Arctic has been pretty quiet with new product launches this year, they released some new coolers for the server market recently but new desktop products have been quite thin on the ground which is why we haven’t featured Arctic much on the channels in recent months. However, we hear a lot of comments about how good Arctic P12 fans are so we thought we would take a look at the P12 Max and see what, if any thermal performance benefits they can offer. Interesting review. I've been using Arctic fans for a while, I have eighteen P14's on a Mo-Ra 420 -- all running well, no infant mortalities and very quiet. I hope Arctic introduces a P14 Max.

If you get the Arctic PST version, you can daisy chain the fans, eliminating the need to buy splitters, i only have 3 fan headers so this saved me another £8-10 or something. P12 1800rpm perform very nearly as well as Noctua NFP12 redux 1700rpm for less than half price, not including the required splitters.

Yeah, well, P12 Max to the rescue. One of these helped keeping the temps in my vertical towered SAMA IM01 REALLY low. Looking forward to see them work their magic on my future system, which is going to feature the SilverStone Vida 240, ie. with a 22 mm thin rad!

I've bought 3 LFII 280. All 3 came missing AMD mounting screws, Arctic did respond very quickly with replacement screws on all 3 occasions. Recently, two PCs started making extra noise and I found broken fan supports. I e-mailed Arctic and let them know I replaced all 4 fans with Noctua Cromax ones. I did look into RGB fans, but so far, Lian Li only sells them in 3 packs. The "Swafans" same thing. The new P-12s may be really good fans, but I've had ONE Noctua fan fail in 6 PCs I've built for myself, friends and family. The components in the X-78 are still going strong. I do like the cooling performance of the LFII, but the thicker radiator size does make installing them a bit of a challenge and the stock fans are reasonably quiet. If you want an AIO, the LFII line performs really well.

Thanks for a video with no music and for using fast-forward to save us from the boring parts. When I saw the new fan wobbling at 00:56 I knew the fan's longevity would be questionable. ARCTIC might say the fan only does this during its "Break-in" period. If you think this is normal, please let me know if you want to buy some lovely oceanfront property in Kansas?

The annular ring around the impeller blades is the important change from the older P12. It stops the blade resonance at certain RPM which was unavoidable if the P12/P14's ramped up and down on a controller. I substituted a couple of the RGB P14's (with the ring) for the standard ones for that reason. Hopefully Arctic will release a P14 Max.

I bought these for my Ryzen 7950x a few months ago. They keep it cool enough to overclock the CPU to 5.40 Ghz on CCD1 and 5.25 Ghz on CCD2 (at ~20*C ambient). I too use them on the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360. Beware that some P12 Max fans are prone to early rattle. I had to replace 1 of the 3 fans after just a week of usage due to this. There's a reason they are this cheap. Thankfully, the replacement they sent me back has been running rattle free so far. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with it. Can't really beat that price and performance. :)

What I've heard is that they might rattle at lower speeds but typically stop when you turn the fans up. Good to know about how well it cools the 7950X though. I bought my LF II 360 to put on my Ryzen 7 7700X but plan to upgrade to a 16 core most likely after Zen 5 comes out.

What I did for cable management was similar. But I also turned the fans so the cables ran between the fans in the dead space. Another case use for these is with a cheap AIO. Like a Frostflow 240 you can pick up for like $55. Swap in 2 of these is still significantly cheaper than other mainstream AIOs.
@KitGuruJames
@KitGuruJames 7 месяцев назад
Yes If you wrap the cables around the fan frames it does a very good job hiding the majority of the wire.
@vigilant_1934
@vigilant_1934 3 месяца назад
I just wouldn't trust the really cheap AIOs to do well long term or do a better job than a high quality air cooler like a Thermalright Phantom Spirit or Scythe Fuma 3, both of which are around the same price or cheaper than that AIO. At only 240mm there are quite a few air coolers that can cool just as well or better. It's only when you go to 280mm and bigger do you get where the liquid coolers have an advantage as far as time to steady state (how long it takes for the cooler to get hot) and overall cooling. I think it was Steve at Gamers Nexus who said they don't even test below 280m anymore because it's too small and air coolers are too good against small AIOs these days.

Can the CPU fan header actually handle all of this properly? if it's 0.29A*3 and I guess the pump also pulls similar numbers my mobo can only supply 1A, so I'm wondering if I can just buy a sata powered hub and connect that to cpu_fan header. and everything LF2 related to the hub.

Isn't the new Arctic Liquid Freezer III coming out soonish, anyway? Supposedly, it has a new pump with a larger fan and angled connectors on the side... 🤔 Btw, if you want to have similar cooling performance to the P12 Max but with a lower noise profile, slap some Silent Wings Pro 4 on the AIO. Not cheap, but fun with hand tuned fan curves. 😎

Just what is your temp measuring, and if it's the hottest p-core , I want to know what magic pixy dust your sprinkled on your processor or if its some average of all cores then I request you RU-vid channels be more honest about your temp data. @marinipersonal

If your max rpm is 1k, and you need 1k 24/7, clearly you have the wrong fans. Any fan over 1K-1.2K is audible. Some well below that (Corsair ML, or EK Vadar). T30 is the quiets I’ve used, same noise level as Noctua but better performance. Extra thickness help. If, at idle you need your fans at 70, 80%, under load you won’t have much headroom. Ideally you should be able to have your fans at 50% or less idling, then increase under load. My NV7, o have no gains going over 60%. Run the D30s at 40%, and 50% under load. All I can hear is the 4080 fans and some coil whine in one game or another.

*whirs* These fans are junk, unfortunately. I have used P120 arctics, which were "ok" but had frame issues which could cause the fan to collide, looked at these Max versions and seems arctic learned nothing, still the same nasty bearing that click and whine at 400/800 rpm, and then resonate a strange noise at around 1200rpm.

I wouldn't say junk. Yes, I've noticed the whirl at low RPMs too, but they are fine if you are not easily bothered by noise. I guess it's the bearing they use. For the performance at this price range you can't expect perfection. There will be drawbacks and trade-offs when reducing cost so much.
