Fruit loops or whatever seems to be about 1/3 of added sugar, not whole but quit alot. Maybe look at the label you dont need to ask someone who does not know anything about the product. Those food colors can be wierd though. But you can find toxic colors in clothes, hair dyes, which prob.should be banned and studied more. Maybe do episode with color chemist expert or something.

I had been stuck at a certain weight for a LONG time and nothing I did seemed to touch it. Until I cut out processed foods, and the main thing I avoid like the plague is sugar.

Definitely avoid HFCS and artificial sweeteners too, they are worse than sugar because your body doesn't really know what to do with them. The biggest thing to avoid is seed oils though, cutting them will make the biggest difference to how you feel. Beyond that go high fat and protein and low carb for best results.

It is depressing when you know what a fruit or veggie should taste like, and then you go grab some non organic stuff and it has like no flavor. It tastes like a fake version of what it should be in nature. We are pretty dumb to screw that up by taking it away through growing methods that will cause that. I wouldn't think it's a good idea to sell fruit that looks normal but tastes like butt, but here we are.

Problem: You have to itemize just what processes you're talking about, EACH AND EVERY ONE. Cooking? That's a process. Adding spices? That's a process, with each and every additive a single 'process'. Rinsing? That's a process. Refrigerating? That's a process. Anything you do to a food, is processing it. ANYTHING.

Kelloggs and their glycemic index is where you see the harms they contain.. High sugar equivalent is the trigger for the insulin release in the body, it goes straight to the liver for making to glucose. Bacon and eggs do not trigger the insulin response and therefore satiates for many hours and supplies an energy release over that period when you are using it up.

The fruitloops as "starting your day off with candy" thing is something that seems extremely common place in America. Donuts, waffles, pancakes, etc. are all desserts that people eat in the morning instead of normal breakfast foods. I am at least a little sympathetic towards cereal because there are healthier cereal options and the addition of milk will at least boost the meal's relative health profile compared to these aforementioned options.

Ate some processed foods yesterday out of convenience when for the previous while it had been mostly just meat and eggs from the farm with rice and beans Spartan style one cup of rice cooked with the other ingredients once a day in the same pot... But after yesterday's processed foods my body feels hungover today when I haven't had a drink for over a year. Here is a tip for poor folks like myself though, if you're going to eat bread, don't buy the stuff on the shelves in Walmart, but the 'French loafs' the fresh bread they make daily because they don't put the same level of 'shelf stabilizing chemicals' as the average loaf prepared to sit in plastic on an American shelf for weeks. I'll buy those, stick them in the freezer and if I'm having bread coat cut it open and put olive oil, salt, and pepper on it in the air fryer until toasty... and those loafs are the cheapest too!

Is Kellogs really the bad guy here? Or do they just follow sales/demand trends? They have “Kelloggs Corn Flakes Original” which has minimal sugar added, 2.7g per serving of 28g. It’s literally mashed dehydrated corn, most ppl skip that and buy the ones that taste just like candy, of cos the company wants to drive profit so 98% of their products align the taste boards of the average American. If we don’t reorient ourselves and adjust the culture, we should not expect the companies would not do that for us.

Of course I *want* to eat that sweet junk food, it's delicious! That's why I ask her to refrain from purchasing it in the first place. If there are no chips, I'll eat a banana. The problem in America is too much food is ULTRA PROCESSED. Even Cherios Mr. Attia are bad.

Nuance. The difference between between being informed and being lectured. Twinkies and tomatoes pressure canned at home are both processed. As Dr Attia points out they are not of equal food value. Or profit margin for some faceless corporation.

I’m going to guess…if you are fit, exercise a decent amount, it actually could be good to eat that processed ‘crap’ as needed. If you are that diabetic inactive person that can’t even run a couple of miles, then it’s poison. Stop blaming the food people, just do things with moderation…Don’t need to run 100 miles a week, but you don’t just walk a mile a week to be healthy. Be fit, strong and eat reasonably.

Peter is not a health food analyst as with the other health gurus . His lane is physical activity and I think he is of the notion you can outrun diet

I had Canary Waffles on the podcast recently talking about non specific sciencey stuff ,it got me thinking so I came up with a thing I called the aardvark discriptor paradox which doesn't mean anything in relation to what we're talking about but might just bamboozle some gym rats for ten minutes
