That's literally me when play mortal kombat. I'm terrible at games. The only things I can ever do is pulling some kind of impossible bullshit that I'll never replicate.
MasterJayShay Yeah, after that you usually don't even have to kill them. They just kinda give up and cry. Thank god I found out about this trick too, it's much easier than getting footage of the enemy's parents fucking and carrying around a crt to show it to them, but the results were similar.
So, somehow in his death induced fever dream, Vergil managed to save and then proceed to break the heart of his ghost mother despite everything and everyone else being some weird fake version born from being super salty at losing? Normally the devil may cry series isn't known for logical decisions but usually they make sense in universe.
I mean, they said it was real. But was there actually any evidence that this was real and not some weird illusion of whatever this not-limbo(since they said limbo was destroyed) place is
@@OldSpaghettifactory89 Like the area is specifically hell, it's using the same map and everything, but Hell was NEVER shown to work on a metaphysical level like Limbo was, sooo..........
Shattering the myth that all videogame stories are nothing but mere trite compared to film, theatre and literature! Also Gene Simmons' kid did the same (ripping off Bleach) and it worked wonders for him
For those wondering the guy that designed the "Hollow Virgil" fight claimed he had never seen or heard of Bleach and claimed instead that he was referencing "The Hollow Men" a poem by T.S Eliot which is where Dantes Inferno got a lot of inspiration, so no they supposedly didn't ripoff Bleach (at least intentionally) they ripped off Dantes Inferno. Edit: The designer's name is Rogerio Silva and from what I can tell he did mean the Dantes Inferno game and not the Divine Comedy.
I see, so the ancient holy sniper rifle only held Vergil back, despite it's immense power. His true power lied within the soles of his feet, a kick that can instantly stop the hearts of even the strongest of devils, angels, and hybrids (not saying nephilim)
Dmc 3 vergil: my sincerest apologies BROTHER but i was so eager to see you i couldn't concentrate on the preparations for the bash. Dmc vorgil: Donte nii chan you need to be serious about this, we have to stop mondus and save man kind so that u can take his place.
mauro banegas As of DMCV we now know Vergil is a poetry and literature buff. So we have educated admirer of the arts, with a suave and fun loving charisma, versus a guy who stops by 4chan now and then and claims to be the head of anonymous. Brilliant work, 10/10
Nah nah, according to the guy that made the fight he wasn't ripping off Bleach as he had no idea what that was, instead he was ripping off the pinnacle of art that is the game Dantes Inferno.
@@Walmbat Ah there's more, the guy claimed that they actually took inspiration from the thing that inspired Dantes Inferno, so they also ripped off the thing the ripoff ripped off.
Honestly it's inconsistent for both because: Why didn't he teleport out of that fall from the mansion window, and why doesn't he move at all during the plane fight?
Vergin awakened to power in this alternate dimension because Donte didn't join his Nephilim fan club. He joins the humans fanclub instead because it has more wiccan chicks and less sniping babies.
@@MantraMan2077 What I wanna know is how Kubo didn't sue. I mean, Dark Souls 2 couldn't get away with porcelain masks, but Tameme and Friends can just totally plagiarize Bleach with no consequences.
One thing I like about this DLC is that the apparitions of Dante and Kat haven’t really twisted any of the events that happened. Vergil is just so narcissistic and full of himself that he can’t fathom the idea that he wasn’t doing the right thing. Also, does Vergil not get to fight the Dreamrunners?!
So Vergin kills a figment of his own imagination that somehow gives him DINO's real pendant, or real enough to fool their own mother who gave it to DINO?
Yeah, that way you can have the melodramatic scene you want, and not have to worry about what comes before, or after, or the characters, or logic. What the hell is wrong with Tameem Antoniades? In interviews he seems to have a general understanding of what humans are supposed to sound like when they talk. Does he just get blackout drunk every day at work, or what?
@@trickster721 Considering Drakengard and NieR's creator gets fall-down piss-yourself drunk before he starts writing his games, Tameem must've been on something way stronger than booze if that guy manages to be more coherent than him.
You know what could have been a more interesting descent into darkness, and would have made more sense for this Vergil? Don't have him be corrupted, just have him be stubborn. He wanted to take over, simultaneously rule and protect humanity, because he thinks humans are helpless like children. Rather than becoming evil because he feels that Dante betrayed him, make him blinded by his convictions, that he must do the right thing and rule humanity, even if that means becoming stronger than Dante and killing him. This probably would have worked better for the pacing, since it's a short DLC, instead of everyone yelling at Vergil for being a dick and him either not responding or basically just saying "no", they tell him he's evil, and he argues that what he does is for the greater good. This is basically what happened at the end of the main game, Vergil said he wanted to take over, and Dante and Kat were like "what the fuck? No, that's evil", and a fight ensued due to those opposing view points. It would've made more sense if this DLC's story just elaborated on that, but instead Vergil just gets angry and starts yelling "I NEED POWER!"
It's also because the fake Dante and Kat, that are supposed to be in his mind and his perceptions, are not only saying things that the real ones never said, but their doesn't seem to be much foundation for them to say these things. If this game got a sequel, a big part of Vergil's motivation is equivalent to someone saying "I'm mad at you because you were a dick to me in my dream last night". Pat and Woolie already pointed out that Vergil pulled his sword on Dante first, Dante didn't want to fight his brother, he wanted to resolve things, then Kat stopped Dante from going too far and killing Vergil, so there is no reason for him to believe the two of them hate him like they do in this hell mindscape. Like I said, if they just made it that Vergil is stubborn in his decision, and thinks Dante is misguided, then he believes that Dante's foolish way of thinking will jeopardize the entire human race, so he has to become stronger and kill Dante to save and rule the human world.
You're not wrong but I kinda like how this story is like a fucked up Persona 4 dungeon. I already wrote a comment about it so I'll just paste it below: and to be fair Vergil does try to plea his case to Kat until she starts poking at his insecurities and attacking him. "I'll be honest I kinda unironically love how this story is basically a persona 4 dungeon gone HORRIBLY WRONG. In P4 a preson is trapped in their dungeon (a manifestation of their faults/repressed feelings) until the party comes to help them accept their shadow (the personification of said faults/feelings) and learn to be a better person. Except no one comes to help Vergil. He doesn't learn or accept anything and just brute forces his way out. this results in him refusing to admit he's wrong and doubling down super hard into villainy."
@@spartandumpster1158 I honesty think the Imprisoner (is that a word?) did something to the fake Kat considering when Vergil catches up it just drops her and leaves. not sure about Dante though; might have something to do with Vergil's obvious inferiority complex.
@@jakereese1216 I don't see why Tommy's idea wouldn't work better with the concept of a P4 dungeon gone wrong. Fake Donte and Kat could have pointed out flaws and hangups, only for Vergil to deny anything about his outlook needs to change. He encounters a cackling caricature of himself as a tyrant for a "shadow," and kills it through brute force instead (with the scene framing how through doing this, Vergil is acting just as his fake claims he does). Instead of accepting his flaws or growing as a person, the DLC could have ended on an actual Donte fight, where Donte (cognitive or real) offers a truce and Vergil rejects it out of hand. If the scene with his mother is still included, have it be nearer the end, and have Vergil be cold and declarative instead of sadistic. If they want to give Vergil a Kylo Ren inferiority complex hissy fit somewhere along the way (either him doing it, or a shadow of himself doing it), that'd still work fine.
I was reading your comment and was reminded of Gilver from the first Devil May Cry novel. (Literally just move the first 3 letters to behind the last 3.)
HYPETAUR THE HYPE CACTUAR! That kinda makes it even more insulting. Why would you call back to the first fight with Vergil if you're not even gonna put in an actual fight? It's already shit, by comparison or not, why make the comparison all the more obvious?
So let's see here Devil May Cry1:Trish cries after figuring out that Dante cares about her even though she's a Devil Devil May Cry2:Red head girl cries after finding out she was created by the villian Devil May Cry3:Dante cries after losing his twin brother to darkness Devil May Cry4:Nero cries after losing Kyrie to the Saviour Dmc Devil may cry:Lillith cries after heroes snipe her baby Theory DMCV: Vergil will cry because he can never live up to DADDY'S POWER!
Star Wolf64 I'm a hardcore vergil fan and i think seeing vergil cry in 5 could be really beautiful if done in a certain light. Actually I think him crying because him realizing he'll never be as powerful as he'd like would be a good reason, and then having to trust Nero to this as he doesnt have long to live
"Hey, where's Dante?" "He's dead." "How did he die?" "I killed him." "Why would you do that?" "Because I was always second best!" "But we gave you power and love!" SUCH GOOD EFFING DIALOGUE!!! I can really feel the humanity here. You know, like that time a family member dies and you're just like "What, why would you kill him?" instead of just getting pissed at the actual murderer who murdered someone you love. Truly the best entry in the series, lol!

@@ZyroShadowPony yes, which is why i want them to play that instead of DMC 2, and they already mentioned they'll give character action a rest so it'd be a nice palate cleanser
I've heard Dante wasn't very good in Nocturne though cuz you can't fuse him so he can't inherit skills and thus can't have a ridonkulously broken moveset. He's merely 'good'.
Wait, so if the clearly fake Dante had a necklace but the real "muther..." was there, wouldn't she be able to tell that piece of shit was imaginary garbage with no real power whatsoever.
At this point I stopped being amused by the bad writing and just got angry. Imagine being the co-founder of a company, insisting that you have to write everything yourself because you're such a creative genius or whatever, and then being this stupid and lazy about it.
@@MarlonMacielBrando It's like a Suffering but lamer, or one of the bigger demons in general. Either way, it's not as good. I actually like Darksiders a lot; the point of the comparison in this case is that a final boss from DmC can't even really match up to a regular enemy from a contemporary title, let alone the franchise it's supposed to be rebooting.
It's a good point tho. Why is it when Donte has a demon weapon on he don't get hurt by the demons. Same for the "angelic" demons. And why do Demons use the Angel energy? Whhhhhhy?
You could argue that since the demon/angel weapons are just pure energy taking a physical form, they might operate on Pokémon rules, with the weapons doing less damage against enemies of the same origin.
So one really minor thing that keeps getting to me is how Vergil holds the sheath for Yamato. In all the other DMCs, he holds it close to his hips, arm parallel to the body and elbow bent. Even running, he doesn't move his left arm as much as his right. He always keeps Yamato close at hand, ready to draw. In DmC:DMC, except in his idle pose, he's either holding the sheath limply, or he throws it as far away from his body as possible, arm straight out and perpendicular to his body. Even if you don't know a thing about iaido (and I sure don't), you can tell this is a sloppy, clumsy way to hold it. It's a really small detail, but it's enough to give you the sense that DmC:DMC Vergil is a rank amateur with the Yamato and DMC Vergil has unquestionably mastered it.
why is this part not labeled final!? why!? the game is oveeeeeer! this cannot continue thiscannotcontinuethiscannotcontinuethiscannotcontinuethiscannot~
I do not actually know anything about DmC. Is there an actual reason it's not labeled final? (I don't care about spoilers, but others might, so heads-up.)
@@MrPsychojmnf because we need a "Power trip" level that completely fails at being a power trip and makes enemies, even harder and annoying and a reused boss fight with the Vagina face monster that was attacking his mother
Is this a bleach Reference? I mean, It looks like Hueco Mundo... And he's fighting Hollow Vergil... A Bleach White Version of him with all of his moves and evil.... Just like a certain Strawberry and his Hollow Strawberry...
If you ask the guy that wrote the DLC and more or less designed the fight he will get angry at you and claim he had no idea what Bleach was when he made it, instead he claims it's a reference to the poem that inspired the story of Dantes Inferno, and I mean the game not the Divine comedy.
If you guys couldn't notice, the final boss of Vergil's Downfall pays homage (Read: Unashamedly rips off) the bastion of quality and originality, BLEACH.
@@MantraMan2077 You mean a desert? I mean, I get the joke, but the concept of a main character fighting an "evil/hollow" version of themselves isn't exclusive to Bleach. Get your head out of the anime-sphere.

Ya know. I liked the idea of Eva being a cool warrior angel. Instead what I got was ANOTHER damsel in distress! Their version is WORSE than the canon one! And we never saw her do anything either!
Supplementary material for the original Devil May Cry seemed to heavily imply that Eva was just as much of an asskicker and Sparda was despite being human. There was even an alternate timeline where she became humanity's champion.
@@Gunzerkingidiot not that I don't like that idea but Sparda sealed all of his power into Force Edge so he was probably above peak human with minor magic and highly skilled with weapons when he met Eva.
Watching the base game playthrough, I can see why people legitimately like this game despite its flaws. Watching the playthrough of the DLC, I now understand why people hate this game despite its good points.
'Hollow Vergil' 'Desert Hell' 'White with Yellow and Black Eye.' Did they literally rip off Bleach? Yeah I'm just repeating what another commenter said, but seriously did they?
There's an interview out there of a character designer that worked on "Hollow Virgil" he answered no and claimed that the whole thing was supposed to represent Vergin turning into Nelo Vergin.
Saving sparda is one thing, you could argue he was hidden super hard. But your mom is right there, you could save your mom, who died. I know that hell is corrupting Virgil but man a single scene where he's like "I want power for myself now but it originale was because I could not protect you." Then he sends his mom to earth or heaven. Then he can be like I have no more regrets or attachments cue hollow fight. Ps. Pull my devil nuke.
Wait a minute. How does Vergil have issues with always being in Dante's shadow and all that when they were split apart at the age of 7 (I think it was?) and each had no memory of the other existing until the events of the main game? Or a bit before the game, in Vergil's case. Am I misremembering that plot point, or is this just stupid?
So let me see if I got this straight. Vergil tells the actual spirit of his dead mother he killed his brother to break her heart and server his connection to his apparent humanity or something but the Dante and Kat he killed were just things he made up in his head and therefore are not real. Kind of want to know if Vergil has gone insane and thinks he actually killed Dante and if he did comeback in the sequel how is he going to react to the fact that he just killed a ghost he made up and it was not even close to the real thing. No matter how I look at it Vergil just comes off as incredibly pathetic in this portrayal.
Man seriously, the Bleach jokes are supposed to be Nero's thing and they had to steal that too. Also they knew we wanted to fight their Donte so we could take our frustrations out on him. They knew and gave us the biggest let down. Those lazy bastards.
Woolie's murderboner is SO HARD that he's not fine with merely launching enemies off platforms to kill them. He launches them off and then teleports to them so he can kill them in mid-air personally, even though that means falling off the platform himself. Incredible.
I wish Vergil wanted to rule the world with his brother Dante. Bing back the nephilim kingdom and try to convince other angels and demos to to be on their side and make more nephilim. But Dante refuses and he doesn't want to rule instead of rather let humanity have their freedom. Vergil is is pissed off at Dante for disrespecting their birthright and this was father's plan after Mundus killed all the nephilim against his orders.
I like the way enemies turn off when you don't look at them in Dark Souls. They still do things, they just don't exist, so sometimes they'll ignore the geometry of the level while they're in King Crimson's world.
I feel like this really doesn't really even seem like it's trying to elaborate on what makes Vergil a villain, it's just tossing random negative stuff his way and calling it a downfall. The main story makes him a villain via his desire to control humanity, this suggests that he's jealous of dante and wants to be the strongest, this is just stapling old dmc elements onto a character they weren't meant for.
I think the biggest problem with this game's combat is that Ninja Theory seems to think the best way to challenge the player is to restrict their options. Like almost every single bad gameplay moment can be traced back to fighting enemies that just don't let you do the thing. Even with the coloured enemy thing toned down, you've still got bullshit like this, where the game's like "No, now you need to play like this, fuck you." It's like they didn't realize that freedom in combat is the main thing that makes DMC gameplay good. I'm glad this game exists, just for the sake of conversation and argument. Like it's a great way to highlight exactly what makes good character action games good, because this game manages to do almost everything the exact wrong way.
it's not that they never noticed it before, it's that it's done to an extreme in this game their ais don't turn completely off in other games, just this one
The level 2 judgement cut is actually pretty neat because it's thing is that if you use it in melee range you smack the enemy right into the judgement cut. It's a really fun combo ender.
Spyro The Dragon also has that "off-screen enemies won't attack" thing going on. You could be standing still right next to an enemy and it won't do anything to you as long as you position the camera so it's not visible. Sometimes it can go a step further and they simply won't attack if Spyro himself isn't *facing* them. It's kinda nuts.
Funny thing was, Nelo Angelo had a similar phase where he hovered and threw patterns of Summoned Swords at you.. except you know the attack required skill to avoid and wasn't just waiting for him to come back down?
This entire playthrough just reaffirms my dislike for this reboot. It's definitely more than "ur just mad bout white hair". Thanks for suffering through it for the rest of us.
They already covered this earlier in the LP - almost everyone defending the reboot bullshit either A) Never played the originals and don't understand what made them great, B) Never played the reboots and have no comprehension of how truly bad they are and just want to stick it to people they think are having an unreasonable reaction to a video game, or C) Don't play video games at all and just thrive on the hate and misery of people's subverted expectations. Basically, the same thing the Star Wars fandom is going through right now.
