Autistic YouTuber Three Years On | Porch Coffee 

The autistic (and ADHD) RU-vid community has done so much for me. Finally I am able to genuinely celebrate my small everyday wins. From being someone who usually beats myself up for the things I don’t succeed in, small or big, I have transformed into someone who’s more and more able to recognize when I actually am able to do things, have small wins, overcome small (but to me sometimes big) obstacles in my everyday life. So thank you, Woodshed theory, for being one of the channels here on YT helping people like me. ❤️❤️❤️ - And thank you to your subscribers too! It means the world to me to have a community I truly feel safe in. A place on YT I can call home. ❤️❤️❤️

Happy Birthday to Woodshed Theory!! The channel is a year older than my niece... she turns 2 on the 6th. Time zones are always a problem... I run a D&D game and play in games with people from the Americas and Europe... and it's always a bit of work. Even in North America it can be hard since someone I follow is on the west coast and likes to stream around 8 pm, but that's 11 my time, so if I work the next day, I need to sleep, so I miss the stream.... which is most of them. There will never be the perfect time for everyone where time zones are concerned. 😩 People work, people sleep, people have school, people have other things going on in their lives and there will never be the perfect time. I think the livestream did pretty good with around 100 people the whole time, even though it was the middle of the night in Europe. My week? I don't remember.... My knee is finally starting to feel more normal and doesn't feel swollen or something when I wake up in the morning. It's been about a month since I woke up with it feeling out of place. It's much better, not 100% .... technically I don't think it'll ever be 100%, I've had knee issues since I was a teenager, but it's nearly at my normal. I've been busy sewing doll clothes for my niece's baby doll. My sewing machine started skipping stitches badly on the last couple of things that I made... so I cleaned it and looked stuff up to try and fix it... it's a bit better, still skipping, but not as much. I realised that the skipped stitches started when I changed the thread. I was using serger thread (white) in my machine since the cones are soooo much cheaper than regular thread, but I never had a big issue with it before, but that might be part of the problem. My mom said to look at buying a new machine... but that led me to look up what types of bobbins they used because I have so many and didn't want all that thread to go to waste. I needed to know what my mine was and realised I didn't know. My manual never gave the class # of bobbins I needed (It's also about 20 years old), so I just bought ones that looked right. I did find out that probably half my bobbins are the wrong ones for my machine... Class 15j and Class 66 are nearly identical. I had to search the part # for the bobbins that was listed in my manual and found out (from Amazon) that I need Class 66. I compared the bobbin from my white thread to a previous one I used that hadn't skipped... and it was slightly larger. 😱 I went to Michael's and bought Class 66 bobbins and they are the smaller sized ones... so now I'll have to go through all my bobbins and try to find the larger ones (like .2 mm difference in size!!!) and try to transfer the thread from those onto the right size (when I have enough of them...). I just hope I didn't damage my machine too much by using the wrong sized bobbins for years... The manual should have listed the size!!! I didn't realise there were two so close in size... Anyway, the clothes aren't perfect, but I tried my best. People keep saying I should sell doll clothes, but there are too many errors in them, I can't sell them. Now I need to make a card. My head is in sewing mode, so switching to card making mode is proving to be difficult.

I'm going through the Porch Coffee playlist, I'm on 58 of 143 episodes, and it has been really cool watching the jingle form over the weeks. For sure I sing along each time! 🌈🦄🥔

Good morning and yay!!! Three years is awesome! I really enjoyed both your interactions with Mike and what you and Jen did for Orion. Totally understand trying to find the right shirt. I do not do much tropical but can well imagine it would be quite a decision for me. lol. Clothes most generally are. I blame the artiste inside. 😊 Ooh, love looking at people's old stuff too. It can be both relaxing and energizing. Yes, so often have vids going while I do other things. Yours quite often are among my biggest go-tos. 🙂 And, oh, yes, to the earwormy fun of your song. I have a radio in my head. I can hear songs on repeat and summon up what I want when I want. Music is a centering force in me and my family's lives. Your song is right in there with my faves and was big motivator early on to "click the subscribe button" ( sorry I love the tone you get on "ring the bell" but must confess I never do, but only so I don't experience overwhelm. A 'clink' of mugs. Don't know how long I've been sub'd here. Over 2 yrs. Porch coffee was going. Health update: Liver surgery was supposedly this coming Friday but is now hopefully the following Tues if I can shake off the cough I've had the last 5 wks. The cough has been one straw too many & I've been struggling so much the last wk. Can't get my arse to bed at night, can't get out of it in the morning. This morning was so bad. I didn't even want to be awake. Just couldn't face the day. I managed after 2 hrs. Sooner this surgery is over the better but it's prob only the 1st of 2 (bowel tumour to follow). At least that will be at the local hospital. This just so emphasises being on my own it sucks. Happy 3rd B'day woodshed !

Good morning (actually evening) Claire! The day was packed with meetings, and on a Monday, how dare they! So I couldn't watch live, but I am so glad to hear about the 3 years; congratulations! You, Jenn, and Orion are so awesome; I love that I have stumbled into this great community :) I've been mulling the collection of mugs and I have a few ideas! A 'clatter' of mugs, come look at this Mugnificent collection I have! :D A 'brew' of mugs could fit

That was a really enjoyable live, if you haven’t watched it yet you should. I’ve just been struggling with inertia for a bit. Giving yourself the time and grace to just do nothing is hard. I always feel I should be doing more. But I just haven’t had the energy to do much. So I look at the stuff I was able to do. I made it to Germany this week. I went on Friday and nothing went like I thought it would. I spend the Thursday studying menus from the restaurant of the town I was visiting. I ended up just going to a doner shop. You could only pay with cash there so I had to go find a ATM. Doner in Germany was different than over here. Here they wrap it in a tortilla and you get garlic sausage with it. There it’s wrapped in a wrap they make in the shop and they serve it with tzatziki saus which was different but tasted good. The tobacconist had a smorgasbord of pipe tobacco choices for really good prices. And as a thank you for visiting this little town for the first place I got a parking ticket lol. But it was a pretty good trip two hour drive to get there and a two hour drive back but well worth the time. This week I’ll be concentrating at getting back to doing stuff. I like porch coffee it marks the start of my week. Hopefully I’ll be able to start my week for the foreseen future with it. Again congrats on the three year anniversary here is to many more. 🎊 🎉🥳🍾. I could only listen last week, have been really struggling with burnout from trying to hold everyone in my family together during a particularly difficult time. It is a week later and starting to feel like I might actually be able to talk to people again even if I am not completely out of burnout. So tired still!

You're not alone in wanting to have multiple things going on. I'm very ADHD (and leaning into the good things about it) and I often I'm the most productive when I have multiple things going at the same time. I find I need just the right amount of distraction to keep it together during tasks that I don't find challenging or interesting. I'm able to hyperfocus if things are a challenge or interesting to me, but if they aren't, then my mind wanders if I don't have enough external distractions going on to keep my brain entertained. So often I will use automation that requires only occasional interaction from me for the less challenging things. Then I will wind yarn, listen to YT, audible, etc at the same time. However, I am easily overwhelmed if there's too much going on that requires my immediate attention, like trying to focus while little kids are chirping in my ear. It's not because they are kids, it's because they are my grands or family that I feel like I want to give all my attention and it's overwhelming when something else is demanding my attention as well. If it's just a crowd of random kids, no problem. Anyway, everyone is different and it's only important that they find their own version of balance in the amount of stuff going on to get things done. We all just need to embrace who we are and lean into the good things that those differences bring to the table. Take care, Hugs.
