Hello. I came across your channel yesterday when RU-vid “suggested” it to me. I watch RU-vid gardening channels instead of television and love to see other people’s gardens and to learn from them. Many of the ones I watch are in the Northwest or Northeast and while their maples and hydrangeas are gorgeous, it just doesn’t apply to my 9b South Texas zone. As I watched your video yesterday, not knowing at first where you lived, I kept saying “ I have that plant in my yard. I grow that in my vegetable garden.” I loved your video that I watched and am absolutely thrilled that we have similar climates! I can tell I’m going to learn a lot from you and your garden growing experiences. I subscribed to your channel and am going back today to watch previous videos. Thank you for the time and energy you put into the videos, even for those of us that live a few states away!

Unfortunately here in our high desert yard, it will be our first frost early tomorrow morning. I have covered the various pepper plants I hope to over-winter but left the garlic sprouts and onion sprouts out without cover. So excited to get things planted this month. I love sugar snap peas and have planted so many but they aren't growing as well as I'd like. Small leaves and yellowish leaves. Any tips to get them going? Also, in your last video about the trellises, I thought I saw one of those bee houses for Mason bees or leaf cutter bees mounted on a wall. If so where did you get them?
@GrowingInTheGarden
@GrowingInTheGarden 3 года назад
It's been pretty hot for peas, they really prefer cooler weather. If your plants don't recover, plant again as temperatures fall. The mason bee house I have I got from Costco several years ago. Thanks for watching, best of luck with your garden!

Hello, I love your channel. I'll soon have an apartment patio to grow some few plants. Do you have suggestions for ongoing plants in this situation? I would love to have continuous celery in a bag. I was thinking of lavender and carnation or dianthus and possibly some reed bamboo. I truly have no idea what will work in a container situation, Thanks.
@GrowingInTheGarden
@GrowingInTheGarden 3 года назад
Containers are a great option. Most things grow well in containers. Be careful growing celery in a grow bag, it's one of those vegetables that loves moisture and grow bags tend to dry out. I would plant celery in a self-watering container. Lavender doesn't like it too wet and does well in a terra cotta pot. Dianthus would grow well in any type of container. Not sure about bamboo, I haven't grown it before. My book (amzn.to/3myX2kS comes out in May) will be all about container gardening. Here are a few principles. Most of the items listed to plant can be successfully grown in containers. Choose the largest container you can and fill it all the way up with good potting soil. Don't over-plant and make sure plants get enough airflow, sunlight and water.

What height do you cut back your lemongrass to? I make small wreath like bundles with mine just like you. I have tried different ways to store it but this is the best way for making tea. I started with 1 small plant and had to devide it and now have 7 plants that are huge and may need to be devided again. It's starting to take over my garden 🤪 How often do you devide yours? I have 10 Roselle plants all at different stages, will definitely plant the same amount next year 😋. The Roselle and Lemongrass were the only plants that did well this summer for me.

@GrowingInTheGarden
@GrowingInTheGarden 3 года назад
The best time to plant citrus trees in Arizona is in the spring after the danger of frost has passed (usually mid to late February). Citrus can be planted from this time through May. Do not plant citrus from June through September. A second planting window for citrus is in the fall from October through December. Newly-planted citrus is more susceptible to frost and needs frost protection. growinginthegarden.com/how-to-grow-citrus-in-arizona/
