I love all these videos, I get to try them out in my gym, I'm really weak in the blocking/guard department, even after some time practising martial arts, this has helped me a lot.

I love these videos! Keep them coming Dan. I’m learning so much from these martial arts videos that apply to business. This one showed me that even if someone’s attacking you AKA your business is going to shit, you don’t curl up in a ball and stand still. You keep moving forward and jabbing and elbowing while defending your sensitive spots.

Last resort for sure. I think covering and moving in on an attacker is a highly advanced skill that as you say works better with gloves. Seek safety in the heart of danger right? I prefer a strategy of moving away from the attack which is an easy tactic for anyone and/or side-stepping and blocking/trapping before or at the same time I am countering. Be like water and flow the hell out of the line of fire! lol I think practicing evasive footwork and effective blocking skills that position you to counter is a better plan in the long run. Most systems don't practice correct blocking. A lot of the blocking and chambering is ineffectual and as you so aptly point out will only cause you to hit yourself. For example when chambering the blocking arm inside for a high or middle block it will cause your arm to hit your other arm which will hit you in the face. Many styles teach this. However, when chambering the blocking arm outside for the same blocks causes the attack to stop when the arms collide.

I think they teach that kind of blocking in kickboxing. Very helpful.

Having used this i can say no one likes to hit the elbow cause it hurts them obviously, bad thing is you will eat some body punches if you fail to capitalize on offensive opportunities. But I still like it.
