Our Ridge Runner/shuttle driver was willing to slack pack us 11.3 miles SOBO from Salisbury, CT, for which we were grateful. We were able to complete the hike in near record time and were able to stay at Maria McCabe’s hostel a second night.

This is really easy to say as planner who is couch sitting living vicariously through two friends. I like a good plan but. . . Sometimes when you plan and plan and plan life throws a different narrative. After backing up and replanning over and over it starts to resemble failure when your a planner. It isn’t failure!!! Give yourself a little grace. Maybe take a few days and plan the food and plan the water but not the mileage or the destination. find a stealth site as needed and just “celebrate the win” for that day wherever it may be. You might end up night hiking a bit, uploading 2-3 days of video at once, or sleeping in a park but you won’t have fallen short of the days plan. The trail will provide right? You guys are truly an inspiration!!! Thanks for taking us along and hope you can feel us cheering you on to Maine!

“…a good easy hike when I can…” and then the root. You couldn’t have scripted it better!

I have always believed that when something slows you down, there is a reason. Take your time and smell the roses. Once in a lifetime opportunity. If you are a couple days past your end date, it will be ok.

Hang in there. Even Jesus tells us in John 16: 33- 33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
