How good does this look? Well it tastes even better! This traditional English dish is succulent pan roasted sausages with garlic and rosemary, with a buttery mash, served with the most epic Red wine and onion jus. It couldn't be simpler and looks so impressive when you serve it up.

been a chef for a while now and always been taught that put potoato skin on into cold water bring to boil cook u till tender pill hot and then mash with butter on a medium heat on.the slove any reason you put them into.already boilimg water anything grows below the ground boil.cold anything grows above cook in already boiled water

Hi Danny, back when I was a head chef, (20 years ago) I always got frustrated with some of these cooking methods as I was always about cooking quickly and effectively. If you try boiling a potato using both methods blind folded and tell me the difference? By all means, stick to which ever chosen method you prefer, I just personally opt for the quickest route to get the dinner in front of the family. :-) Thanks for watching bud and always good to get comments on here.

Its not an editing mistake. He didn’t need oil to begin with as the sausage fat mixes with garlic. Oil added after with the other ingredients. Please return the paper hat. 😁

This looks amazing! For comfort food I love a good beef stew cooked low and slow in the oven with a rosemary gremolata sprinkled over it just before serving 😋 I'm not a fan of thinking of white potatoes as an 'indulgence' though - the demonisation of the humble spud in favour of sweet potatoes is one of my bugbears!

I like to do all of it in the same pan together and leave the sausages in the pan after browning and use chicken stock instead of beef. Rosemary, onions, red chilli, garlic. If I'm in a hurry ill use a Beurre Manie to thicken the gravy. Comes out lush.

British mash does seem a different animal from American-style mashed potatoes. The main difference seems that British mash takes waxier potatoes, resulting in a different texture, which one would naturally be inclined to leave more lumpy, less smooth. In the U.S. when you make mashed potatoes, it goes something like this: peel and cut up the fluffiest (least waxy) potatoes you can find (usually russet, or Idaho, potatoes), boil them in well-salted water for 15 to 20 minutes or until fork-tender, then, after draining off the water, proceed to "scorch" them, which means to stir the potato pieces rapidly in the pot over high heat to evaporate as much water as possible - being careful of course not to literally scorch, or burn, them. Next comes relentless richness: first, lots and lots of butter, mashed directly into the hot potato pieces, followed often by generous dollops of sour cream, followed by either whole milk or cream (perhaps infused with onion, garlic, bay leaf and white pepper corns) stirred in until desired consistency is achieved, usually meaning fluffy and able to sustain peaks but without ever becoming soupy. The seasoning of choice for American-style mashed potatoes is white pepper, ideally freshly ground directly into the potatoes - lots and lots of white pepper. Finally, the idea with American-style mashed potatoes is to whip them until they are - no, not lumpy or textured like British mash - but fluffy and smooth. If you've made your mashed potatoes right, you should be able to do with them what Richard Dreyfuss did in Close Encounters Of The Third Kind: build Devil's Tower on your dinner plate, complete with fork-etched striations.

Wow!!!! Love sausage and mash. It's hard to find this English classic in the States. My favorite comfort food is probably ramen. But honestly, it depends on what cuisine im craving. Traditional Mexican tacos are definitely on the list as well as pasta with meatballs. Hahaha, ohhh just thought of another one...chicken pot pie. Alright, I'm done. Thank you for the video as always!

You should really try putting some freshly grated nutmeg, black pepper and finely chopped fresh thyme into your mashed potatoes - it makes mash soo much better!😍🤤

Looks fantastic, it's really hard to find a good low fat high meat sausage in the US, most are a fatty breakfast sausage. The best way to get what I want is to make my own. Fantastic looking meal. Comfort food has to be goulash. Or a spaghetti but the sauce had to come from my garden.

I mix this up all the time, I love this with a Toulouse, or a cumberland too. Turkey sausages works well, pretty much any good quality ones.

Cook the onions, add small amount of flour, mix then add the stock slowly while stirring and season it up. Still be nice just wont taste the wine.
