The "Poor People's Advocate" Joel Z. Williams teaches an average person how to construct a Co2 gas generating bedbug lure and trap for under $15 dollars.
Hello Mr Williams, please dont pay attention to the negativity some people are spewing out of their mouth...you made an awesome video..and FINALLY gave me an answer to sleep again. God bless
I love you Joel! I'm in the last stages of a bed bug infestation. Looks like most of the sexually adult bed bugs are dead. So I created this trap just to make sure that the bed bugs come out whenever. After just 24 hours I caught a small one. Every caught bug is valuable to reduce the infestation! Huge thanks Joel!!
my mom has got bed bugs and in the apartment she lives in, they have sprayed 3 times already. still she has bugs. im going to be trying all of your suggestions. you sir, are a Godsend to us poor people. May God bless you.
angel45427 Hey if you want them to stop biting you while you exterminate them here is what you do. Using vaseline you coat every corner in your house with a thin coating of vaseline. Bed bugs can crawl into small crevices because they are flat and have tiny stupid little legs. So you use their own weapon against them. Neither baby or adult bastards can get across and if they try they get stuck. some manage to get thru but they become sticky and start to pick up debri as they drag their sorry little ass around only to find a second layer. I dont take chances so I always double tap. Raid kills the bastards but it dissipates in the air. But spray the Vaseline perimeter and it now stays in there. Now you have created an impregnable fortress. I would post a video but unfortunatelly I cannot find a live one to demonstrate. I have killed them all...
I've made two traps, One last night and one just about an hour ago. I have pics but don't know how to post them here. Anyway no bugs yet. My first trap has moisture in the tubing, Mr Williams will that affect anything? I used 2 litre pepsi jugs I put paper sacks over them to darken them, used tubing that I got from the fish dept at walmart, used the RTV silicone adhesive, used a coffee cup with sports tape on the outside for traction, second trap I used the bottom part of my coffee creamer container and wrapped it with sports tape as well. Per trap I used 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 packet of active yeast with 6 oz of water, then 2 quarts water, 2 cups sugar. Smells yeasty lol. Any advise on posting pics?
im going to try this method...but cant you use a plastic cup and drill a hole on the bottom and put the air tube there? glue it of course to seal real good...
I found using a high sided 4'' plastic container and putting a half full sugar/yeast bottle in the middle of the container, then use a quart size bag to put over the bottle, For the ramps that the bugs will use, '' i used light paper towels, let around 1/4 inch inside the lip of the container than use clothes pins on each side to hold the paper'' don't worry them bug will drop right into the container. No tape or tubing needed just some type 4+ high sided plastic container, 16oz bottle, quart size baggy, thin paper towel, clothes pin, sugar/yeast.
I have seen several diy mouse trap videos using a bucket of water with a ramp and -- the best part -- the trap actually catching many mice. I realize bedbugs are nocturnal. Regardless, is it possible for you to use a low-light or other camera technology to see your CO2 trap in actual use? I would love to see how many of those buggers show up for "dinner".
i need help making this, im using filtered water from the fridg, and then i microwave it until its warm, everything worked fine until i put it in the big jug, all of the fizz died, maybe i should have warmed up the water again, but idk, does tap water work? also im only making it in a small water bottle so do i need to mix it with 2 quarts of water or could i make a smaller portion?
try different locations. My trap had no " hits " in it when I placed it in the first two spots I thought would attract them but once I found a sweet spot ... this trap works like GANGBUSTERS !
I need some help. I've been wanting to make one but I'm just not sure if I've got enough yeast. My packets are only 1/4 oz. So wouldn't I need 4 packets to make the full oz of yeast? I just want to make sure I'm doing very last bit exactly right. Thanks! I really can't wait to try it!
Great job Joel. I have a single question. Lukewarm water is obviously important during the creation process. However, once the generator has started with the trap, the water eventually goes to room temperature after some time. Is this ok until the co2 expires In a couple weeks? Should I try to keep it warmer by any means?
@@JoelZWilliams1 what if there is moisture in the tubing? I saw that you said the tubing needs to be far enough away from the mixture that the gas can formulate and go up through the tubing without getting moisture in it? Is this the solution to that problem. I did everything right, except maybe that...
Mr. Williams, Thank you so much for sharing your videos. I look forward to trying your ideas. My son thinks if we try this, it will invite other bugs from the neighbors since its a constant release of Co2, what is your take on that?
Well I will tell you that the bedbugs use their antennae to also sense warmth. Sure they will come to a Co2 trap if there is no other alternative, but they would prefer a warm mammal over a lure/trap combo anyday. These traps work best for homes where there is a relatively new infestation that is still small in size. And where the hosts go to work or school and are gone from the home for a good portion of the day.
thank you so much for this idea I have spent money on expensive stuff and it does not work I'm going to buy this stuff and I'm also going to order cimexa and I'am going to try your method .thank you
So are these co2 traps only for showing you that you have a infestation Cause I no already I have them? I was just going to order cimexa do I need to do these traps
One person in Canada built 4 large traps and eradicated all of the bedbugs in a duplex house using nothing but the traps. So yes, it can work alone. However, it took him about 8 weeks. I recommend using a combination of mattress encasement, Co2 traps and a good desiccant powder like CimeXa. This will shorten the eradication time tremendously.
I just wanted to thank you for your instructional videos. After going to the dermatologist with what I thought was a weird rash. She said it looks like bites and you may have bed bugs based on the pattern of the bites, but don’t panic. What did I do? I panicked. 😂 my husband bought traps at Hd, they didn’t have good reviews. I’ve watched many of your videos and read how much luck many of your followers had with this method, so I combined the shot glass method with the this video. After wasting 2 packets of yeast it finally worked. Luckily I haven’t seen any signs of bedbugs. I have rodents in my attic for sure which may have caused something else to creep in and bite me at night. Or maybe some sort of allergic reaction. Anyhow. So far I haven’t found any bedbugs. My overlap is alittle more than a quarter of an inch. I used vet tape and taped the overlap with hospital tape to keep it down. Hope that doesn’t keep anything from falling in.
2:28 that pack of yeast is NOT 2.4 ounce , its at most about 0.5 ounce .... (I think you got confused, the whole box of yeast may contain 2.4 ounce but the individual packets inside are probably only about 0.5 ounce each ) I appreciate your helpful instructions but please correct your info with some text on screen so that people will not make a smelly big mess on their kitchen ...
Btw, didn't find a shot glass at Dollar General, but I got a salt and pepper shaker set for ~$1.33. These taper inward, so I guess it would be easier for bug to crawl up, and easier for them to drop inside once over the rim. I wrapped them in black silk tape, which has good traction and darkens the inside of the trap. I'm using a cheap pack of straws (~$1 at Rite Aid) which look and feel delicate, but I managed to get airtight seal from end to end with super glue. Now all I'm missing to put these to the test is a good generator, and that's been my stumbling block.
enkephalin07 . I like what you're doing you're on the right track. These are some excellent Innovations People please pay attention to this guy. Now what are we attempting to do how bad is the infestation? Because depending on that you may need to build 2 3 maybe even 4 traps
How much is 2 cups of sugar in tablespoon? 55 tablespoon? Can you translate this into different unit? I found out that 2 US cup is equal to 32 tablespoon and some says its 28. It would be nice if you gave us an international unit or something. This video can help people outside America. Thank you.
16 tablespoons in a cup in the U.S. so 32 tablespoons in 2 cups is correct. If you need conversion to international, grams or weight, search the internet for a conversion of tablespoons to whatever measure is used in a different country.
Hi Joel Z. Williams! First, this video (and all the others about bed bugs) are really informative and I'm SO grateful for that (since where I live there isn't any information about bed bugs)! :D Secondly, I have a slight suspicion of having bed bugs (or I'm paranoid, which is possible! *lol*), so I decided to try this method of yours to be sure of a presence before taking any drastic steps. And lastly, I'm living in Switzerland, and sadly the measures aren't the same as in the USA (we have grams, milliliters and liters). Do you think it would be possible for you to give me the measures in those for the Williams Method in grams, etc..., please? Oh, and I constructed everything already (except for the lure itself). Would a porcelain bowl be good enough for a Pitfall? Thank you again for all your help to people who need it! :D
hello, steady subscriber of your videos. your information has been indispensable for me and this nightmare so many of us go through. what I'd like to ask suggest you do a demonstration on using roll plastic for covering furniture. doing just one mattress by myself took way too much time trying to measure out the plastic because the roll is hard to cut evenly. you are very insightful and think you are just the person to do this type of video. thank you for your time all suggestions and feedback is appreciated.
It would be really helpful if someone posted a list of the directions and ingredients. I'm kind of doing making one now. If it's worthy, I'll post it here. If not, maybe someone better with such things could do it.
Exterminators must hate these kinds of videos. When they put out their own videos, it's almost always shot in an almost empty hotel room as an example..they then tell you to wash and dry all of your clothing on high heat, put powder in electric outlets, lay plastic down reaching up to the bed, spray shoes and cracks in wooden sills, etc. but if you don't want to go through all of that, their phone number is provided. I've yet to see any exterminators acknowledging this method..but who know, maybe some do..
That is the real process of getting rid of bed bugs actually. It's a lot of work. This trap here won't get rid of all them. It works more as an indicator
I think I had bed bugs, but after steaming my mattress and enveloping it, cleaning the sheets and boobie-traping my bed frame legs, I couldn't trap any. I guess I should be thankful, but I really wanted to have an evidence about the bite I had. I was ready to document everything, but since I don't have any evidence, I can't endorse this method. It probably works, but I was just too quick for the bugs to settle in. Sorry :(
+EvilShredder im trying it today I made 3 huge ones and they are in my room as we speak. Ive bern baffled at how adaptive these little critters are. When I set my room up perfectly (no floor or wall access to my bed) I wasnt bitten in over a year then I thought the problem was gone .. Was I fooled. its been on going for so long like this haha. They leave a trademark poop smear on the walls
Haha very funny! You're right if somebody didn't know you walked in on it they would think the absolute worst. Thanks for pointing that out. that was funny
Everything he said is crucial to the understanding of the trap ... there are videos that are so simplified that they fail to say crucial infos to the traps ... this one is clear and critical in its instructions ..
