+Commander_Ninja Like, for real... Only the people of Destiny Island got transported. Everyone else was swallowed up by Darkness; they basically died. And these kids have parents (well...you find out later Kairi only has a Grandma). Riku obviously didn’t care (at the time) and it makes sense because he was so ready to leave. But good boy Sora doesn’t care? It’s basically like Gon from HunterxHunter wanting to be a Hunter and leave his mom, despite being a good boy.
Today's Kingdom Hearts Tid bit: The main reason we don't see King Micky in the first game is because Disney wanted to see if Kingdo Hearts could go on to be a big seller on its own with out having to rely on Mickey Mouse's fame and recognition.
I really like that, it made mickey special in a gandalf/yoda kind of way, normally i never liked him and preffer donald over him but the kingdom hearts version is the best one by far.
They could only use Mickey once, they even suggested to just show him in the middle of a crowd, but instead they decided to use that one moment for something special.
Related fun fact: Sora's KH1 design is just Final Fantasy Mickey clothes. Big yellow shoes, red pants, black top, and even the gloves. In hindsight it seems fairly obvious, but someone had to point it out to me as a kid. He's basically Mickey's reverse Fursona.
@@joinsideke Wish you hadn't mentioned Fursonas, but because you did, ANOTHER related fun fact: originally, Sora was designed to be some kind of hybrid between a teenage boy and a lion, wielding a chainsaw-like sword. This was later changed to draw more inspiration from Mickey's design. There is totally artwork for it done by Nomura himself out there if you want to check it out.
When I first saw the kingdom hearts game cover I hated it because the main characters was just a boy with Mickey clothes, when I saw kh 2 game cover I thought "okay this might be cool now".
Joinsideke I liked that about D3. Kinda subverts the trope of main character gets all the glory. Like to be fair Riku was the original choice for the keyblade before he dropped the ball in this episode. Sora was always in his shadow and I like that. Beating your Virgil doesn't just make you better than them. Also it reminds me of the ending of xiaolin showdown. Raymundo also gave into the darkness but with help from his friends he went back to the good guys. Not only that but he was chosen as leader of the group over omi. So I like seeing Riku win here because like Raymundo you rarely ever see that happen.

When making a JRPG story, it is important for the main character’s parents to be out of the picture. You may mention them briefly just to acknowledge that they have in fact came from a womb before you do whatever it friggin takes to write them out. Killing them off is an effective measure so that way the hero can focus on more important things like saving their friends.
Since it got talked about, some background about Donald's voice: Donald has only ever been voiced by two people. Clarence Nash voiced him from the 30's until the 80's, then taught the technique to Tony Anselmo, who has been voicing Donald in everything ever since. You can get pretty close with regular mouth sounds, but Anselmo claims it required an enormous amount of practice and keeps most of the particulars to himself. Also worth noting: Any bad Donald Duck impression is still automatically hilarious.
It's okay, Matt. I got my shit rocked by Riku when I first played the game too. Albeit I was also like 9 at the time but I'm sure you'll hit puberty eventually.
@julie martinez I beat Riku is a duel it took a few tries but i beat him. I never beat him in the race. I remember beating Riku boss fight after a few tries. I think I had more trouble with maleficent dragon than any other boss fight in the original game.
When you start the race, you can make Riku fall down on that piece of board without falling down yourself. You just jump right when you step on it. That then causes Riku to run back and climb the ladder giving you a MASSIVE head start. Ever since I learned that I've NEVER lost the race to Riku.
Squall is implied to be named Leon because he's guilty over something that happened when his world fell to the Heartless. As a likely very related side note, his jacket has Rinoa's wings as an emblem on its back, but she's nowhere to be seen in any of the games, so his canonical love interest may have fallen to the Heartless.
Man, I hate that Disney refuses to let Max exist in anything. I would love for him to succeed his father as a party member in this game, or at least get some play at all.

Fun fact: Excalibur is not the sword in the stone; that sword actually has no official name (though sometimes incorrectly called Caliburn). Excalibur is the sword given to Arthur by the Lady of the Lake.
That is easily arguable, with no definitive winner, as you formed your statement here. They are definitely not the same sword, but for the last 600 or 700 years of the 800+ year legend, they both carried the same name. And if you want to be technical with Fun Facts, Excalibur is not actually the original name of the Sword gifted to Arthur by the Maiden - It was Calledvwich in the earliest stories, and later translated into Caliburnus (where Caliburn comes from) and lastly Excalibur.

Terra gets Chaos Ripper after the stuff happens at LoD with Papa -Square- Eraqus. Definitely fitting that Riku would get Soul Eater as his first Keyblade after Kingdom Key cucked him for Sora.
I played KH 1 and 2 (and everything in between) when I was a kid. The story may make no sense, but there aren't many soundtracks that can instantly hit my heart like this one

A person who exists I mean Riku never really stops being edgy he's just good at balancing emo angst and coolness. I think KH2 Riku is edgy but godamn is he badass. The longer hair black coat and 2B blindfold are dope. He unfortunately gets less edgy and more emo after that. I really dislike his new KH3 look. He looks like a hot topic skater hipster.
How complicated can it be? Its not like it involves time travel, alternate dimensions and the main villain being 6-7 gradations of some asshole named Xehanort simultaneously coexisting I think?

Arthurian legend is weird on that. In Robort de Boron's Merlin, the earliest "sword in the stone tale", Excalibur came from the sword in the stone. In the post-Vulgate cycle, Excalibur came from the Lady of the Lake. In Fate canon, they just made the swords separate. Caliburn being the sword from the stone and lost after King Arthur broke the rules of chivalry and Excalibur being the sword from the lady of the lake.

I can't speak for the first thing, having never played Kingdom Hearts, but I think you're dead wrong about that second thing because Cloud looks like an edgy OC in KH (because they mixed his design with Vincent for some reason, apparently) compared to his design literally everywhere else.
