Thanks so much. They are very nice RC's and I plan on getting them out. I was going to take out my Lasernut next but I will take one with me and bash it in the dirt.

Thanks for the kind words. I'll post a video of it when they come in,,,, and bash the red one as hard as I can at the dirt bowl where I normally drive. 👍

Thanks GB. These mini sized cars are super fun. I actually painted 2 bodies yesterday and they came out decent. The Typhon Grom comes in blue or red but perhaps the sun made the red one look orange. Anyways.. I don't thin I'll dump too much into these cars but after I run them on the street a bit they will both be hitting it hard in the dirt and skate parks.

Hey RC, nice parts haul! I love the neat tidy workbench. You managed to pack a lot inside that blue cowling and 35 isn't too shabby for that small of a scale

I has more power than the sock brushed system and will probably get a proper upgrade some day. I just noticed some guys are mounting the ESC in the battery tray and going with a shorter battery. Either way these little cars are low suctions on the wallet. lol

@@RCRoads It is actually funner with the small scale since it is such a major pain getting the 1/5th scale all setup, then if you crash bad...well it gets ugly fast

I see people putting high power motors in the mini's and usually it's a little to fast to actually be fun but good video 😊👍
@RCRoads
@RCRoads Месяц назад
I totally agree. It's really just something fun to try. The Grom is just a little bit under powered but I would think that a better battery might help. I'm hoping that the extra power will help the car get more air off jumps. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍👍 I plan on leaving the red one stock and just bash with it.

@@RCRoads20+mph is not bad for a mini I'll wait until they come out with adjustable turnbuckles and camber links and then I'll make mine faster 😮

@@richardbrown6762 I honestly think that there will be tons of upgrades available for this little guy. The hobby store I go to had like 10 of them and they all sold quickly. I just painted 2 bodies last night and the paint cost more than the clear bodies. Stock parts are reasonable and for the most part I'll stick with plastic parts. I mostly drive off road so eventually they will both be bashers. I just think a bit more punch for hitting jumps would be nice.

@@RCRoads well I don't jump my cars it's to expensive for parts IF you can find them that's my problem now my hobby shop don't seem to have any 😯😐

What motor and ESC do you have? What heatsink and fan did you do? I'm looking to upgrade the motor, ESC, heatsink and fans for my Mojave Grom when it comes.
@RCRoads
@RCRoads 14 дней назад
I used a cheap system to propel my grom. [ GoolRC Waterproof 2845 Brushless Motor 2800KV & 35A Brushless ESC ] The stock motor has an odd size shaft if I can remember correctly. So you will probably need a pinion gear and proper motor mount. Arrma sells individual motor mounts for each gear size. I think the complete set is like $9. I opted to go with an adjustable motor mount from GPM. I guess it also acts as a heat sink. The can size is the same on the Gool motor so the heat sink works. Fan will fit if you relocate the ESC to the battery tray but then your stuck with short batteries. Everything is a super tight fit.

This little groms are good. Do yours have the upgraded diffs? I popped an mjx system into mine, made is faster than the full size typhon but destroyed the rear diff quick
@RCRoads
@RCRoads Месяц назад
I have not upgraded the diffs yet. The motor and ESC I have in it now isn't that powerful. I think I'm going to compare the 2 out in the dirt, I just received a set of aluminum shocks from Arrma today. I must say they feel plush. I might be leaning towards the smaller cars for ease of transport but man the Lasernut is a real blast and needs some play time too. I like to upgrade and mess with the cars. I ordered 2 clear bodies for the Typhon Groms and they were super reasonable. I guess diffs will be next. Not too many donuts and I think they should last with my driving.

@@RCRoads I'm a big fan of small RC cars. When it comes to RC, the only size that matters to me is the size of the fun! Big cars are a blast, but can be a bit of a hassle to lug around and maintain batteries for, especially if you're running 2 batteries to make 4s, 6s or 8s. Not that you have to do it that way, but I guess I'd rather have more batteries than less. But charming up 4 3s batteries to run 6s in two RC trucks can be a pain. Small cars have the speed, the quickness, and are actually sometimes MORE durable, relatively speaking. I love little RC cars as much as a massive one.

Seems pretty quick to me. I have purchased some of those off brand esc motor combos myself and have had them cog pretty bad. Don't know your gear ratio installed but over gearing will cause cogging too or bottle necking amperage through small connectors or insufficient Guage wires. May need higher CC rating. Yet without high temps and running only 2s I'd lean towards more amps like a 3s just to see if it helps. Also you may be able to pick up a program card for your esc. That could make all the difference. Looks like a blast though. I'm dealing with the same issue but on the other end of the size spectrum. Put a 12s system in my xrt and have cogging. Waiting on the new motor to see if that fixes it. But when it does take off its ridiculous. Blew my belted front tires right off the rims! Lol😂

@@nicholashunt1983 Thanks so much for watching the video and special thanks for helping me out. The Groms are new to me and I really didn't plan the install that well. I had 3 spare motor / ESC combos that I had and one actually fit so I gave it a go. I had actually bought this motor for my MT12 but the saft length was too short. I feel like an expert at purchasing the wrong parts for my cars. I'm always trying to save money and it ends up costing double. Anyways I have fun with it. I will have to check out your 12s beast to see how it does. The XRT is an incredible RC for sure.

Would my traxxas 1/16 brushless motor and esc work in this?
@RCRoads
@RCRoads 7 дней назад
Thanks for commenting. I really have no idea. It's such a tight fit. If you already have the motor and ESC on hand you should be able to scale it out. I did see one guy that put the ESC in the battery tray all the way to the front. Then he went with short 2s & 3s lipo's. Getting the right pinion is the hard part. It has to be the same pitch as the stock spur and the bore has to match the motor oh yes and the tooth count has to match the motor mount.
