I’m only 20 minutes into this video and it’s stressing me out so bad that it’s giving me a stomachache, yet I can’t turn it off. The judge and lawyer are both so rude. I can’t imagine being a witness and having to only say yes or no when the answer isn’t a simple yes or no. I’d be so afraid to say the wrong thing - like how they yelled at him claiming he lied about how well he knew the girl. I feel so bad for this guy. I watch these types of videos every day and I’ve never seen a witness treated this way. Telling him he’s making it more difficult than it has to be. It’s not like this guy asked to be there. Most people have never had to be a witness in a trial before. It’s probably extremely nerve wracking and this guy is doing the best he can.
Agree agree agree! This is ridiculous and something should be done because witnesses have zero recourse, yet court officials can smear them make false claims and speak to them in a brutally hostile manner and if they don’t take it all- they’re in contempt. Nope nope nope!! Grrr!!
Every single time, it should have been a simple yes, no, or I don't know. There was no gray area in any of those questions. Kyle kept attempting to give extra context to WHY he said yes or know. No one has time for his life story on "Did you ask anyone to cut limbs?". When he asks: "what time did she get there?".......the answer is either 1) the time, 2) or "I DON"T KNOW". They may ask him later WHY/HOW you do/don't know the time.
Agree however, it’s the game. A witness is confusing the matter by adding his version that is not being asked for.. it’s the nature of us wanting to do so and I would do the same, wanting to add context so the jury, people understand what I mean. Saying just yes or ni sounds nonchalant to the commoners, who have never been in trials. You ares there to help, to give your story but that’s not really how it works. It’s not story time. Having said all this, the jury looks for credibility of witnesses and when people are trying (like this witness) it describe the event further, they see him more credible than someone who would just sit their cold stained saying yes or no. I think legal teams and judges have become deaf to that, they forget what it’s like for a normal human being. Some of which have maybe tried to have been set up by the dependent, which is looks like in this case so far, that he lived on the property and she decides to hide a body there. So bizarre..
I don’t like how this judge is treating Mr Britt...You can tell that he is very intelligent and is trying to answer questions to the best of his ability...If I was on the jury, I would find it hard to concentrate on the testimony after she berates a witness...
Man, oh man, do I not want to defend the judge; however, I actually do agree that Kyle was rambling about things not asked. It was a tad annoying to watch.
@@MPTLPC420 Reread my comment. Of course all answers aren't cut and dried. Some require elaboration; however, there is a difference between briefly elaborating and -- as I wrote in the comment you responded to -- "rambling about things NOT asked".
At the beginning of this trial, like most I felt the judge was cool & fun but professional! Now I feel completely differently, she’s very rude to the people giving evidence. They’re nervous & need guidance but she continually makes them uneasy with her attitude. One minute she jokes & act’s silly telling jokes normally about her Great Dane or she seems in a horrid mood, very weird & unpredictable!
This judge is a straight crackpot for so many reasons, rushing a murder trial because a “promise was made to the jury” is seriously unjust, in this country we are obligated to put on a fair and just trial and rushing or trying to figure out what evidence isn’t that important so she can throw it out is so unprofessional maybe she should keep her personal stories to a minimum and focus on the trial she is the one WASTING the time.
@@JenKelly ~ Exactly!!! This is not how any murder trial should be held. Guilty or not everyone deserves a fair trial. As I stated a while ago this isn't a playground, or Sesame Street. Her priorities are totally inappropriate.
This is crazy this judge is nuts. i have never seen a judge get in such a hurry to get through a witness. What the heck is the rush this is a murder trial.
Also never seen a judge spent so much time trying to win over the jury. Show them respect and leave them be. She spends all day making odd small talk with the box, I’ve never seen anything like it.
Right. And is soooo concerned with Ashley’s comfort. I get it. She don’t want them coming back saying she wasn’t treated fairly. Blah blah blah. But she wouldn’t be sitting in that seat had she not CHOSE to murder Taylor. That’s all on her. But let’s make sure Ashley is comfortable 🤷♀️🥴🙄
I think the judge is more concerned about her holiday weekend rather then insuring a fair trial. I never seen a judge who has pushed so hard for time restrictions. It’s unfair to ask either side to rush testimony. If this was all such a problem why not schedule the trial after the holiday weekend. She’s adamant this all be finished by Friday...a freaking murder trial? What the hell!
I totally agree. Although it seems obvious that Ashley is guilty, she does deserve a fair trial. This feels extremely rushed. I can feel the witnesses becoming nervous. Ashley's cousin was so nervous he actually said "yes sir" to the judge.
It’s like walking on egg shells with this judge. She is so concerned about being a popular judge with the jury instead of being a competent judge for this trial!
Imagine being on trial for murder and having a judge who is only concerned with having a nice Labor Day weekend, or finishing the trial before it starts raining. Here’s how it works in every other trial: you can continue AFTER the holiday and/or AFTER it stops raining. This is madness.
She has jurors to think about. When jurors get unfocussed you get decisions like the Caylee Anthony trial or some would think, the OJ trial. They are much more important than one witness who wants to grandstand,
@@croach2194 The Casey Anthony and OJ Simpson verdicts had _nothing_ to do with "unfocused" jurors. Yes, the O.J. jury spent a long time in sequestration, but members of the jury, including the forewoman, have already admitted to the reason for the verdict: retribution for Rodney King, and the opinion that Nicole Brown Simpson "took" one of "the good ones" and thus wasn't deserving of sympathy. The Casey Anthony verdict was a combination of an unusually unintelligent jury, an overconfident prosecution team who overestimated the jury, and a fundamentally corrupt defense attorney improperly and unethically manipulating the jury. Certainly, neither case was affected one way or another by taking a weekend break. (The Robert Durst jury recessed for a _year and a week_ and were still able to judge the case and render a verdict that basically no one disagrees with.) Regardless, despite the fact that the judge has jurors to think about, the defendant's rights are _paramount_ in any criminal trial, and concerns for jurors -- particularly concerns like "we promised them they'd be done before Labor Day weekend" -- are inherently subordinate to the rights of the defendant during the pendency of the trial. (Also, "grandstand" is a weird way to put it.)
Jeannie She instructs witnesses to answer yes or no, and not to elaborate. But listen carefully and she very selectively allows witnesses to elaborate without interruption.
Hello Jeannie, in a very subtle way the judge seems to be very controlling. The hurrying things along is getting too much. She doesn't seem too bothered that someone in her court is standing trial for murder.
It really is. She is making them very uncomfortable. Or so I would think. My opinion only. A lot of them don’t want to even be there. But yet..they have no choice in the matter. Then the judge condescending ways. 🤦♀️ I mean some answer require more than a yes or no
RUN FREE I agree. This is not a fair trial. I would be intimidated if I were a witness. Maybe she is biased for the defense and doesn’t want facts to be testified to that she cannot legally preclude. Her jokes and other behaviors are awful too
@Steve G the judge is concerned with the potential approaching hurricane. If that area were to be hit hard, think of the delay that might cause. I do agree that a murder trial shouldn't be rushed along, but by the same token, there witnesses don't need to "write a full length novel" when testifying either.
_10one7 They have to. My guess is that the judge has another trial scheduled to begin. You don’t think this is the only procedure on her docket do you?
Christine Gufka She’s making sure that the jury members are taken care of. This isn’t the only trial that she has on her calendar. When I was practicing, I had upcoming trials in several courts. I couldn’t just call the court and tell them we ran over so I could not appear when I had already agreed to. Judges need to keep everything moving along. Imagine how you’d feel if you were rotting in a jail cell waiting for your trial date. The courts are clogged with upcoming cases, and every defendant has the right to a speedy trial. Take the time to attend a few trials, that’s the only way you will understand how this works. It’s amazing that they keep everything on schedule the way they do.
@@ailleananaithnid2566 The judge doesn't seem to be too concerned about that. She keeps bringing up her "promise to the jury", the Labour Day weekend coming up and the supposed hurricane that may come may not come.
There's a comment I make to anyone who's not happy to be doing their job with at least a civil expression, "So sorry that you have to work for a living!"
Exactly! Doesn't want to be there? Everything was rushed. I can't put my finger on it, but something is definitely off with this trial. The Judge is more like the attorneys in this case. Aren't the attorneys supposed to be the ones objecting to everything? The weather and holiday should have not been used to rush a trial. Especially a murder trial!
She doing that to make sure the jury don't have alot to think about she basically guaranteeing a guilty Verdict she not giving nobody time to get into details about anything
Agreed, she's awful. And she doesn't realize that it's HER constant interruptions that are breaking up the flow and causing everything to take way longer.

I’m not enjoying this yes and no style of questioning, it’s human nature to want to validate or explain your answer but they’re cutting people off so much that it’s just disjointed .
@@olgapagan4773 yes, I watch a lot of trials and for the most part think it's a good idea, in this case though I think it just seemed a little too rigorous
Yes and extra talk from a witness gives the lawyers a chance to object or not object to certain responses and then the judge will rule to allow or sustain an answer
Never ask a question you don't already know the answer to. So say police & trial lawyers. It's not a good idea for a trial lawyer to be taken by surprise by anything that comes out of a witness's mouth. The only way to ensure this is to limit responses to just yes or no, to prevent a witness from saying anything that deviates from the (prosecution's or defence's) prepared narrative (regardless of whether true or not).
I AGREE WITH YOU! PEOPLE SHOULD CALL AND COMPLAIN ABOUT HER! THIS IS A MURDER TRIAL NOT A TRAFFIC TICKET! YOU CAN'T PREDICT HOW LONG IT'S GONNA TAKE! WOW, SHE JUST WANTS TO GO BE A POSSUM, UNREAL! GOD BLESD
It is a hardship for many people to be jurors. Judges want jurors to be rested and ready to deliberate. If defense and prosecution give an estimate of how long the trial will take it shouldn't go much past that. It is their job to make that estimate for the judge and jury. It's frankly in the defendant's best interests to have a jury that isn't stressed and rushed and who haven't sat there days longer than projected. They will do a better job of deliberating. I wouldn't want an exhausted jury or stressed because of days and days off of work without getting paid.
@@christinecamley most the comments on here agree that she wants this out the way ... I am not disagreeing that it's a very stressful situation but Taylor Wright was murdered and deserves as much time as it takes not being told to limit answers and feel under pressure to stay mute .

A mistrial? For what? Wasting tax payers money when they have EVERYTHING (evidence wise) but a video of her doing it!!! Ridiculous. Shed just be found guilty AGAIN.
How can a judge try so hard to rush testimony in a freakin MURDER trial!? She’s setting this whole thing up for a mistrial, as well as a number of appeals. Get rid of her!

You saw her chewing for about 20 seconds. Unless you were there you have no idea if she kept the gum in all day, AND if she did who cares, that has nothing to do with the judge or the case. I repeat what other people have said... why is this judge in such a hurry? you don't promise the jury when the trial will finish... the OJ Simpson case lasted NINE MONTHS. She talks herself way too much.
I understand trying to get through the case, but if the judge would shut up with all of that extra conversation to the jury, i.e. stories that don't have anything to do with anything, they can get through it!
She knew she was caught and was scared to look at anyone, faking like she’s reading stuff knowing the whole time she was gonna fry for this murder, she is a monster
Too bad the jury can't hear about the fire she started @ her family's business the day before a meeting was scheduled with clients about missing jukebox revenue. Obviously she's a thief & a liar who'll do anything to cover her tracks.
LoneWoof The jury can only hear about the info relevant to the charges before the court. We don’t want her convicted of murder bc she’s “a liar & a thief” bc that DOESN’T make her a murderer. This defendant was just sentenced to seven years on fraud & racketeering. The jury won’t know about that bc it’s the state’s burden to prove beyond a reasonable doubt each & every element charged in THIS indictment. We don’t convict people of murder by showing they are a “bad person”.
Aillean Anaithnid Totally agree & Completely understand why McArthur's previous crimes can't be introduced into evidence durning her current trial. Excellent explanation for those who might not understand!
Aillean Anaithnid Just wish folk would just read the background in the drop down menu or better still, just Google it. My pet hate is when people actually write here...”What’s this trial all about”? I tend to give them short shrift!

Yup, time was passing your honor, some wasted on your folksy attempts at humour which got tiresome.... Pretty patronizing at points as well. Please.
@Amyra Batya This is a murder trial. A person had their life taken from them. Another person is facing life in prison. That is the most literal example of “peoples lives being on the line”. The pursuit of justice is not something to take lightly and rush through. Rushing a murder trial could possibly end up causing a guilty person to walk free or an innocent person to go to prison. They should have either planned to wait for the storm to pass and/or moved the entire trial to after Labor Day. If for no other reason than to avoid the chance of the verdict being thrown out and a mistrial resulting from the rushed process.
Am I the only one that can barely understand a single word of what’s being said in any of the recordings? That is so frustrating...you’d think the prosecution would provide subtitles so that certain key factors aren’t getting lost in translation.
I was thinking the same thing! She pretends to be in her own personal investigation taking notes and and such. She knew she was being watched so she was putting on a show! Psychopath!
The writing is being done by more defendants in other cases to. Its a way to concentrate on a paper and pen. Its a way of handling with the stress of sitting there as an defendant in a case where the rest of your life could be decided. It is also helpful in not expressing to much during testimony`s to jury and media. Its not something hey just start doing. Its something that could be advised to do by lawyers for reasons i gave above.
Why is this judge talking to the jurors like they are kindergartners? Most adults understand how to watch a video, and doing so is not some kind of physically devastating experience.
If cops came into my home and started questioning me about someone's disappearance, I would be appalled and freaking out and questioning why they are questioning. I would FREAK OUT, not be all calm and chatty.
Right? Also who talks down about a person who is missing to detectives. They did a great job not letting her know she was their suspect until they HAD HER SCREWED WITH EVIDENCE
I used to strip… girls I worked with would go missing and show up dead… even strippers and addicts showed concern, cared, raised awareness and never spoke badly about them… Ashley is scum… me at me worst wouldn’t talk badly about someone missing… let alone murder someone who asked me for help.

It's annoying, I know... but it usually doesn't matter because the prosecuter then re-asks the questions anyway so he can finish his answer. And to be fair, Kyle clearly feels she's guilty, is unhappy with her personally for other reasons as well, and his answers were reflecting that (and seemingly on purpose). The younger lawyer called him out on it once too. Anyway, all of the previous reasons are exactly the reasons why they're only supposed to answer the question directly.

I know this trial is over; however, there is really something unprofessional when a judge will continually stop a witness to discuss their testimony. Understandably she has the right to control the court; however, the attorneys in this case should have been able to control their questioning and answering with either repeating the questioning or objecting to the judge. Not the judge objecting. Mr. Britt, I am sure was versed in trial actions, and he had a valid testimony to tell. Again, I realize the trial and verdict have been accomplished, but it makes you wonder if someone else (the judge) has the ability to keep a witness from telling the entire story or truth - is this what CAN put innocent people in jail or let the guilty walk. I didn’t realize there were time restraints on a jury trial or a witnesses testimony!

The recording proves that she knows more about Taylor’s life than her own. I hate when ppl speak on other’s endeavors and thoughts. You don’t really know what other people have going on even if you’ve known them your whole life.
Richard Cline, M.D. agree. Why is she continually cutting off witnesses testifying? Isn’t that the job of the attorney to object? Also rushing a murder trial. It is important to respect the jurors time, but not in this way.
I believe she could end up with a hung jury because the judge keeps interrupting the witnesses testimony, and badgering them to “yes or no answers “. and factual info is being left out Or else the defendant could end up with new trial on appeal due to the same This is a murder trial and this judge only cares to rush through it. I would be very upset if I were this victim’s family, the prosecution, the community, and the defense if she does this to their witnesses as well In the testimony of Kyle Britt, on cross exam, the defense lawyer asked him a question regarding if the defendant was acting usual on the day of the alleged murder Kyle tried to say that he didn’t know her well enough to know. He tried to say he left for school soon after she arrived. The judge kept interrupting him as he tried to explain. The defense attorney hit him hard for a “yes” answer he had given to a question of the prosecution ( given said “yes” answer because judge badgered him at the time ). It made Kyle come off as not credible However, if you paid close attention you could see it was the judge blocking his answers So frustration
The first interrogation tapes were the worst - I couldnt make out what any one was saying - it isn't the sound level it's the reverb... The others got a tad bit better but its good the jury gets the transcripts and hopefully they read them because there will be alot of important stuff I imagine that is being missed.

Aillean Anaithnid she’s rushing the trial! this is the first murder trial I’ve ever watched where a judge is so concerned about getting it done by Friday! She doesn’t have to be so rude to the witness’ their giving a testimony. We’re human. We never had training in how they want us to do things. Every other trial I’ve seen the judge never stopped the witness so many times to ask them to stop explaining unless they were just rambling. It may be important info missed because of this. If a witness can’t elaborate on their yes or no, how can the jury know what’s really going on? Come on now.
