I take a tour of our woods in the Kubota RTV 900 side x side.
It is Autumn here in northeast Iowa and the leaves are spectacular this year.
Hop in and ride along on a leaf tour of the property.
This farm is 224 acres with about a 50/50 split between farm ground and the timber / pasture.
We are blessed to have such a beautiful timber on this property.

We’ve lost all our ash here for last 7-8 years or so. So many I’ve lost count on how many we’ve cut down and burned for firewood. Awesome colors there. We are really started to get good color here. Thanks for taking us in a ride. 👍✊

Those ravines are spectacular…can almost smell the leaves. I’ve always said the river country in your state has the best scenery in summer and fall. Love the hardwood forest! Thanks for the tour. We have 15 acres of beautiful black ash that appears to be healthy but I’m sure it’s doomed….I have a logger interested in them.

Enjoyed the landscape throughout the tour Gary. I have a lot of ash trees to cut as well. Will do it early November. The sooner they are cut the better. They become more dangerous to cut the longer you leave them. The trunks can get punky quickly and the tops quite brittle. Yup, high winds and tree's equal job security. Have a good one!

I've been seeing lots of dead Ash. My Brother's are still alive for now. Too bad since the majority of his Grove is Ash. Nearly all of his hardwood. Thank you Gary.

Hey Gary. Most of the leaves around here are down. Has been really wet here lately. The problem with the Ash trees is that you pretty much have to cut them as soon as you see them dying . If you wait too long they are not worth cutting. The wood seems to turn punky or half-rotten really fast with these bugs killing them. It seems to be different than when they die naturally. I have had loggers tell me this too. Thanks for the tour.

Good evening Gary. Nice colors. Most of ours are gone now. Finally. It's easier to see the birds. 😉 The Tamarack are probably about peak right now. I'll see if I can get a short tomorrow of the colorful Tamarack. I worry about our Ash at the camp in the UP. No borers there yet but other parts of the UP have them. 😳

All of our Ash trees are dead, too. I have two by the road and between power lines that I'll pay someone to take down. I love your land. I've wanted to purchase an abutting 40 acre parcel and another 25 acre parcel, but land is so expensive here now. It went from $500 or $1,000/acre to $5,000/acre. Too many people moving from other states.

I feel your pain Rick. Some farm land here in Iowa went for more than $ 30,000 / acre. That’s not a misprint. More than $ 30,000 / acre. That is certifiably nuts!

We have had snow in the forecast here twice in this past week and the weather guessers have taken it back out both times. We don’t need to get snow ahead of Will, Brent, and Bryce. That just wouldn’t be fair to them. You however, seem to go from the 90’s to snow! Poor livestock. That is really hard on them.

Thanks Brent. Yes, it is white ash. We have one black ash and it is dead too. We are going to log off the dead trees this winter. They still can make them into pallets so they do have some value.
