Best 9mm Revolvers 2024 - New #1 Will Change Your Mind!
9mm revolvers haven't been seen as something of an anomaly for a long time, but slowly, steadily, they are gaining more mainstream acceptance and consumer demand is rising. Many major manufacturers have responded with models suitable for any shooting activity. I'll be telling you about 6 of the best in this video. Check out the video, then come back around and let me know what you think about necessity of moon clips in these guns down in the comments: are you okay with them as a component you have to have for functionality, or would you prefer a dedicated extractor system like the one found on the Charter Arms Pit Bull we covered?

I've had 9 mil revolvers for years, and glad to see the field increase. Makes sense as this is a caliber the industry is focused on currently.

Moon clips all the way, just picked up a Taurus 905. Have missed my 686 Super 38 since I had a weak moment and sold it.

Get yourself a Ruger Gp100 or Sp for the small frame. Both excellent

I skipped the GP when shopping for something in .357 Mag. The stores I browsed had GP100s in .44 SPCL as that is what Lipseys was moving at the time. One store did have a Security Six in .357 that had just been traded in. It was all original with original red ramped front sight and adjustable rear sights. Also original black rubber grips with silver Ruger Medallions. Unknown to the store, it had had a trigger job at some point in the past. I took it to the range and shot full load .357s for a couple hours with absolutely no hand discomfort. Shooting in DA I could shoot 3/4 inch groups at 15 yards repeatedly. In SA I could shrink it to half inch. Bottom line, I was very happy with that used gun purchase. I’ve only bought one other used handgun - a Sig P229 in .357 Sig. I called Ruger Customer Service and based on the serial number it was produced in 1986 which puts it near the end of the production line of Security Sixes before they moved to the GP production. To complement that Six, I bought a brand new snub nosed SP101 in .357 Mag. I carry it loaded with .38 +P and a speed loader ready with .38+Ps. I do have a second speed loader ready with full house .357s but only plan to go to it if the .38s just ain’t getting the job done. I do have another SP101 in .327 Fed Mag but it has the 4.25” barrel. I keep it at the ready for home defense. I keep it loaded with .32 H&R Mag for the wife but have a couple of speed loaders ready with .327 FM. And, while I stay away from auto cartridges in revolvers, the .327 will shoot .32 auto since that particular cartridge is “semi rimmed” as opposed to rimless.

So what was the gun in the thumbnail, that attracted us to the video, it was in the six mentioned.

Moon clips or no moon clips? My vote is moon clips every time. First, the most common complaint of bent clips causing malfunctions is a holdover from WW2. They used half-moon clips made from soft steel, and there were, indeed, occasional bent clips - not good. Nowadays, however, moon clips are either full moon or couplets. Plus, they are spring steel. They are extremely durable, but best of all, they afford the absolute FASTEST revolver reload around. As for the spring studs on the ejection star that non-moon clip guns use, yes, they work and work well for single loading, but they greatly interfere with rapid reloads from a speedloader. Definitely, full moon clips.

Moon clips are wonderful for speed under a timer for reloading . However shooting hundreds of rounds then taking them apart is a pain. I believe if your accuracy is still an issue dont bother with moon clips as they will make shooting a couple hundred rounds take much more time . I have a 686 with moon clips i most often will load one at a time for easy range time that isnt possible in 9mm revolvers. I can also load 1 at a time with 45 acp by using 45 auto rim ammo

I was expecting to see at least a 6 rounder in the bunch. I have an old Charter Arms Undercover in 38sp. It’s a good gun. Never had a hiccup. Definitely a close up defensive gun.

Do you think moon clips are a hassle or a game-changer?
@davefinfrock3324
@davefinfrock3324 Месяц назад
Depends what you want. They're fast to reload, but they also require a heavier action because of the clip. Also, people keep asking for these and then no one buys them when they're in production. That's the history of 9mm revolvers and why they're usually out of production. The 9mm Federal was a good idea, but, again, no one bought any. What's old is new again--and it still won't sell. Again.

@@davefinfrock3324 I’d like one along the lines of the 340 pd. 9mm ammo is cheaper than 380 or 357 with near the same performance I just can’t justify the cost of , Smith & Wesson® and Jerry Miculek 327 lol

The 9 mm is fine, for a semiautomatic pistol. It loses performance in a revolver. I would buy a 357, and if I decided to step it down, I would use a plus p fbi load.

No you shouldn't . 380 is smaller than 9mm . stick with the caliber the firearm calls for . don't be a statistic. the case could expand too much and split and you'll get a face full of hot gasses . and maybe brass .
@howardwmoore
@howardwmoore Месяц назад
@@bradbrown5659 380 overseas is referred to as a 9mm Kurz. A 9mm is 9x19 mm a 380 is a 9x17 normally on semi autos they head space off the case mouth I do believe that the moon clip would preclude this so in case of an emergency you might be able to fire a 380 in it but I don’t know why my defensive 380 ammo is more expensive than my 9mm

The Charter Arms Pit Bull is garbage. Do not buy that revolver. The cylinder is not aligned and will miss fire 60% of the time. Not a good conceal carry fire arm.
