Welcome to my living room, KC. I'm an adamant Southerner, a Texan specifically, but there are a few Yankees I'd love to know personally, and you're one of 'em. 🤠 4:32 That's HIGH rye!

Why, thank you, sir! And yes - it's a high rye, but it's young and blended after aging. Really great pour. Complex - lots of flavor.

New to your channel. Never have had either bottle you compared here and am considering a Taylor purchase. You and I both started our journey at the same time but -- and I hope you take this as constructive feedback -- your video here is overall one of the worst blinds I've seen. Here are the problems I see: 1. When it came time at the end of the video to reveal which glass was which, you did it by trying to match up color of the whiskey. Speaking as a viewer of the video, when you went to match colors and said that it was "tough to tell" which glass held which whiskey and that you "think" you got it right, I wasn't left confident that you really got it right! For matching colors, the third glass should have also been a Glencairn. Using a different style of glass - a rocks glass here - makes matching colors even more difficult than if the glasses had all been the same style of glass. But this whole color-matching issue could have been avoided if you'd have put masking tape on the bottom of each Glencairn with the letters "A" and "B" written on the tape and then had your daughter (after she poured the glasses) write down on a sheet of paper, "A is Smoke Wagon, B is Taylor." When you're ready to do the reveal you look at that sheet of paper as an "answer key." 2. That bottle of Taylor has been open 2 1/2 years and was down to 5% full. Because of this, what whiskey that is left in the bottle will taste very different from what Taylor normally tastes like which means that -- even if you got the color matching correct -- the end result of the blind is invalid in determining if Taylor is better than Smoke Wagon or vice versa. 3. You thinking about which Glencairn holds which whiskey while you were doing the tasting. You might've heard of a guy named Fred Minnick. He's a professional whiskey taster and has written books on whiskey. He has said that, while you're tasting the whiskeys during the blind, it's a mistake to think about what whiskey might be in a glass because it can affect your evaluation and, as a consequence, lead to less valid results for the blind. 4. Not having a palate cleanser handy.

Thanks for the feedback. This was the first time I’ve ever done a blind in my bourbcast. In one last year I had someone else more experienced than me administer a double blind, but this was my first one for myself. I’ll use your notes if I ever do it again. BTW, The Smokewagon small batch is a superior pour.
