Formation Flight around Zurich.
Inflight join, then flying around the Zurich airspace and breaking the formation thereafter for separate landings on the different home bases. Beautiful scenery over the Swiss Alps with several RV`s was making our day!

So now my plans have changed. I not only need to have an RV, but need to find a group of RV's to practice formation flying with. Beautiful scenery.

Hello, I was wondering what the highest altitude you've had your RV-8 to and also, assuming no winds and flying solo, what altitude gives you the best cruise numbers. I am surprised there seem to be no videos on RU-vid of people trying to reach their maximum altitude. I just started building mine. I am hoping to put 180hp in it and was just curious. Thank you for the videos!!!

Max altitude was 16000 ft with density altitude around 17500 ft. With a max cruise power setting of 75% the aircraft is fastest at around 7500 ft consuming 10 GPH. I prefer to cruise between 9000 and 12000 ft, lower fuel consumption and only slightly slower. 65% at 9500 gives me 170 KTAS and 8.5 GPH.
