If you had told me five years ago I would by now have developed a passionate belief in a Massachusetts woodshop CEO's ability to fix an M&T machine in time to not have to furlough upwards of forty people, I would have maybe believed you, but I would have later wondered why you didn't warn me about Covid instead.

When buying large specialized machinery, stipulate that you won't sign off or fully pay until the machine is operating to satisfaction (I am broadly explaining it, some manufactures will say no). This will work as leverage to get the manufacturer to come back soon as possible.

If they're not helping with the machine they built to do a said job then surely that is prose for litigation for production time lost. Happens in engineering all the time

@@lokithecat7225 while I did laugh, and this may be true for other equipment. This particular machine was installed *seemingly* incorrectly by the technician. If the machine doesn't do what it was contracted to do. I.e. doesn't meet specs, it's a breach of contract law suit. "If you don't hash that out in your contracts... " So, now we have a Machine not working, and all the Wyrmlings think that the People that sold them the machine have further obligations, because "Whaaaaa". I'd bet that the only reasons the Machine Company would be back to "Make it Right" would be A) They'll charge you to have someone come and fix it. B) Publicity. Either they look good "Making it Right" or don't want to "Look bad for a busted Machine". And these will be on "Their time" which doesn't help Wyrmwood at all. yea, I was thinking about that when it came up too. Maybe they can make some arguments based on what's not working vs what was tampered with, but warranty tends to be product as a whole in my experience. You modify anything and the whole product basically falls out of it. I'm hopeful that they can come up with a solution to get things moving, but the video evidence is going to probably complicate things if it is seen by the wrong people (and I don't even have a product I waiting for on the line. I can't afford their stuff, but I do really enjoy watching these videos, learning about the process and just seeing the general family feel of the place)

It should be on the machine company....but that company isnt on a timetable like WW is. They need it up and running NOW to avoid furloughing employees and to meet deadlines. The other company can take who knows how long to get a tech out. The fact that the error isnt repeatable is also a HUGE deal...because the tech could show up, run it, see it works fine, and leave. Unless they can identify a problem with the machine and not user error the machine company is under no obligation to fix anything because they can say its not broken.

@@lordmordor4805 I understand that there are timetables and Wyrmwood should be pursuing some solution in the meantime. That doesn't change that the manufacturer has seemingly come back with 0 solutions in over a month. And from what it seemed like in the episode where the tech was there, he didn't even verify that it met spec. He just stayed long enough to make sure it turned on and cycled, then hopped on a flight and left. Then they immediately had problems with out of spec parts when they tried to run it. @kgoblin5084 3 года назад
Gonna make a guess that from Dale's perspective he probably is earning more from them right now as a short term contractor... BUT on the other hand a set long term offer will be attractive because it is stable, & he won't have to be waiting & hoping on the next gig to be there. Also benefits... contractors usually get the shorter end of the stick there. Process engineering sounds like a very 1-time investment for a firm, so fulltime employment offers may be fairly rare on the ground as well, making them more attractive. NB: I know zip about manufacturing, but I do know project work, and the realities inherent with any contract work. You always earn more as an indie simply because you are also shouldering more risk, whereas full-timers earn less but also worry less.

When you purchase a machine to solve a problem, and it doesn't, you still have the problem and the need. Deciding to sue the company that provided the machine doesn't solve any of those problems. I for one welcome our new mortise and tenon overlord, but seriously they need to get Frank in on this if the custom machine isnt to spec and WW hasnt done anything wrong w/ the install or operation. All the time they've spent on it, missed production, and loss of customer faith could be damages they might be able to get out of the vendor.

We have to get our boilers inspected annually or maybe semi annually. Giant pain in the butt. We don’t have small boilers….. yay chrome plating.

What's your recourse for a manufacturer who said the machine would do something it doesn't do? You hand the contract over to Frank and have him deal with them.

The frame saw should not vibrate like that. It is probably not properly levelled on its feet.

the thing that is not working is the machine that was custom made for them by that father/son team?

I think that was a different piece of equipment, I remember what you were talking about and it was much smaller as I recall. Also - I don't think a 2 man operation would have conducted a training session like we saw on camera when setting up the M&T
@greenmind3488
@greenmind3488 3 года назад
Sucks that the M&T is so inconsistent. FYI, If the M&T isnt to the promised spec, you can at least get your money back under a breach of contract claim. Aka, get a refund, or youd have legal basis to sue for it. Pretty shitty situation, but you guys will find a way forward

I'd 100% call that company back. Those machines aren't cheap and if you sell me a lemon machine when it's literally necessary for my business to continue, we're gonna have issues.

at the end of this they need to rename the M&T to the J&C (Jason and Cesia)

I wouldn't jump to blaming Cesia. The exact problem is unknown, so it's unfair to blame any one person for something not being right

I don't doubt Cesia and Jason aptitudes to fix things, what i doubt about is the original installation of a machine that is really long, made of metal, that can bend and warp if the floor is not properly leveled. Also i doubt about customer service now... i am loosing hope and thats why i left the tool industry nobody cares anymore about the product that they supply to end user's.... so sad
