why? a 4 door 55 is not worth nothing here in usa besides parts to fix up a 2 door car!!!

I live about 500 miles east of this auction and would never see this for less than $2500. Shoot, the piles of rust and dirt here are usually listed at $3000.

Weirdly enough, that was the main scrap buyer. Don't know why he was checking to see if the tire had air, he was just buying weight. (That was his trailer at the end with all the squashed cars on it.)

@@josephs44 Was a bit sad watching him crush some of those cars before loading them.

2 or 3 are posted up for sale in my area each year. They're in far worse condition and the asking price is 3 to 6 grand. Last year, one in decent shape was posted for $600. I called within one minute of it's post time. "Sorry, it already sold."

You've got me wishing that I would have checked the block number. That would be the best way to tell. I called it a 348 in the walk around video, simply because it had the tiny little 2 bbl carb and intake. The dipstick was on the correct side for 409. Did you happen to catch the school bus video this summer? That one had a "W" engine with the dipstick on the passenger side also. Check in the comments, lots of guys were saying different things. I am not an expert on them, so I can't say 100% one way or the other

We had a 1953 sitting behind the house when I was a kid, but it was a 4-door sedan.

in 1973, we bought1955 chevy 2door Hard tops complete for 500 bucks . So.. dont feel bad...a different time with different tastes, back then..they were concidered junk

@@jeffmayo5283 I sold my 2 door red 55 Chevy when I was leaving California for $75.00 in 1973. It was in beautiful shape.

That was when they were everywhere. Now not so much. Most of those cars are good builders.

At least $30k... depending on how bad it is... and what they want the end result to be.😎 In 1983, when I started to rebuild my '54 pickup, I estimated that I would spend $15k on it, doing 90% of the work myself. By the time I was finished, several years later...I had actually spent close to $25 (as prices rose over time)... and had done all my own work, except for prep for the paint, and the paint job. That was 30+ years ago.

Most folks were probably buying for parts for a better builder.

I could search Marketplace and Craigslist for years and never find any of these cars for less than 3 grand. I'm cheap and I still would have bought several of these.
