I'd like to see a battle report where you try out a flyer heavy list please🙏 I feel like they have a hard skill ceiling that makes the difference between useless and worth more than their points cost.

In this dataslate, if leountus arrives in turn2 ( same a Thunderbolt) will send order to the Thunderbolt.

Mordian, I know you probably already working on the new Balance data video at the moment. Can you mention the viabilty the Scion 2 order 15 man death-bomb combo, as now they can order themselves after deep strike? :D

Maybe with the Manticore going up to 180 the Thunderbolt is an alternative with sudo indirect fire via better angles coming onto the field...and do not forget rapid ingress

Reporting for Duty , Sir o7 1) "Rule of Cool" they are awesome 2) 3rd round to finally shoot ( the death / shelf "bell of doom" , Expensive ☢ForgeWorld☣ dust collectors ) ...They are junk for the points ... Unless you can absorb the Alpha strike turn 1 & 2 , but even then you will feel "butt hurt" over 💰 spent for performance gotten if winning is your thing .... 3) Verses slow moving Armies they feel like "seal beating" if used ( squats 2.0 , Death guard , gene steal cults , IG infantry ) 4) With a Regiment like Elysian's ? they seem great , but once the players at RTS's see 'Elysian' on list expect Hydras or Xeno's equivalents

I mean, I'm not entirely sure about the argument you made about it not being able to do anything until around turn 3 or so, mostly because if your looking at a squad of terminators or tempestus scions for instance, they typically don't really get to deep strike until turn 3 anyways, and thier fairly effective units. granted, a lot of thier ability to do that comes down to getting rid of infantry/light armour and objective snatching, but the thunderbolt can basically be pointed at anything weaker than a rogal dorn and at the very least put a really big hole in it you can even do work on super heavies if you have two or three of these, if not kill them outright if you say, give it a take aim order from the lord solar and get some good damage rolls (personally I do think it should get the regiment keyword honestly) the points imo should come down though, though since I'd say in terms of raw firepower this thing beats out the russes (short of a demolisher) maybe it should be somewhere between 180-190? the aircraft rules when it comes to movement do handicap it a bit, hence my argument for putting it into russ territory points wise

Aren't these models tiny like smaller than a guards man I brought one end of 9th to try out and turned up in a box same size as infantry and there was 3 models on 3 spus so my question is can you actually use it lol as they are tiny or do we just say they look small because there so high in the sky 😂

There's 2 different scales for 40k. Regular 40k (28mm scale) and "Epic 40k" (9mm scale IIRC), Epic has smaller models which act as blobs so it can have larger scale models. You almost certainly bought an Epic model. The actual thunderbolt model is almost a foot long.

@@htidDeano Ah, that is another possibility that i forgot. GW also has another 3 minatures games all called Aeronautica Imperialis. One is 6mm scale, one is 8mm scale, and the most recent one is IIRC 12mm scale. Theyre focused on air to air. Did you get the model second hand? The changes to legal model sizes in each version of this game made people sell oudated models.

Was a bit of a shock thoe 😂 I just built and painted them and gave them to my little boy he was made up with has them hanging the the ceiling in his room

Flyers seriously need an overhaul. Sadly there was no changes to the field munitorum to them once again. Regardless of army. Take a look at the space wolves Stormfang Gunship. It's as tough as the Thunderbolt (even 1wound less), and packs about the same firerpower, yet costs 300points. More than a land raider. More than a rogal dorn.🤦

@@HiveFleetThanatos considering most factions also got massive point cuts... and guard didnt... makes this a shadow nerf. Even the rework of the command rule wont change that. Having the Manticore cost as much as a Leman Russ.. just makes it obsolete. Guards about to go from 43% W/R to 40% or worse.

I feel like the solution is to make flyers start in reserves turn 1, but turn 2 give them the 20" move measured from your deployment zone board edge. Thematically it makes sense that if a battle breaks out, fighters and bombers would scramble to the area from an airbase behind your lines, and more importantly it gives you more options in-game on how to use them that isn't just basically the boring reserve rules every other unit gets.

@@nklinef similar idea: when aircraft are in reserve, give them the deepstrike ability to represent them swooping down from on high. Then they can (usually) pop up wherever they need to turn 2, blast something and scoot. I'd also say maybe having them make their turn at the beginning of their movement (so bombers and bombs stop being so, so bad), and a universal strategem to return them to reserve in the enemy turn so they can dive back down into the fight, maybe call it "climb to safety" because the aircraft is basically exiting the battle field vertically.
