32-875dc bachmann 2-6-4 fairburn unboxing and running session.
this is one of two locos that can be found at the lakeside and haverthwaite railway in cumbria, they are a stunning looking loco and am glad ive finally managed to get one representing the one currently under over haul at haverthwaite.
The loco did come with factory fitted dcc decoder but ive had it upgraded by olivias trains with steam sound, working lighting and smoke generator which really does add to this model.

Impressive tank engine with the smoke and flickering fire box , that model was my first ever loco ( Hornby Dublo ) in 1955 . The loco is long gone but not the interest in trains , still brings so much pleasure . Cheers........Peter

Cheers Peter amazing to think that when the hornby dubli model came out the real thing was still in service, my first was the hornby hst that still works over 30 years later, thanks for watching. Tom

That’s a particularly attractive locomotive!! I might even get a brand new one rather than fitting sound to my ancient Hornby Fairburn!!
@northwesttrainsmodels

it is a lovely model i think they have been around for around 10-12 years but they certainly are a reccommended loco

Smoke oil? I had that with my first 0-6-0 tank locomotive when I was a boy!! It was a Hornby locomotive with Syncrosmoke. It hauled both goods and passenger traffic.
@northwesttrainsmodels
@northwesttrainsmodels 3 года назад
it does add a nice bit of character to the loco especially with the steam sound, its amazing that they could do the smoke effect all those years ago but they dont bother now with ready to run models i suppose it maybe due to current safety and hygene just a guess

@@northwesttrainsmodels More likely that it would cost too much to include!! I’m going to fit a smoke unit into the locomotives on my main layout. I just CANNOT see Pitchford Hall without smoke coming out of her chimney!!

Thanks for the video, I like these locos myself. I am assuming that there was no more room left in the loco for a stay alive which would have cured your point problems. Thanks, Mel
@northwesttrainsmodels
@northwesttrainsmodels 3 года назад
Am sure they could probably fit a stay alive I didn't think it would be needed for a large loco to be honest when I ordered it, the loco runs fine over peco insulfrog points no problem which I've got on the heritage line, I wouldn't have used hornby express points now if I went back in time but mainline diesels are ok so I've left them in, but each time I do an unboxing video I use the hornby express points as a way of testing how good the running quality is. Thanks for watching. Tom

My Fairburn is a very elderly Hornby model. She has DCC but not sound.

i didnt realise hornby done a fairburn ill have to look it up and compare them

@@northwesttrainsmodels Hornby did it until about two years ago, then discontinuing it because it wasn’t a profitable model.

Just to remind you!! The MAXIMUM SPEED for a heritage line is 25 MILES PER HOUR!!!!
@northwesttrainsmodels
@northwesttrainsmodels 3 года назад
i cheat sometimes, oh though riding on some heritage lines the trains do sometimes feel like there going at a slightly higher speed i now the great central railway can go to 40mph i think on there double track section i wouldnt mind going there one day

Chuffs seem to be well out of Sync.
@northwesttrainsmodels
@northwesttrainsmodels Год назад
Hi George I've had this loco a few years now, it doesn't really bother me to much, not sure if the sounds improved from olivias, is there away of altering the chuvs so there more in sync
@Madonsteamrailways
@Madonsteamrailways 3 года назад
Not legally, it can’t!! The LAW states that it will be ILLEGAL to drive a train, either diesel or steam over 25 MPH.
@northwesttrainsmodels
@northwesttrainsmodels 3 года назад
i now on heritage lines they are restrictored to 25mph but am sure i saw somewere that the great central railway has permisssion to do 40mph unless thats just on certain occasions
