On this Episode of Backyard Builds we go through the process to convert a Valiant Disc brake front end to AU/BA falcon calipers and rotors. For Shirts and Hoodies: backyardbuildsaus.bigcartel.com/
$100 for rotors, hubs are close to $500, then you got to chase up adapter, calipers, cheap for those who are lucky enough to be well enough to work maybe, not beating up on you guys, I like what you do, and try to do it cheap as you can. great info, this is what we like, but us tavo guys not by choice, its not feasible. i cant even find a auto for my v8, stores are really hiking up the prices too. its like everything is made of gold, its ridiculously over priced. cheaper to buy a high brand car parts for imported cars than a valiant, getting beyond a joke. keep up the how to on the cheap, thats what we like.
As you say mate a lot of stuff is priced like gold and we have noticed it is thin on the ground. We do now sell the adapters on our page for $175 shipped to you. That is close to our raw cost in laser cutting, machining and zinc plating. We just trying to offer a cost effective solution. Thanks heaps for all your comments on our video and thanks for watching.
Hey boys just stumbled across your channel, looks great. As far as the disk brake conversion is concerned, if you don't mind me asking what hubs/ bearings are you using? I cut my own chassis connectors and torque boxes as well. No luxury of a rotisserie though. Up on stands and blocks but all levelled of course. VG pacer.
Hi Geoff, Thanks for watching! We’ve covered this in other episodes, also looking to produce bolt on kits continue watching to find out more info. Cheers Thomas
Hey guys love the channel! How did u go mounting the booster and master cylinder? Also do u guys have the measurements for your adapter bracket? I reckon I'll be doing the same conversion on my old val. Cheers and keep up the awsome work 🤘
Hey mate. We haven’t mount the master and booster just yet it’s definitely on the list once the wagon is done. We have the adapters for sale if you would like a set. backyardbuildsaus.bigcartel.com/product/valiant-to-falcon-brake-adapters
Hey fellas, does it matter if you are using the standard wheels and the center bore doesn't fit into the wheel as far, it doesnt look like it will be holding the load as it normally does?
Hi Jonathan, it does matter, the center bore of the wheel should be snug on the hub to carry the load, If the center of the rim is larger then the hub a Concentric adapter would be best to use as there should be no load on the nuts or studs. Hope this helps mate.
Never realised it was that easy to convert to AU brakes on a Valiant, I'll definitely look into this for my VJ Charger now! Are you doing anything with the front end to get it extra low? I've got lowered stubs in the Charger but they're more trouble than they're worth in my opinion and I'm thinking of going back to stock but with flatter bump stops.
Hey mate, Yeah it was one of the simpler conversions we have done, The adapter to the Au caliper was a little complicated but pretty easy. At the moment the ute is just wound down on the torsion bars, it does have ta=ravel but not a great deal. My personal ute is nearly on the bump stops front and back and it rides pretty well tbh.
