If it is really all it is cracked up to be I hope so, I bought the previous model and am stuck with massive over heating issues and no BIOS options, are you able to access anything other than trivial stuff with the BIOS? I'm in the process of getting a refund or upgrade replacement to this.
KrazzahU well I’ve played Fortnite and call of duty for 3 hours or so and it hasn’t gotten over 87 degrees. It’ll vary between laptop but I think it’s a really good one. The quality of the build is wayyyy better than the msi and a dell.
This guy got a golden sample. Most people with this specific model (including me) have the CPU cooking at 93-99C and I have sent the laptop once to the service center. I had to limit the CPU speed to 3.6Ghz which is honestly very disappointing when the advertising over glorified the shitty cooling solution.
If u want to know more u should look to other places... better look for forums related to this laptops issues if there are any... but most of the time u find people who talk about some rare issue they have... but if u dont see people complain about the thing ur wondering abouf then its fine... ive seen one of these laptops 2 weekends ago in a store and i picked it up while it was opened and nothing happened... the screen didnt move at all... i should have started with this but i forgot about it... but i dont think they were the same model cause that was a zephyrus m and this is a zephyrus s... but it should apply to the entire model range... so yeah... no issues at all with the hinge from my little experience with the zephyrus lineup... and to be frank the laptop i played with had a really strong/stiff hinge not a lot but it certainly had a bit more resistance when u opened it then other laptops...
make the camera angle on top instead this cuz its hard to see the stuffs when they are in the backgrond and make a cinematic looks bruv just fiving you a friendly advice bruv
Its just a big piece of plastic that gets pushed and bent out... so when u get something inside like idk lets say an sd card or a small usb stick(i dont think normal ones would get it but some that are as small as the new xbox one controller adapters would) it would just not close so ull see the laptop balance on the still raised corner and the one opposite to it... but after all its just some plastic screwed in with 4 screws so u can easily replace it...
Wait, so the 16GB comes out of box is single channel fixed on the motherboard. Doesn't single channel hurt performance in some games if I leave the other RAM slot open?
I agree. This is good way to do business. To review the products you sell for potential customers to see. On top of that I hear this company is the best official reseller of Asus laptop's.
Ordered, arriving tomorrow! Repasting looks easy enough, and upgrading RAM to dual and adding a second NVMe seems easy peasy. Perfect. So happy with the pruchase.
yaaweehoo I do live in UK as well and is not available, I’ve been trying to find it for ages and the model that they sell is the 240hz what I’m not personally interested in. I came to Spain few days on holidays and I found it for 2199€ on sales in the Asus website so I bought one 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@ZS-xi4xk on amazon it was pricey but they bought it down and i was concerned about the life span like how long it would last it did get hot for me while gaming it was around 80-87 even when i undervolted and because of that i decided to send it back i am just gonna wait till next year or so.
@@admiralv8538 You're not going to find much better temps out of a thin a light gaming pc. Usually temps are well above 90 C when gaming in other models.
@@ZS-xi4xk ahhh well ty for the reply but i prob just wait a while i mean i did feel that the life span won't last long so yeah i was hoping it would last me 10 years but from what i see on reddit some only last a year or 3 years then i thought it was not worth spending 2500 for a 3 year lasting gaming laptop.
How did you remove the heat pipe assembly so easily. Mine seems as if it is stuck. I removed the 8 screws and the 3 screws on each hinge. I am stuck. Thanks.
Hey man. Plz help. I messed up the screw sizes. I tried to test the long one and dmaged my laptop but it's ok. Can you tell me which size of screws goes where? Plz I need help.
this laptop is great but it have high thermal which mean it always at 95/89 degree celcius even undervolting doesnt help and it always have thermal throttling i wish the thermal is great
Can you please confirm if the 2nd m.2 SSD slot has the screw? Really wanna insert a new SSD into the second slot but i'm being put off by having to buy the tiny m.2 screw with it. Would be really helpful if it was there.
Amazing free specials they have. I really really want this laptop, but was slightly concerned about those fan speeds when gaming. If you install the fuji pads + upgraded thermal grease that should keep temps even lower = lower noise output. Please place your results here! I'm def not gonna spend $2,500 if it sounds like a jet lol. Thanks!
J Bob I will! Want to hear from them first before posting my results. Not fair to post my information at the moment. Regardless, you can undervolt as well to reduce about 8C.
Hello, do you know what thinkness of thermal pad I should to replace the ones used here? Looks like they melted so I cannot know which thickness to use. Thank you!!!
Can you help me to choose new laptop. If you were in my place which one do you want to buy? Why? I have two laptop in my mind. This is a Acer predator helios 300 RTX 2060 model and another one is Asus Zephyrus RTX 2060. What do you think?(example: cooling, battery life etc.)
Nice video! Ive a question about the charger. I bought this laptop in china because Im staying here for the whole summer. But i live in canada which have different plugs. Do you know what exact size is that cable connecting the wall and the power brick? And where might I buy this? Im looking to just buy the cable and not the power brick if thats possible.
Yes the GX502 product line comes with 2x M.2 PCIe slots, you can install two PCIe or M.2 SSDs no problem as you can see there are a empty 2nd M.2 slot in the video. The 2x M.2 slots supports RAID-0 and RAID-1 configuration as well.
There are way too many games and in-game setting out there, therefore, we perform 3DMark benchmarking as a standard result and it's easier to compare to previous models.
Do you happen to know how to enable g-sync? I just got this laptop and can't figure this out for the life of me. Nothing in the manual about it and read an amazon comment that you have to activate discrete graphics to enable it (but can't find that either). Great review btw, it was the reason I got this laptop!
If you haven't figured it out yet: Armoury Crate -> Home -> 2nd tab (little diamonds at the bottom right) -> Device Configuration -> GPU Mode! (reboot required to switch) Hope this helps! Had mine for a week before I found the setting.
Nice review!, i'm a little bit worried about the bottom part and the vent for long time use , will it be strong enough after we open and close the laptop a lot ,and even when we carry the laptop with open lid
Ive got the older Gm501 that has the same bottom part after about a year of dragging it all over the states for work its still the same as the day I took it out of the box. Ive used it for gaming while stuck in hotels and at work programming plcs and hmi screens. I do open it up to clean regularly.
the man just completely skipped over the Pantone validated sticker. That's a big deal if you are looking for a laptop for professional design work, especially for print materials.
It’s not tn panel. To be exactly, They’re saying ‘ips-level’ because they want to avoid patent problem in some region. Actually , in China, this panel is advertised as ips.
This display is a Sharp IGZO VA panel. Its viewing angels and contrast are at IPS levels and are very good overall. IGZO has mediocre contrast levels but is still much better than TN.
I've got the same model and specs, my cpu hit 95 every time a play games. Do you think itd be worth removing stock thermal paste and replacing with liquid metal or the graphite sheet?
To be honest I don't think it's bad because every gaming laptops get hot like that so I don't think it will break. If it breaks u still have warrantly :) Max temps for CPU is 100°C
In my opinion, liquid metal is too risky for a laptop that will be jostled around in a backpack, and a graphite pad is actually not that good for laptops, it's meant more for people who run multiple benchmarks who normally need to replace paste multiple times. Your best bet is to repaste with something like Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, and undervolt it. Honestly I think you just got a bad paste job. I've seen multiple reviews mention the CPU hitting 95C, but I'm pretty sure Asus just has the CPU thermal throttle when it hits this point. The reason why I think the Zephyrus actually has great potential is because in this review max temps were in the mid 80s, while NotebookCheck saw temps peaking jn the low 80s, so I think they just got a better paste job than others, whose test machines ended up throttling at 95 C.
At what speed that onboard memory is running anyway? If its 2666mhz, means we can't get something like 3200mhz for the available slot right? So it'll be stuck forever at 2666mhz!
Unfortunately no you can't! I don't k ow why Asus can't do more than one thing differently, lol The strix scar 3(newest model) has the RGB lobo on the back. (but you can't change the colors or style of it like you can with the keyboard (breathing, static, rainbow, etc.)
The way I understand it from reading, etc is that there is 1 x 16gb soldered on. So if you want dual channel you have to go with another 16gb stick. That sucks, but in particular, GentechPC is offering that for only $100 more... not too bad. Hope this helps!
@@Jowersman That's unfortunate. You'd think they'd learn from their mistake since their last gen "gaming" laptops only had 1 stick of RAM too. Their new Scar III has 2 sticks from the factory though.
@@hallow5170 yeah 16 gb integrated into the motherboard and an empty slot which u can fill with another 16gb stick to get the over the top 32gb dual channel ram goodness... i wonder how many chunks u could load in minecraft xD
Great review, thanks. My wife was going to buy this for me because I am so unhappy with my laptop I got at Christmas. First let me say, I am not a gamer. I was looking for a laptop that could be good at video editing. That's what I look for the most. Something that can save quick and handle splicing and music adding and editing. Is this a good laptop for me?
76db... I can't believe this laptop is so loud. Is this healthy? WHO should ban this. This is madness. Check db scale. This laptop outperforms hairdryer and reach "loud radio" and drum base... For the love of God....
@@martinbrankov8504 Not really a gimmick if you try it. Definitely you can feel it much rather than seeing it but to justify the cost idk. It's more for the people who want to shell out the dough with no compromises. If you will use the touchpad entirely then 240hz is worthless for anyone. NEED a seperate mouse with it.
@@ThatMmosGuy Well i bought zephyrus gx701gxr 144hz two weeks ago. Jump is from 60hz asus rog and while playing world of warcraft I dont notice any difference :-/ but i will install call of duty modern warfare and test it there.
EmarxtiGeo dude i prefer other laptop than this its because is always thermal throttling like everytime like its always at 95 degree for the cpu and the gpu is like 86-75 degree celcius i know the gpu is almost not really hot even undervolted the cpu always the same
Definitely better then spending 1000 dollars on a phone... like even for laptops, one with a 1660ti aka the midrange gpu cost between 1000 and 1200 dollars where i live... in the past laptops with the high end x70m were around there from 1200 to 1300... like yeah the new gpus might be better but that doesnt change the fact that the cheapest ones with a 2070 are starting from around 1800 dollars here in my country...
How to make it a near perfect laptop: get rid of the g sync its pointless, just reduces battery and increases price. make the battery 97whr. keep it to 144hz why do you need 240hz on a laptop, reduces the battery again and increases price. get rid of the stupid rog logo on the lid its tacky. add a decent webcam, idk why companies can't invest in decent webcams now.
@@admiralv8538 yeah it's great but 144hz on a laptop is 100% fine all 240hz does is give you less battery and a higher price to pay. I don't really see the point for laptops. Monitors sure I'm going to buy one soon too but it's run of the wall so don't need to conserve battery.
1) G-Sync is not pointless. It's only bad on Laptops if you don't have the ability to turn it off and have optimus/better battery life.......with this laptop and many asus laptops, you have the ability to turn it off.........G-sync on...2 to 3 hours.....G-sync off....5 to 6 hours of battery. 2) 240hz is great, not just for gaming, but for everyday use, it makes the windows interface really smooth. You have the ability to reduce the refresh rate to save battery.......My Aero 15 has a 144hz refresh rate......I use a program and task scheduler to automatically switch to 60hz when on battery..........144hz 5 to 6 hours of battery.........vs 60hz 6 to 7 hours of battery. 3) I agree with the logo, but that is their brand, they can't get rid of it for one laptop and keep if for others.........You have the ability to get a skin or custom wrap to cover it up. 4) I agree with the fact that it needs a decent webcam on the top like the razer blade, nex xps 15 etc with small bezels on the top......also laptop webcams are shitty because they don't have much space.....they have to sit on the top display area.....laptop displays lids are about 4 to 6mm thin and they can't have bulges, thus worse camera quality on average compared to smartphones that are 7 to 9mm with bulges. 5) I also agree that they could have made it 1 or 2mm thinner and given it a 94 to 99wh battery. 6) the single channel ram can be fixed by adding another extra 16GB of ram for 32gb total......I have 32gb in my aero 15. Overall most of the complaints about this laptop are not valid, you can turn off g-sync, reduce the refresh rate, cover the lid logo with a custom skin/wrap, add an extra stick of ram etc
The batteries NEVER get that hot, the only logical way that they would bulge is from an extended charge, which is prevented by a failsafe auto discharge feature.
