"I don't measure the AI fleet's lack of fear as a commendable trait. Fear is but a result of comprehension, of deeper understandings. Retreat. The Remnants of the AI wars will never retreat from battle because they do not comprehend the importance of fear. They do not understand the mistakes they have made." -Log found in the personal TriPad of an Atlas Mk7 Captain
it would be cool if the amount of loot was decided by 2 factors. first, how damaged the enemy ship is and second, your comprehension of that technology. this way you could have salvage officers that give a boost to comprehension and there level and skill can go up with the amount of salvaging they do and you could also get a boost if you have the "blueprint" of what you are salvaging.
The down points of a atlas mkII IS its weak and get destroyed very easily but has lots of fire power. Si je uses that fire power has an adventage and juste pour a small frigats upfront to tank becaus it has thick shield ans then thé atlas gonna destroy thé ai.
2 large ballistics with accelerated ammo and 2 large missiles able to focus fire, in a package with the deployment cost of a heavy cruiser. Just gotta keep them glass cannons alive.
In other news, missile spam is strong. You used to be able to do the same thing with Pirate falcons, and I think you still can even after the nerfs. The T-posing monitor is all you need for AI to be dumb and try to focus fire it, Atlases may be made out of a wet paper napkin but it doesn't matter when the enemy ships can't get to them. As a side note, ships and weapons behave differently when you do 2x speed, so it is always better to use normal speed for these types of demonstrations. Still, it looks like you had to do quite a bit of micro to keep the atlases lined up, the monitors up front and the remnant frigates on cover on the sides.
Falcon (P) is now crazy strong with 4 proximity charge launchers. your hull mod should be safety override + expanded missile rack maybe throw in harden shield just incase. You had a ship with crazy speed and maneuverability; 2000+ AOE damage per barrage per sec; crazy strong shield cuz you dont spend any flux to deal damage. This ship build dont event needs to build-in any hull mod but can easy 1v1 against any capital ship. In real combat you just turn on your jet and run in to the enemy. No amount of shield can resist 2000 dps from this ship. I usually bring along 2-3 Falcon (P) with this build incase I some how manage to spend 150x4 proximity charge, I can still swap it out for a new one.
Thats amazing. I wouldnt expect those ships to last seconds let alone do as well as they did. Also, what are those tiny ships with alpha cores and why do you use them?
The mvp are the monitors, they are the tankiest shield based ship if you safety override them. They will have enough flux dissipation to withstand full onslaught barrage.
Damn, I heard that the Monitor is OP but it didn't realise it's that insane, I gotta find that blueprint :D Extremely cool strategy to use the Atlases like this. Such a well put together fleet. I really have to up my game when it comes to fleet comps. What weapon is mounted on the two ballistic slots of the Atlases? Looks like some sort of autocannon but I don't recognise it.
Monitor is surely OP and I wanted to showcase that but it also works with any other well shielded frig like Omen. The weapons are Mjolnirs and they are slightly rare vanilla weapons. Not great unless you can get the perfect officers like I did though. And don't worry about upping your game. It's a single player game so the goal is to have fun. ^^ this is just a funny meme fleet too.
God dammit. I really need to start learning the command system. So i can be on par with the enemy ai without needing to command a support cruiser or capital zzz. Impressive how you managed it so well.
@@archangel8172 first of all, no thats boring for me. Been there done that plenty of times. Second of all my game is modded into oblivion xp Got over 1000h by now for sure if not even 1500. So id rather delve into the strategical side of this game than bruteforce due to it being a new experience for me alltogether. Buuut that wont happen for the next 1-3 years. My pc broke. And im broke lol.
@@thunderousavenger2382 ye despite this game looking simplistic it actually needs decent processing power. Personally the fleet that i always used alongside my flagship is 4 conquests and 8 drovers. With that i could be at peace cuz the conquests can kite and dont get killed easily even when extremely overwhelmed.
I personally expected something like -50% dp 30 atlases then you titled it that way, but I've been amazed positively still. Don't get me wrong, not in the thousands lifetimes i wouldn't try this loud dirty mess of screeching plasteel stitched together by some madman, but i cannot deny it works and works incredibly well. Bonus points to you for not piloting a flagship, and only giving orders. Just one question, is it really necessary to give so many commands?
Without the commands they would die. I actually went a bit light on commands. As you can see at the end where I tried to let the viewer see, and not put in commands, it resulted in losing 2 glimmers.
@@epser5842 What’s the thought behind your commands? I want to try to start controlling my fleet on the tactical level more but I find it really hard to understand what kind of formations I should try to create, or where my ships should move?
@@jonathanpfeffer3716 Commands depend on the fleet you are using. This kind of fleet is similar to a Gryphon or Eradicator fleet with a bunch of line ships, except more precise. I'm putting 2 rally points to put the atlases in a line. I'm using rally because it's more strict than defend, and the Atlases need to do exactly as told or else they will die. You use 2 points since it forms a line the best. If a ship doesn't respond you should give it a new command. Defend orders for frigates on the sides to be more flexible, and so that frigates will kill flankers while also not blocking fire. Monitor on eliminate to distract because Monitor is broken and immortal.
I thought pirate ships were bad, especially Atlas MkII because it's a modified freighter ( and generally I don't like the modified freighters ). You proved me the exact opposite. Seeing that they cost only 24 dp started to change my mind. When I saw the efficiency against Remnant, it changed my mind completely.
Yo its crazy I added Behemoth remix and Roller Mobster (among like 50 other songs) to a sounds modpack. For a second i thought I recorded this or something i was so confused lmao
Have you tried Gauss Cannons or is the Rate of Fire too low to keep pressure on the Remnant Ships? Wonder if different ship layouts with the update and the added bonus effects of built in hull mods. Gonna try this meta and see what it can do. Appreciate the vid and carnage!
This was in .95.1 so a lot has changed but at the time mjolnir was 100% the best weapon here. I tried every other large ballistic but mjolnirs were the best with hephaestus as a close second. Rate of fire is a big issue with Gauss but the Atlas mk2s also can't keep up with the flux and being even slightly flux negative is a killer here since they need to be firing 24/7. Gauss are still good/best choice for officerless atlas mk2 or if you don't have perfect officers like this. I use 1 Gauss 1 Devastator for officerless missile boat Atlas mk2
@@epser5842 Dang! Quick on the draw getting back to me, I'm still at work! Want to try these guys against [VERY REDACTED] but I might need to build in Resistant Flux Coils and Shield Front to up the survivability. A frigate screen to keep them distracted like you did would work but I didn't spec into Automated Ships so guess I'll have to shop around.
What was the ECM rating? You seem to have an insane range with those ships. Elite Gunnery Implants on every officer? Also how does this pair with Derilict Operations and you can deploy a lot more ships? Or do they just die incredibly quickly?
Like 40-60 probably. I forgor exactly but it's enough. Gunnery Implants + elite ballistic mastery is gud. My original idea was to do it with SD DO but that absolutely sucked. Atlases need officers to undo all of their weaknesses. I don't think DO is great since they are already super cheap and a dmod like reduced maneuverability or range or flux is absolutely crippling.
@@epser5842 I haven't gotten around to using the pirate Atlas yet myself, but looking at the specs it does seem like Ballistics, Gunnery Implants, and Missile Specialization (with Systems Expertise too if you can swing it) are pretty much mandatory if you want it to be useful.
I tested this build yesterday but got destroyed by just 1 Ordo fleet. They were able to penetrate my cloud of defense and kill my MK2s easily. I repeated the fight several times and noticed my MK2s don't fire as frequently as yours despite having the same build. Most of the time it only fires torpedos from one side of the ship. Also they don't fire mjolnir as frequent either, despite the low flux. I'm wondering if it's due to the version of the game or am I missing something that's not show on the configuration?
I had Speedup enabled during the whole fight cuz I ain't waiting around for twice as long. Squalls have been nerfed and faster remnant ships have been added so you will be overrun easier but it might still be possible. HAGs were also buffed so those might be ok and make the load on getting the right skills lower. The skills were the most important part of the build. I threw away every officer who didn't have those exact skills.
I unintentionally pulled the same shit. Ended up with small fleets of 9 to 15 ships mostly pirate atlas’s. They ended up completely erasing the hedg and sindria from the map
It's probably good. SD DO Atlas mk2 spam is complete ass and unusable but a bit more usable if you only have 1 or 2 of them in your fleet. As long as you don't get the range, maneuverability, or flux dmods officered Atlas mk2s are probably even better than this fleet.
Oh yeah if you want both officer hullmods you will need 5 points + another point into BotB meaning you need to drop a T5 skill (DO). Or you can run with worse officers.
The relevant ones are the 2 green officer skills, Best of the Best, Support Doctrine for higher initial deployment and higher command point recovery, and the blue ECM, elite officer, and flux skills.
I actually did it with Omens too but yeah monitors make it easier and requires less micro so viewers can actually see something other than the tactical screen. Also kind of wanted a high ordo monitor showcase somewhere too
Gamma AI: lmao this human brought shitty ship to fight us lol why would someone be stupid enough to do that Beta AI: *Playing Touhou Music G: What... bro why you playing... whatever that i- Alpha AI: He's preparing for what we would face G: wdym 10 sec later DANMAKU INTENSIFY
y'know id look at a fleet of 10 Mk.2 atlases and go 'LMAO i can beat that with one ship mounting 2 tach beams' then i look at this and thank the stars its not a case of 10 mk.2 mounting squalls
I thought Atlas Mk2 is just a cheap squishy pirate ship nobody would use except for poor terrorist who doesn't have a access to standard military... What a great job man!
@@thunderousavenger2382 Yeah he saw it in this vid so now I know, but still when faced as an enemy they are one of the most helpless and stupid ships to fight against XD All we gonna see is just a bunch of fireworks, you know lol
