Ariel Helwani: Dana White is embarrassed by Anderson Silva's UFC 112 performance! This interview took place after the Silva vs Maia fight in 2010, back when Ariel and Dana were on speaking terms. #arielhelwani #danawhite #arieldana
Atleast Maia proved he could have a exciting title fight with Woodley and actually changed his gameplan when he couldn't get a takedown... oh wait he didn't lols
swag lad I'm a huge fan of Meia, when he can get it to the Ground he's definitely very exciting. And silver is partially to blame since it takes two to fight. But the Woodleigh fight I believe Damien Maia broke the record for most he'll take down attempts at 27. It's hard to have an exciting fight when the person is literally shooting on you every 30 seconds, and even with that Woodley still manage to knock him down. So it's not like he wasn't trying to go for.
@@mmafyasco anderson could of finished maia at any point and chose to clown around. race has nothing to do with anything, all dana cares about is putting on good fights dummie
It was maia fault. That's the problem if you're a one dimensional fighter. A one dimensional fighter will always bring a boring fight. Yeah maia is great on what he does, great jiujitsu and submitting people but not all the times you have to rely on that because the time will come that he will face a fighter who are stylistically a bad match up for him. He got the price when he faced silva and woodley.
Shouldn't Maia be the one apologizing? Silva give him endless chances to bring the fight to him and he was just a sitting duck for anderson to play with for 25 minutes - Dana should've chosen a better, more capable opponent if he wanted a better fight.
7 years later same thing happened with Tyron Woodley but Demian Maia still coming out clean, always the other guy's fault. Unbelievable, Demian Maia is the most boring fighter in UFC history, the fool refuses to hit people.
I actually liked watching this fight. I thought it was comedy. during the time it was embarrassing to watch. but watching it now, it's actually really interesting.
Maia is at least as much if not more to blame than Silva. Just saw that fight. And Dana was so pissed off at Silva and not a word about Maia, Justice where?
Ta3iapxHs cause Silva could of ended the fight but just walked around in circles and stopped trying to attack. Maia isn't amazing at stand up and is going against Silva so he can't even get a hold of him silva should of just ended it but instead stopped fighting and was even running around the ref
@@FXGARZA Have you seen Silva's fights? People keep saying he could have ended the fight but fail to realize that's not Silva's style. He is a counter fighter. All the knock outs he has are by his opponent engaging him and then he counters. Maia I believe only through maybe 7 strikes throughout the entire fight and even then he didn't commit with those strikes.
@@93King It's not about style. In combat sports both athletes have to be actively engaging in the fight, it's part of the rules to prevent tedious (or even null) fights. If you keep running in circles around your opponent (like Silva did from round 3 onwards), you aren't actively engaging. The judge saw that in this fight but he interferred too late and Silva didn't lose any points from stalling.
I wish I was a fly on the wall for that convo lol...You can sense how pissed Dana was...Dana screaming,Silva speaking in tounges,Dana saying "WTF IS HE SAYING?" to his translator.. lmao..Damn Dana that woulda been epic footage for us UFC fans
Anyone else find it ironic how Dana says "spread the virus and infect 15 other people" and this fight was taking place on Yas Island which is now the home to the ufc because of covid? Lol
HE DID APOLOGIZE! Did you listen to Anderson after the fight while in the octagon. He said he didnt know what got into him and that he is sorry & that it will never happen again.
I'm not a Silva fan but that maia guy was shit ,just stood there didn't throw a punch didn't throw a kick ,how can you call yourself a fighter if you don't even try hit someone.
Maia is 7-1 since 2014, while Andy is 1-2-1 and popped for anabolic steroids. Maia is possibly the most accomplished BJJ player to ever fight in the UFC, sorry you aren't impressed!
Yeah. We need a MMA company whose gimmick is that all their fighters win by running away while taunting. They'd call it Run Away Taunting Championship or RAT Championship. Their logo would be a big sniveling rat. They'd put UFC out of business by showing the fights fans really want to see, where two fighters run laps around the ref while shouting names at each other and flipping each other off. This is genius, bro. You really have your finger on the pulse of the MMA world.
@@whitworth5s248 sounds like you haven't been in a wrestling hold before. There is every reason for a stranding fighter to NEVER get close to a grappler. You watch mma for 2 lumps standing in front of each other throwing punches, or for 2 fighters to have to feel each other out? Anderson had no reason to risk being taken down and beaten. What would you do?
He paid the fans back by giving Anderson to Chael Sonnen. That is still by far my favorite fight of all time. Greatest comeback of all time preceded by one of the most onesided beatdowns by a challenger in UFC history.
Im surprised at Dana's reaction. First off, the initial 3 rounds with silva was some of the most hilarious and entertaining ufc ive ever seen, Im now a silva fan. The last couple rounds of the fight was a joke... and very disappointing. But silva is an amazing fighter and far and above most of the competition. Like a cat playing with his prey, if he could keep that up for 5 rounds it would be awesome.
@kentbrockton Silva has at least two professional boxing bouts that I know of. Although it is possible that I'm mistaking, but how else can you explain his knock out punch?
As I recall Maia was talking a lot of shit and when it came inside the octagon he didn't do crap lol Anderson whopped him, Dana just needs to open his eyes a little more.
It's been a few years man, you might wanna watch the fight again (although I advise you don't because it's boring as fuck and frustrating to watch), Anderson was running circles around the ring for 5 rounds dancing like a drunk guy, beating on his chest screaming and cussing, crawling on the floor, he was simply acting a straight clown.
+Rashad Almomani DO you not think Maia was just completely outclassed? Is it Silva's fault Damian was just a sitting duck for him to play with for 25 minutes.
Jaikay1 Even when sparring with someone, if you can play with them like that, you don't, theirs no point other than to disrespect and look like a fool. Anderson could have ended the fight multiple times but chose to run around and even away from Maia, it wasn't just a matter of Maia being outclassed, it was a matter of Anderson making them BOTH look like fools... He really should have just ended the fight in the 3rd or 4th, instead he was getting warnings from the ref to "engage and stop running or I'm gonna take a point". Maia was a sitting duck but Anderson was a dancin' fool.
UFC is going to end up like wrestling, scripted, shows that kids watch, probably what Dana wants, blank cheque time with toys figures sold in billions. it's entertainment. boxing is stale, but will always be taken seriously. your choice mr white. sam uk
Funny still going strong so much for your predictions UFC is the biggest brand in the world and Silva is a legend as for Demian he stunk up the joint against woodley as well hes a boring half ass fighter who is not and will never be main event level ready hes a pussy who cannot and will not throw hands he just wants to smell balls n ass all fucking day
im with silva on this one!! i think there is clear difference between holding a belt and fighting for one. on the road up i think a fighter brings the fight, not only to win but in order for division to take note of him/her, the promoter to take note and fans! once you have the belt and have held on to it as long as silva has, I think its the job of the challenger to do his home work and take the belt.
nice job ariel with the interview ! almost a million views.. if u could maybe u could just respond to this comment with your opinion of the fight with anderson silva
@rednek316 You are correct(Lombard). That is why I'd like to see him take on Silva. Both are good fighters with no one in their organization that can hang with them(in their weight class of course) I would love to see Silva move up in weight class and take on Rua, Rampage, and all the other good LHW's. There is no one in his weight class worth mentioning. Most important though, is that he fights and doesn't dance to a decision like he has done 3 times in the past.
@Aeroceptyl , He is NOT the same fighter in the 3rd 4th and 5th as he is in the first 2 rnds. I believe his Cardio is in question and he is afraid to engage and expose himself in later rnds
What the heck is Dana talking about. Fighters go in to win regardless of the tactics they use in a particular fight. A great fighter adapts. Who cares if it is not a full out brawl to excite the fans. It is all about winning. Why should he be embarrassed. I would tell Dana where to go.
@zoolander213 I understand you have no idea about anderson but really man. Can you do me one fav and type in anderson silva highlights and than say if he is a boring fighter or not.
@Mario1057 Lombard's been fightin' cans too. His 2 losses are to the only notable names he fought, Mousasi and Gono. I'd actually love to see Silva and Rua go at it =) Rua has a thing for stopping evasive fighters.
