At 4:20 they did make Sylvanas sympathetic in a way. Everyone acts like they know loss to the extent she does, but they didn’t have their soul absorbed and twisted by Frostmourne. Then come back and have your sanity again, knowing you could never go back. In this war, her tactics..... is to reproduce the pain she felt from Arthas and show the rest of the world on how she actually lost more than they have. Cuz even Aduin acted like her equal... knowing her pain. When in reality he hasn’t even scratched the surface of her loss.

Sylvanas' motives should have been so clear and easy. "I can never protect you from dying while you are living. Eternal life in death." No Jailer, no Shadowlands, could have just made her a tragic character that showed the insidious nature of undeath in a different form than Arthas.

Initially she wanted to invade and conquer Teldrassil, but upon realizing that if she didn't burn it, the Alliance would try to retake it, because there was still hope, she had to change her plan... She thought they would march against the Undercity first and move on to besiege Silvermoon. But she remembered how foolish she was, to think she could save her home against the Scourge, realizing the moment her soul was ripped out of her body by Frostmourne, that she couldn't save anything... She wanted to destroy that hope, that led Sylvanas down her path, so Kalimdor would fall to the Horde alone without any more bloodshed cauz' mages and stuff and so would Silithus. She could take the Undercity and Silvermoon back later... first priority falls to the Azerite... for the sake of the Horde...
I agree it was a bad but nescessary decision to make due to teldrassil being to difficult to conquer itself so she had to change the plan to fully eliminating the alliance prescense on Kalimdor itself by burning the tree

It was Metzen that wrote Sylvanas kidnapping humans to experiment on them and make them her slaves since Vanilla, torturing citizens like Koltira into compliance, and unnecessarily using the Blight to obliterate the men, women, and children of the neutral nation of Gilneas, lmao.
My take on Sylvanas is that she used to fight for her people, to protect them from their enemies, but when she was killed by The Lich King and she saw how she couldn't protect anyone she ended up falling into a depraved and hopeless state and thus becoming an embodiment of that. Now all she lives for is to bring that same pain and lose of hope that she once felt to the people she once used to protect, as a sort of twisted revenge for how they indirectly made her feel that intense pain. Which is a bit of a stretch but I can see how it manifested that way due to the vulnerable state she was in that allowed such a drastic change of morals to take effect.
Man, I miss Garrosh. If this cinematic showed Garrosh instead of her it would be so much better just cause it would make much more sense with him. So sad they didn't do much with Voljin either. Imagine if Voljin was the good guy with the Horde and the Alliance were the bad ones for once. Oh well, at least Sylvanas loses her precious Undercity and all of Lordaeron to Anduin.

Sylvanass is a villain and a crazy psycho bitch to put it in short she was never ment to be warchief in the first place with the warped mind she has Saurfang was suppose to be the leader the true horde one.I guess Blizzard likes Villains she will die like the Lich King did for sure all the story so far points to this.And i want to see how the Sylvanas fans who salivate over her body will defend her XD.

I would just like to see some real personality in this fantastic people, that’s the Horde... Even with the fucking LORE breakers, it stills too much better.

I love to play with the bad guys cause they have the most fun. The tree itself served as capital but also main supply line for Azerite in Kalimdor (as the vindecar is no longer there)so i agree with the Need to burn the tree down..i also agree that Burning innocents has no excuse but i also support the burning for the tactical advantage it provided the horde

Sylvanas has always commited this type of war crimes... She fooled Garithos and the dreadlords, she never stopped the the plague from being experimented, she almost took the val'kyr's queen as a hostage, she was to poison Garrosh in prison... She killed her own followers in the dead/living meeting. She was never gray. We all know Sylvanas is mad because Arthas raised her as an undead. All because she reminded him of Jaina... And not to mantion, she planned an ambush to kill her sisters in order to raise them. I like her as a baddy though, always have...
I find this scene very Ironic, from what I remember back in War 3 where she tried to make a haven for the lost and tortured undead souls to bring comfort or some happiness, now taking the very steps of her killer and the one who twisted her to become this. She is no benevolent ruler, she aint no great tactician or leader,there are no motives or goals to justify this stupidity. There is nothing that truly helps her become anything else then pathetic, not even evil and it goes to show how shit the writing is. Its not even someone as evil as Arthas, just a wanna be, a very bootleg wanna be.
The "explanation" is that the Alliance was using that island as port to send Azerite to Stormwind and Sylvannas wanted to stop that at any cost. Still didn't think that is a good explanation and to be honest, as an Horde druid player since BC, for the first time I'm thinking of going Alliance just because I can't relate with following Sylvannas in any ways. I really wanted to get anything to hold on to the Horde, but tomorrow I'll start playing again and atm I'm thinking of going Alliance to be honest.
To be fair, the stopping of Darnassus as an Alliance port was explained, but her reasons for the actual burning seem to be 'triggered by dying night elf' if we are to believe this video.
jelle de smet The point is, that the Alliance would try to retake Darnassus, as long as there is still hope... she remembers how foolish she tried to stop the Scourge marching upon Silvermoon, because she had the same hope to save someone, just to be slaughtered and forced to realize, that she couldn't save anything... The whole point of that war is to get the Alliance off Kalimdor... to get the Azerite for the Horde alone and force the Alliance into submission under the Horde Hegemony. Sylvanas is a General and doesn't play the battle but the war.
Are you seriously that dense? Sylvanas is literally arthas 2.0. You know what he does in the short? he marches on silvermoon. An elf city. She does the same only it's a night elf city. Keep up.

sylvanas has always been bad,the problem are the other leaders of the horde you cant see saurfang standing still while sylvanas kills unarmed civilians and children, he put honor in front of everything. this is lazy and bad writing with all the money blizzard have they can't make a good story by lore point. sry for bad eng

I don't mind her i hate night elf so im ok with the burning, but by a lore point the other horde leader will never be ok whit such an action , garrosh was well written by the lore point and the others in the horde dont agree with him, instead here they are ok whit everything Sylvanas does

Sylvanas ruined playing Horde for years. Now she has just crapped over the entire gameworld. She is the worst thing to ever happen to WoW. Unless we're counting putting J Allen Brack in charge which also has a lot to do with what happened with the character of Sylvanas. Her storyline is inked with his fapjuice.
She wanted to burn a potent symbol of Night Elven hope, while cooking a few of the insects inside it. They are Night Elves, who cares what you do to them? Most relatable warchief so far.
