its because even though the writers created the characters. the actors are the characters, the characters are apart of them, the actor that plays Ian, knows the ins and outs of Ian he knows how he feels at every moment. its like having a spit personality but with their imagination.
Emma Getsby Well they play the characters and make character choices and if you are playing a character you honestly should know a giant chunk about them
"There is no Fiona on Milkovich home" This is so sad man If the Gallagher's fights are terrible, as we can see, just think about the Milkovich's fights we didn't see yet.
After watching this I got a clearer understanding of the Milkoviches but I also saw how much more the actors know their characters rather than the writers. "He doesn't think he's gay." No. No no no no. Mickey is IN DENIAL of being gay, he's scared of admitting it to himself and to his father and the rest of the neighborhood. There is a difference between not accepting and not thinking. Mandy and Mickey deserved so much better than what the got. The Milkoviches brought a different side to Shameless, it showed how messed up a family can be with a parental figure there verses the Gallaghers which don't have a parental figure and they have a loving family. The Milkoviches were a big, great part of this show and the writers should really consider bringing them back.
I wouldn't call it denial per se. Mickey never really gives any angst about he himself being gay- when other people aren't around he fucking bakes muffins for Ian. It's hilarious. I think he knows he's gay, and he himself would be fine with it, but he's utterly terrified of being outed to a homophobic family which, when you think about it, makes sense. The Milkovich's are not the kind of family that the neighborhood would love. Throw Mickey out of the household and he's a sitting duck for everyone he's punched, shot, or stolen from. So I think it's less a question of gayngst (though it's certainly there) and more one of survival. Being gay gets you dead, so Mickey can't do it. It may not be necessarily true, as the show proves, but that's how he feels and it is justified.
+brandontjy If you havent seen Season 4-5 then spoiler alert! Mickey does come out, he comes out in the Alabi infront of his father. They beat the shit out of each other but his dad ends up in jail. Mickey does open up to his sexuality and accepts himself
which shows how much he truly loves ian...tho he was so terrified of coming out because his father would react as he did and generally it would be a disaster for the milkovich family, he stil did it. He fought his fears and that just for ian
@@paulthomas963 I think you're very right. Mickey didn't actually have a problem with his sexuality internally, he was just afraid of his father finding out. You can really see his acceptance when he makes the comment "Liking what I like don't make me a bitch" in response to Ian's comment about Mickey being a bottom (said at the end of: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kLXJ6IQmZdQ.html)
Paul Thomas I definitely agree! Yes Mandy and Mickey appeared more scary and dangerous than the Gallagher’s but once you got to know them and got into a relationship with them they truly do grow unconditional love for people and just want to be loved in return by that person since they didn’t have that growing up. Mickey loved Ian regardless through everything and never left him where Ian did give up for a while and Mandy loved Lip to death as well but Lip didn’t love her back and was mean to her majority of the time. Even though they were more dangerous than the Gallagher’s they understood the depths of love better than the Gallagher’s did.
They were too young. Lip couldn’t love Mandy the way she needed to be loved. And she could really “see” Lip and wanted the best for him. He couldn’t appreciate her
The Milkoviches are a big and veeryyy important part of the show, we need Mandy and Mickey back, because the show won't be the same without them!! We need Gallavich!!!
I hope they bring the Milkovich kids back. They are a part of the Gallagher family. Even if their relationships with them are a little toxic. Its all love. The writers kind of left them hanging in dirty situations. Bring back the Milkovich kids!
Wow that's not how I see or interpreted Mickey at ALL. Pre sure Noel plays Mickey quite differently to what the writers had in mind. Gotta say, I prefer the Mickey that comes out through acting to the Mickey written into the script.
"Mickey does not think he's gay" Are these people paying attention? They showed a scene from an episode where he literally says "Liking what I like don't make me a bitch" after Ian makes fun of him for bottoming.
Lina B. He compartmentalizes it. When he's alone with Ian then its fine for him to indulge, but once he leaves he kind of feels like that stuff is not truly apart of who he is. Very common.
TheWanderingAesthete Yes, but the point is: Mickey has no actual issues with being gay. He doesn't think he's an abomination or less of a man because of his sexuality. If Terry weren't there to threaten him, he might have come out much sooner. His problem with homosexuality isn't homosexuality in itself, it's the homophobes that will, and have, hurt him for it.
5:36 "Oh, he doesn't think he's gay." - Nancy Pimental on Mickey. Wait, what? That's not the impression I get from this character. He seems like a character who is simply in-denial of his sexuality, mainly because he's scared of his father (and how people in the neighborhood would react). "Doesn't think" and "in-denial" are two completely different things.
Pablo Montanez He was also in-denial in those early seasons. Like I said, "doesn't think" and "in-denial" are two entirely different things. By the 4th season, he was no longer in-denial, but chose to remain in the closet; again, two completely different things.
In denial and doesn't think CAN be the same. For example, If I masturbate to a woman and say "Nah, I'm not lesbian" that means I'm in denial and it also means I don't think I'm lesbian.
Paul Thomas Well deep in his heart he has always known. But if someone had asked him his sexuality, he most definitely would not think he’s gay. Remember he was still having sex with women in the early seasons. He’d probably believe that “things happen” but not that he’s gay. In Mickey’s mind, being gay meant being a stereotype: weak, effeminate, dainty. He always used gay slurs for that reason to classify “lesser” men than himself. Considering himself gay took a lot of time not only because of what the world would think, but also what he’d think of himself.
Etan: "you wanna keep writing those storys" "they're such a joy to write" Mike: "you see matierial that those actors really nail and you wanna continue to do that" *Proceeds to write them off the show* Me: wHaT HaPpeNed
3:26 Emma Greenwell has such a cute smile. They need to bring Mandy back with a more satisfying conclusion, as well as her brother, for also another more satisfying conclusion.
The milkoviches gave this show a sense of community of where they lived, plus their depth of character was amazing. I hope they bring them back in season 8. Stamp down the gentrification and let them run free.
Mickey and Ian don't exactly have a relationship in the U.K version, from what I know, they fuck like once, and then Ian dates his half brother(without knowing its his half brother), some other people, and a girl
Mandy and Mickey are my favourite characters from the show, and oh my god, they tug at my heartstrings every time they appear on screen. I just want them to get a happy ending.
Aw Mandy really LOVED Lip, the way she looks at him she was just waiting for him to finally feel the same way back but unfortunately he never loved her like that. He for some reason was just so crazy for Karen even though she never really loved him. It sucks but the heart wants what it wants and he wanted Karen until Mandy ran her over..he chosed Karen over Mandy countless of times, Mandy was pretty much just the rebound bc he couldn't have Karen. Once Mandy accepted that Lip was never going to love her like she craved and deserved she finally let everything go including him and left every thing behind. That poor girl only wanted what was best for Lip.
Faeries_Xylia 923 actually, the messed up part was that before Karen got ran over, Lip told Karen it was officially over and that she was bad for him. That is what triggered Karen to call Mandy and taunt her to be spiteful. Which triggered Mandy to run her over lol! So if Mandy did not run over Karen he was actually leaning towards choosing Mandy.
Stacey G Yeah it only Mandy knew what went down and that he told Karen it was over bc he wanted to give them two a chance she wouldn’t have felt insecure and threatened and tried killing her off. Mandy originally won but Karen wasn’t going to just walk away without a fight, she was use to Lip being hers and she wasn’t going to just let Mandy replace her. I think once Lip found out that Mandy went psycho it ruined her chances with Lip. I hated how Fiona was always picking on Mandy calling her a skank but never talked about Karen being a skank and she was the one who was hurting Lip the entire time. I think that Mandy and Mickey understood the depths of love that the Gallagher’s were Incapable of.
Im reading all these comments now in Feb 2020 and cant believe how long this show is on.Its sad it will soon be coming to an end soon.We all watched these actors grow up and change so much.No matter how normal our lives are we all can relate to something one of these families or characters go through in life maybe not as intense but somethings.
Ahh man, I was so goddamn mad when Lip didn't say I love you back to Mandy. I don't think I've ever wanted a TV show relationship to exist more than theirs.
When the writer said 'they have to survive' and they showed that scene when terry walked in on mickey and ian,,, fuck that scene never leaves my mind, its so traumatizing
Can I just say I was Today Years Old when I heard "Mandy's" voice as a (British accent, is it)?!?!! Wow! Makes me love her even more. I love her so much and wish her and Lip could be together. Maybe she'll return as well since they're bringing Mickey back????? 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
At the end when he said that a show with just the Milkovich would be too dark I disagree because Mickey is the funniest character I ever seen he has the best one liners I think Noel does a great job of playing Mickey
This show wouldn’t be the same without the milkovichs they seriously complement the Gallagher’s. love how if your in the inner circle of the milkovichs they will fight tooth and nail both for you and to be with you 🥰 milkovich= loyally protective 🥰
God damn do I love the Milkovich's, lol. I only recently began watching Shameless like 2 weeks ago on Netflix and as soon sec I finished the first episode I was hooked and ended up binge watching all 8 seasons in the span of about a week and a half, and at first I couldn't fucking stand the Milkovich clan, but by like season 3 they were my favorite part of the damn show. I think it was once Terry was back in prison for good after Mickey finally stood up to him and came out that I really started to appreciate how complex and ground breaking the Mickey character was. There have always been the white trask, lowlife criminal characters in T.V. shows and movies, but for it to turn out that badass crazy Mickey is gay and in love with Ian was crazy. When it was first shown to the audience that they were having sex with one another my mind was blown because up until that point there was zero indication that Mickey was gay, and whenever he was onscreen he was either looking for Ian to hurt him or vandalizing the mini Mart or beating on another Gallagher, so when Ian went in his room and they started kissing I couldn't believe it. The show runners did an excellent job of unveiling that bomb, having Mickey hunt down Ian for weeks and then have them together. Mandy is one of the lowkey sexiest women in TV imo, there is something about that girl that drives me crazy, lol. She has her moments where she seems like a total cunt, and even full on psychopath moments, but I always thought Karen was a rude fucking cunt and I always hated her so when Mandy ran her over I almost cheered, lol. All in all I have to say that the Milkovich siblings might be my favorite TV characters ever.
