This Boss Rush segment is the equivalent of a Filler Arc where all the previous enemies show up as the filler's main antagonists, but since they're dead they're either "illusions", "zombies/revived", "dark clones" or any other excuse you can use.
I realize it's pointless to tell Pat this late in the series of videos, but there's a followup to Real Impact (Beowulf lvl 3 swordmaster) where you mash the circle button, and Dante does a big spinning tornado kick in the air
It's happening for me as well. It popped up in my suggested, and I clicked on it and started watching. Stopped, closed the window, came back to resume later and it's gone. But it's still in my history which is how I got back to it.
For some reason the sidebar told me about this but the subscription page didn't. Oh RU-vid, you're so abjectly awful. And I can't believe they brought Gigapede back for the boss rush.
As much as I love the game, I would say Okami's boss rush right before fighting Yami is notable as being pretty awful. The problem with it is that the game likes to repeat boss fights as is. By the end, you've likely fought some version of Orochi and the spider boss at least 2 to 4 times. Additionally, this is a game known for its insane length, spanning 3 full arcs of story/gameplay. So when you finally get to the Ark and are told you have to refight all of the bosses for possibly the 4th time, it's a bit of a slog. It's thematically appropriate (all the evil came from there and returned) and it's nice to style on bosses that were maybe a bit tougher in the past, but after so many hours you kinda just want to see the finale. Honestly, it's the Orochi fight that really kills the enjoyment since you cannot just style on him. You have to use the specific powers to knock down each head, slowly chipping away at him. It's a fun fight the first time, but then you repeat in for the third arc, and now repeat it again in the Ark itself. And it really kills the pacing of that game.
It's not even a proper boss rush either. You fight alternate/stronger versions of the spiderboss as optional encounters, but they use the same and relatively weaker version you fight near the beginning of the game. And the two bosses you JUST defeated, Lechku and Nechku, are excluded for whatever reason.
The only thing that made the okami boss rush bearable for me was to use one type fully upgraded weapon (double reflectors), their appropriate skill, steel fist sake, and vengeance slips. I was able to somewhat melt all the bosses that way.
You can totally style on Orochi. When he roars, you can double-tap him with sake. You hit him once, and when he reels, you hit him again with it. Instantly drunk and then you wreck it with combos.
The way Pat and Woolie talk about the Doppelganger bossfight makes me think they never realized you can parry his energy attack. It makes the fight a lot better (and quicker)
Are they really not aware of Tornado? You know, the follow up to Rising Dragon that is basically a Shinku Tatsu? One of the coolest moves in the entire game?
Just to let people know, also Pat and Woolie, for the doppelganger fight you can knock back the dark orbs he throws at him to deal significant damage. You have to knock it back 1 - 3 times, depending on difficulty and how much health the boss has, but it can be done. Just gotta time it right. Then you're not stuck ONLY using the lights to deal damage. *EDIT* Also, yes a circuit is all that is necessary. A complete one, you can literally be done with this stage in 3 bosses (Beowulf, Cerberus, and Agni & Rudra).
So fun fact about the name Cerberus. A lot of people have linked the name’s origins to the Greek word for “spotty”. So essentially, the giant three headed dog monster is called “Spot”. (In episode 2 of the LP there was a different person who commented the samething before I did... Almost word for word... I SWEAR THIS WASN’T ON PURPOSE. Anyway go check out that person’s comment and leave that one a like if you found this interesting)
nenshoufox oh yeah you’re totally right about that. Most people tend to compare Hades to Satan, since both are in charge of a afterlife under the rest of the world. But Hades only has only ever done two things that were actually kinda of mean. The first being the kidnapping of Persephone but that actually really worked out for everyone involved. The second being that time Hades imprisoned those two idiots who planned to try and bang his wife, but I mean if it was practically any other god they would’ve suffered a far worst punishment. Plus I mean come on... they literally went to a god’s home with a plan to BANG SAID GOD’S WIFE! How the hell was that supposed to end well?

Damn it woolie I was just sitting here thinking "That horse and carriage could totally be a stand in future parts." And you had to call out the stand arrows and now I can't stop thinking about the abillty and stats thing thing could have. I don't want to be productive and make a fanon of part 9 I want someone else to make it while I lazily sit here.
The horse is actually a reference to the zombie horses in part 2 where Joseph fights them in a COLISEUM. Then time stop from part 3, along with the arrows from part 4 and on.

How do neither of them know about jump cancel? "Leviathan hoollly shiiit" It's one of the most fun fights because you can just destroy the side hearts magically.
I want more games to have prequels about the default weapon that gets casually discarded being super badass. Come to think of it they did the same thing with Cloud's buster sword in ff7.
Even though it's a replay, we would love to see woolie continue this let's play as Virgil, would be super cool for you guys, plus we get to see woolie get all hyped playing as his favorite stoic weeb boy.
The only thing I can think about this far into the playthrough is that they are finished and they never learned that canceling between guns while shooting keeps the style ranking up.
Ah yes, I do remember when we fought Cerberus right in front of Dante's shop. Also, those final hits on Gigapede reflecting the projectiles with Cerberus then with Rebelion were pretty sick.

I know exactly what woolie was referencing when he was talking about the tablet of time from that Spider man episode were a old dude was trying to use a ancient tablet to make himself younger but turns into a baby.
I always kind of liked the heart of Leviathan myself. Then again I'd usually just jump cancel aerial attacks on top of his lungs so I didn't have to deal with the adds except when his core was exposed.
Not sure what Woolie's talking about with that Spider-Man clip. The only thing I can find from the 90s Spidey cartoon is Silvermane turning into a child for an instant, and that kid's actually pretty good.
FYI You only need to do white-green-blue to make a circuit and beat the mission, not a square or anything fancy. Also you can get the super costumes from beating Very Hard and then use that to trivialize BP for no reward. Personally, I always beat A&R at the same time cuz I don't wanna deal with the second form.
Having to do the boss rush in one go is only a Yellow mode and original PS2 thing. In SE you can just continue where you left off when you die. Very merciful...and megaman like
