We spent a lot of time looking for the best flat tow setup for our Wrangler JL Rubicon. We ended up with an LOD Signature bumper, the mopar flat tow harness and invisibrake as the best components to get the job done (with a Roadmaster tow bar). We are pulling our Wrangler with a 2015 Entegra Cornerstone, and we can't even tell it is back there!
Do you flat tow your Wrangler JL behind your motorhome? If you do, you will need to have this harness (or similar) installed so your Jeep brake and tail lights can be easily connected to your motorhome - The Mopar Wrangler JL harness 82215382AB is what you need to do this. Thanks for producing this video!!! I found it very helpful given the IKEA-like instructions that came with the kit. I did notice that at 31:10 into the video you didn't lock the red clip in the tail light harness. I hope you went back later it locked it as you said you weren't done yet.

Finished Cool Tech on JL yesterday, install went smooth, you have to be sure which orange-white wire you choose. Having switch is preferred by me, and cost of Cool Tech about half. But there is more than 1 way to skin a cat, so The Mopar kit seems like a good one.

I just installed this in my 2019 Rubicon Unlimited. I just wanted people to know that Jeep doesn’t instruct you to install the wiring harness in this manor. Jeep recommends to install the harness on the exterior of the Jeep. In other words you do not need to remove the top and any interior panels other than the rear lights access cover. This is an alternative way to install it but a lot more work. This video is very nice guidance. Thanks BRA!

Yes I was curious was it passes thru the interior but doesn’t need to connect to anything. We run circuits / harnesses that need to go from back to front along the passenger side frame rail with the factory harness. It ends up right next to battery when it comes up with the factory wiring as well.

Thanks for the video. Did you have to take the top off ro was it done for convenience and to film easier? I think that you mentioned that you also installed a Mopar harness to add backup lights. Did you make a video for it and have the part number for that harness?

Thank you for sharing, I did go ahead and purchase this harness, though it will be ok to stay Mopar for this electric install, I am going to have the dealership install, but I am having the invisible braking system by an RV dedicated shop, since they are doing the Maximum 3 recovery loops and tow bar, I am assuming this is a good decision, but one question is, the RV shop told me I will need a power line from the RV to trickle charge the Jeep, doesn’t the road master invisible brake set up for this already? And also I saw a 7 point connector in the package, is that for connecting the RV to the Jeep wrangler JL, IS THERE ANYTHING I should know to tell the RV shop or the dealer installers? Just trying to avoid confusion, which is probably going to come up, or not! Your answer is appreciated. Thank you!

@BigRoadAdventure I too am installing this but want to use a standard 6 pin connector rather than the included Mopar connector cable to the RV. Did you make a video of wiring that up? I don’t see a diagram showing what each of the wires in the Mopar harness does, where did you happen to find that?

You could go from underneath and avoid the firewall altogether. That’s what they recommend but I didn’t want the harness exposed in the bottom.

@@BigRoadAdventure The only problem with aftermarket is, if it will mess with the blind spot sonar. That's why I am waiting for my Mopar one to come.

First off thank you for the help. It took a while but I was able to get it installed. I was wondering. From the plug on the bumper, there was a blue wire but it came taped off at the other end did you connect it to anything? Not sure why there would be an extra wire.

Glad it was helpful! I have my blue wire capped off. If I remember correctly that would have been the line for my Invisibrake but I ran a new wire from the driver side for that.

I had the dealer install this rv tow harness on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler last year. Worked fine until last month. Now while flat towing the jeep, no turn signal, brake lights or running lights working on jeep. I've put a multimeter on all connections including the Mopar fuse box and with rv running, signals on, the fuses show power going into the Jeep tow harness just fine. So where do you think my problem is at? Why no working lights while towing?

Curt makes a really nice kit that achieves the exact thing that the Mopar does for $75. You also don’t have to disassemble half the jeep to install it. I’m curious why you use this one instead of this kit.

Thanks for the vid... I'd pull my hair out without your help... Maybe you can answer a question regarding wire colors. I'm also going to change the plug. But, the wires at the end of the cable (where we will attach our own plug) are not color coded in the industry standard i.e. Yellow- left turn/stop, Green- right turn/stop, Brown-running. Do you recall which wire power which function? I also had heard this harness needs a dedicated 12v power to function?? Also, what is the white with gray strip and blue wire at the plug end for? Thanks Again...

Just an FYI - Unless you separate the two wires going to the negative battery terminal, your vehicle will remain energized due to the aux battery wiring. You should have pulled the two wires apart and kept them separate with a rag. Maybe you realize this later in the video, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

Thank you for the video. Do you have blind spot sonar on your Rubicon, or does anyone else? That's the only thing that concerns me by installing it myself. I have read, if not done right it cancels it out. Also I would recommend the Mopar since the aftermarket ones say it will mess with the JLU blind spot sonar and I didn't want that. Thanks again

I have a JT and they’ve yet to put out a kit for it. I assume I could use this JL kit and just extend the harness where needed. What do you think?

So the dealer has had my jeep for 10 days and finally said the electrical relays blew out somehow. Now they can't find replacement of the relays anywhere.
