As I watch this, I can’t stop thinking about that picture with David Cage saying “well you see, the androids sit at the back of the bus because...” as Yoko Taro stands behind him, fury in his eyes, about to deck David Cage with a metal chair.
They forgot to cross out "Magic Minority" (the android sympathizer who is a black woman and the black android oracle) and "Innapropriate Slave Analogy AT a Black Person" (that scene where North tells Josh - the black android - that he doesn't deserve freedom and should live as a slave for being a pacifist).
What they weren't expecting was inappropriate analogy FROM a black person. There's a conversation with Rose's son where he says something along the lines of "how our people suffered"
I've never really watched TBFP, but I just came here to find that "back of the bus" moment because I saw it clipped somewhere else. Did something happen between them since this playthrough?
I think that's just from a scene if Markus dies during the violence route when he has a gun. But Cage inadvertently creating a "plant the evidence" scenario because of an error is very funny and on brand.
Never forget that the big twist behind everything was that deviancy was manufactured because reasons, meaning that there's no real meaning behind the questions that the characters had. And if you haven't played and see this, I just saved you $60 or however much it is.
The reasons were so that the android company that made the deviants wanted to sell their "upgraded" models for a higher price, which Kamski must be REALLY FUCKING DUMB to think that would work

That was the worst twist in a David Cage game: worse than "Your trapped in a video game", worse than Zombie Dick, worse than Scott Shelby, worse than Dead Twin.
Vitor Lehmkuhl Conner was only good literally because he said no to Cages bullshit and got a career out of it to boot. If he played along the game would be genuinely irredeemable
An awful lot of of good, talented people worked on this game. Unfortunately it's all for naught because the gravity well from the "Cage Hole" is too strong and sucked it all up.
Just finishing up my watch/rewatch of the entire thing before finally moving on to their solo channels. There were a lot of lps, especially in that last year, that I took for granted and skipped thinking they'd still be doing stuff together... But at least we still have chewie and fuckface in the morning.
"It was the android. The android killed him." Most people think androids are incapable of hurting people, it would be like you came upon a murder scene after being called by an Amazon Alexa and the dude points and says Alexa killed him so you shoot the Alexa, it makes no sense.
Don't want to be in the position of defending this POS game but an android had recently shot and killed several police officers after murdering it's owner. Makes perfect sense to me.
And just to be clear since as you say androids are seen as mere appliances then the officer was simply taking the precaution of deactivating a potentially dangerous nic-nak.
Let's see, the android placed the police call.. said there was an intruder in the house. Ok, let's just take the word of this scruffy drug addict, seems legit
You know what else don't make sense to me? If the androids are only $899 future bucks, why would people spend $29.99 to fuck one for 30 minutes? If druggy daddy could afford at least three then an average person would have no problem just buying one nice model.

This game could be great if it was just Hank and Connor, AND, instead of using the 60s black rights movement as a deeply flawed metaphor for fucking androids, the theme of the game could more be about the value and nature of free will, and questioning following the rules, even if the rules are laws.
I did the same thing and checked who made this RIGHT AWAY and that's awesome that Solidus made this for them, also a little strange for them, the last compilation they released was for Until Dawn i think, but still, considering the amount of compilations hes done for these guys, them (I'm assuming) asking him to do this for Them is really cool, it at least tells us that they're aware of the compilations, I mean this and them just mentioning them before 😂😂
You have no idea how mad I still am at the stupid fucking plottwist of Alice being an android. That came out of nowhere, if there were clues, then they were subtle as fuck which is the worst way to do a plottwist. And as they said, it completely invalidates Kara's Story. Also how the fuck did nobody notice that? It also means that Todd purposefully removed the LED to pass her off as a real human child. And speaking of which, why the fuck are those LEDs so easily removable in the first place? I get that they are there for regulation reasons so that you can tell them apart from real humans, but if you can just remove them without the android malfunctioning, then it's a shit anti imposter measure. And why don't ALL deviants just do that, why did only SOME deviants remove their LEDs?

This game is the equivalent of a writing Newton's cradle. One minute I'm thinking "wow Hank is actually a pretty well developed character with deep reasons for his bigotry" and then the next it's "WhAt IF LEsbIAn RoBOtS?!?!!?!"

I think it's brought up in a magazine or police report the guys skipped, but yeah the writers literally never do anything with that piece of lore. And it ultimately never mattered because Kara and Markus showed that they can just rip out their LEDs anyway.
Ah, taking a look back on the good old Race War. Good times were had by all, human and android alike. No half-assed political allegories or misappropriated civil rights imagery in this video game. No sir, not at all
1:32:54 the sad part is how many of those are in the story that they missed. both Amanda the vr god and that robot with half her head missing fit Magic Minority. hank getting hosed off is a shower scene. and maybe drowning. the concentration camps are definitely a Racial Stereotype Zone. Jericho is a self-imposed ghetto. the scene at the bus terminal where the Black Kid goes "i couldn't understand your pain" is the most innappropriate slavery analogy, though it was From the black person so i guess its a half cross. depending on how you play it, Connor can totally steamroll Markus' motivations and kill Kara for funsies.
I think one of the most correct things Pat ever said was at the end of this LP where he said more or less "Quantic Dream could put out a real show stopper without David Cage." Basically everything bad in Detroit Become Human circles back to that man. This game looks incredible, has great visual direction, great music, great acting, and actually does innovate a lot on the narrative game style. There are a lot of pretty different outcomes to get. Connor and Hank are wonderful. It's just David's poor writing really holding them back.
Don't care that I already watched this LP the first time. Don't care that I already watched 2nd Gig. Don't care that I already watched two compliation vids for this LP for each of those previous runs respectively. I'm watching this whole goddamn thing right now because *this LP was so fuckin great.* Truly the best it's ever been.
I would love to see a final Detroit let's play from them, each of them getting their, "ideal" finish. Matt can have Kara survive while having the kid die, Pat can become friends with Hank, and Woolie can complete the black uprising.

I just realized than in 2nd gig, when Connor and Marcus have the showdown and have to fight for the gun, Woolie and Pat should have tossed the controller and fight for it IRL.

10:58 - Watching this now after seeing the whole series, I interpreted this as "wino failsafe" and thought that was a really specific scene to predict. 35:08 - They mention in one of the magazines how when androids used to not have those LEDs but then a law was passed that androids had to be clearly marked. So it actually makes perfect sense that that component can just be popped off because it was tacked onto the design after production was in full swing.
Yeah I remembered while watching this, and that the alternative is playing as North and she's even worse a character than Markus. Well at least you can fully delete Kara and Alice from the experience.
oh my god it took me this long to realise that the reason all of the cars didn't slow down for the road crossing scene at 41:30 was because they are self-driving cars, and they're prioritising the human passengers over the androids crossing the road.
