤
Found your channel by accident. I've watch most of your video. They are excellent! They give a bro like me hope in the work I'm doing on my lawn. I love your tips. Keep it up.
A very well put together video, it's your attitude to lawn care that is so relaxed and easy to understand. Your lawn is looking great and you prove that it's possible for the DIY enthusiast to have a nice lawn without spending silly money. Great job, best wishes from Northern Ireland 👍
That's how I grew up in the community all the neighbors looked out for one another. So I'll carry on that method. Thank you for your support I appreciate it
Hi, found your video by accident and was very impressed; your smooth and calm demeanor allows me to fully understand what and why you use the different products. I went out and brought some of the products you used and I saw some improvements. Now I know what works for my lawn. Continue to put out educational videos to help us DIY’ers get better lawns; When I get my lawn looking like yours I will send you a picture of my accomplishment. Until next time, Peace
I am just catching up watching your videos. Once again I went forever using pump sprayer from box store. I just got a yard mastery 4 gallon battery back sprayer literally this week. I need something to cover more space to spot treat and soon maybe move from granular to liquid only apps. Aware I need to refill a few times with my 15k yard. I am glad to see anyone take care of their lawn for aesthetics and improve quality of neighborhood value not to mention not give weeds to neighbors. Be my true brothers keeper and not selfish. 😊
Nice 👍 I feel that it’s helpful to have someone show how easy it is to keep the lawn looking great with little $ just time and ❤. Thanks for the content!
Great work bringing up your backyard from a lawn full of weeds! My lawn was very heat stressed and has neatly recovered with just rain and one app of soil loosener and milorganite.
Ok anther great video, thanks. Here's a tip for your fertilizer apps... If you have the opportunity to do so water your lawn at least 5-6 hours before your application, preferably a day before ( wet soil will absorb those nutrients/ fertilizer much better than dry soil. ) Now the lawn / soil doesn't have to be drenched, you just want that soil better prepared to absorb the fertilizer. You will still have to water they product in. I hope this helps someone , God bless.
I used the sta- green all natural ferterlizer. I like the results. I like putting the humic acid in my lawn. I like treating the soil. Did not know about the sta-green micro liquid product, will have to go see if my Lowes has it. Thanks for the update.
Sta Green has stepped up their product line big time. Supplying us DIYers with great products that we can go right into the store and purchase right away. Treating your soil is key to a healthy lawn. Thank you for your support
Your videos have helped me get rid of the weeds in my lawn, and for that, I can't thank you enough. But I'm still having problems with Bahiagrass. I'll look back in the videos, but I don't remember if you spoke on that type. Thanks for the information.
I've never mentioned that grass type because its so rare no ever mentions it but I'll definitely start mentioning it going forward. Thank you for bringing that grass variety to my attention
I have that exact sharpening stone, works awesome. I've even used it on scissors and hedge trimmers. You have so many options in that backyard. Me I would create a garden bed either straight back or in that right corner by the shed. Either flowers or a vegetable garden. Wow those lawn stripes are so nice, I gotta figure out how to find Sta-Green in my state.
Yes that sharpener works wonders. I've been thinking about doing a garden for a little while now. I'll get to it soon thank you for your support and suggestions
The dawn is used as a surfactant it helps the product stick better on the leaf blades making the product work more efficiently. You can also use Baby shampoo also instead of the dawn. Thank you for your support 🙏🏾
I've got the same blade sharpener. Works wonders if you put your blade on a vice. A couple weeks ago I threw down some milorganite and some liquid 1-0-1 with kelp, sugars, biochar, enzymes, etc on my lawn and damn, it has never looked so healthy without the extra growth. It was brown and dry now it's green and healthy.
Gorgeous.....mine looks like crap I have not done anything.. I got dang on wasp and tell jackets.... So I have the rescue WHY I put two up yesterday...so we shall see what I get in a few days...hard rain here today.
Man I need some help!! Yard looking crazy because I never made time to take care of it because of the lack of knowledge of knowing how and now it’s really bad. You have a video that explains the steps for beginners like me.
You were the type of bro I use to hate on with the waves. I guess its the genes. I have thin hair and tried the pomade and lady perms etc and I had the baby ripples not waves but now bald. I can’t deal with looking for old friends to clean me up. I have saved thousands since then. Lol.
Thank you. Putting in the work is definitely key. And I'm not sure if the shed was custom built it came with the house but if I had to guess I would say more than likely it was a custom build.
I went by the reviews and purchased the lawn mower. I had no advice or knowledge about it. I put it together yesterday and used it today to cut my front yard. This is how I reviewed it on Amazon>>> '''So far, I am absolutely loving this mower. Lightweight, easy to maneuver, and performs like a hungry workhorse....cutting thick grass with ease. There are some things which need improvement----clearer instructions on putting together some of the parts...kinda irritating when you let go of the handle it shuts off. There should be an option as to whether you want it that way. There should be a warning about that lowest cutting level which will scalp your grass. That cord keeps coming unplugged in spite of the cord bracket. It is still a five star unit. Thank you for thinking of female seniors when you made this.'' By the way, my yard looks absolutely amazing. It took me about an hour to cut the front yard.. I then put a treatment of fungicide and insect treatment on it. It would have taken less time to cut it but I have a very steep yard and getting use to that cord, trying to keep from running over it. I finally worked out a system.
Thats sounds wonderful. I'm happy that things worked out good for you with the new lawn mower. Yes be careful on that low setting that setting with definitely scalp your grass. But overall that's great to hear that you're happy with the tool overall. Thank you for your support
I remember a gardener that had a blade that looked like a fillet knife from sharpening so much and it was almost as sharp as one, his cuts were perfect, he would balance it on his finger.
Bro, put that blade in a vice or it can jump out your hand and hit you in the face, not to mention the metal dust flying around. Your Grass Game is on Point.
That's sweet but you're neighbor does have a lot of dead branches she needs to trim the tree way way back cause a good storm could make that tree hit a house.
I noticed that the stripes are wider (could be wrong but looks like the mower is a 21" or 22" inch). Did you double -pass the pattern or is your striper wider than the mower? Thanks in advance and the looks great!
I have a 21" so I did a double pass to get the double wide stripes. Just switching up the design a little playing with the striper. I actually think the wider stripes look better. Thank you for your support
Thank you I was definitely thinking about changing out this fence maybe this fall. And I'm working on getting my links up with all the products soon. Thank you once again for your support
Bruh, you are the man! I'm in NY Long Island and I'm following your channel and learning. Do yo feel the tall fescue is better than the big box northeast blends which include Kentucky Blue grass and fescue?
They're pretty much the same for cool season lawns. I'll say the blended variety like northeast blends may actually have a slight edge because you're getting 2 grass type varieties like Fescue, Kentucky bluegrass, and sometimes a 3rd like Ryegrass. Having multiple varieties of grass is a major plus because each type has their own strengths and weaknesses. I have a turf type tall fescue yard so if I get attacked by a lawn disease that attacks fescue at a high rate I can possibly lose my lawn. But if you have multiple grass type ( a blended yard) if a certain disease attacks the fescue but Kentucky bluegrass or Ryegrass is stronger against that same disease you'll still have a lawn if that makes sense. I hope this helped and sorry about the long response.
@@LawnAmateur Thanks for the reply, and it wasn't long at all, i appreciate the thoroughness. I'm just loving he look of your lawn and was wondering if I over seed in the fall and spring with tall fescue will it eventually dominate the lawn? Or will it create a messy mixture of different types? When I over seeded this spring I used the Johnathan Green Black Beauty Sun & Shade which is a combination of Tall Fescue, Perennial Rye & Kentucky Bluegrass.
Great well explained video , really enjoy watching all these videos , anyway my question is how much and how often put down these liquids (micronutrient, lawn aerate) i did the 2oz each. Once a month 2wks. Whole bottle says 4k sqft and its 32oz so 8oz each app 4 times a year? Lawn responded well. I added k to it as well 5oz.
Just mowed my lawn.. some yellow ish and thinning in some areas. Not sure if its dieases but I certainly seemed to have bright yellow almost white spots maybe due to fertilize burns. Any ive been waterint daily since itsnbeen hot 90 degrees and up every day. What can i put to help thicken, green during this summer. Also, ive noticed many mushrooms in various areas, what could have caused them to grow? Is it just the organic matter in the soil or are these results of disease? Note: the shrooms aren’t coming from where the yellowish spots are. The yellow spots are necessarily circles but more rows and some patches . Thanks for reading lol
With the weather being so hot and you're water more the mushrooms tend to pop up alittle more like you said the organic matter and also the moisture in the lawn is helping to produce the mushrooms not too big of a deal they'll disappear or u can pull them out. The thinning could be caused by a disease take a look at the grass leaf blade if its has spots on it then yes its a disease and you should treat it with a fungicide. Remember water deep and infrequently
Hey I was wondering have you done an application of Biochar to your lawn? And sorry if you mentioned this already but what type of grass seed do you use? Is it TTTF?
Great video!! I loved the story in the beginning and I bet that was a double entendre (I’m sure Mrs LA is treated very well 😉) and you were the first I saw to bring STA GREEN to the forefront great job showing us all it doesn’t take a ton of money or a commercial company to have a beautifully thriving lawn, happy Summer!! #tunedin
Thank you. The Sta Green product line is filled with a bunch of interesting products and easily accessible to DIYers. Of course Mrs LA is treated well 🤣. The 1st point of lawn care should be having fun. Thank you for your support. I hope you're enjoying your summer as well
Wow I hit SUBSCRIBE! Very easy to understand. Your lawn is so nice and lush. Mine is --- no comment :). My lawn is light green with brownish at the bottom, but I am getting mushrooms. I'm thinking maybe my soil is compacted and I should try liquid aeration. Do you think that might help me?
Yea you can definitely start using the liquid aeration that'll start helping to loosen up the soil. If you're getting mushroom that's not a bad thing it just means your soil has alot of organic material which is good for the soil. The mushrooms will go away once the sun comes out and the lawn dry out. Thank you for subscribing I appreciate the support
Where you get filing drill attachment? Must be nice to have a tiny yard compared to 15 to 20k. I use to like exercise on push mower due to no space garage plus don’t want shed on my lawn. Plus like mower lines better. But with POA in fesque lawn and spurge that I must do pre emergent in fall. I envy you and hate my 7 yr house lawn with bad choice in elevation now looking to move. It’s 1.8 acre. You want to buy it ? Lol.
I actually would love 15 to 20k yard 🤣🤣. I purchased this home in my early 20s so it was fitting for me being my first home but I'm looking to move in a couple years I'll definitely be looking for a big lot lol. I purchased the fitting at Lowe's its called Arnold sharpener.
@@LawnAmateur thanks for info on sharpener. I live at lowes and rather another method than manual filer. Be careful for what you wish for with larger yard. It’s my first house and regret it every day. House Too large for only 2 and I am soon 52. Worse developer (in house also poorly constructed at 7 yrs old brand new). House market hard to find new home to move into. neighborhood out of 50 - 80 plus homes only 3-4 take care of lawn.
I'm not an expert but I think your only supposed to sharpen the top side of the blade??? Look in to it . Always enjoy your videos. Press on in the good work sir 👍
I know. Its a little trick I learned from my grandfather to just hit the backside of the blade just a little to smooth and knock the rust it out and meet the top side at the center point. Thank you for your support I appreciate it
@@LawnAmateur I just added a new vinyl fence very expensive. I just got into bringing my lawn back this year after about 8 years of just cutting and watering. Thanks again for all the great tips!!! God Bless you!!
@ericmoney3331 no problem and yes the prices for fences are insane even the wooden one like I have so I can only imagine the price of the vinyl fence smh but thank you for your support 🙏🏾
I Don't have any other way to ask you this but to post here...I am considering mowing my own yard because my yard guys don't seem to sharpen the blade on the mower which tears at the blades of my St. Augustine. It breaks my heart because the grass, which is what laid myself, is so thick and pretty. My question is... will this lawnmower {LawnMaster MEB1114K Electric Corded Lawn Mower 15-Inch 11AMP} sold on Amazon be capable enough to do the mowing. I SPECIFICALLY wanted an electric / corded mower that is lightweight because of my age...being 66 and female. I would have to lift onto a 4ft retaining wall which has grass each time. I do not understand Amp etc as it relates to being capable enough to cut my thick St. Augustine. Thank you.
@@LawnAmateur .23 acres altogether in the front. about the same in the backyard. But it's split down the middle by a concrete walk in the front yard. Relatively smaller yard, big enough. Another reason I want an electric mower is that I wouldn't think it has a carburetor. Correct me if i am wrong. I don't want to have to unclog such a thing or work on it. Wouldn't know how, etc. if you have a better recommendation for a mower, please let me know. I TRUST your opinion. I have watched many of your videos. So INFORMATIVE and well exhibited.
