I recently discovered Cinar's English dub of Ultraseven that was broadcasted on TNT and I instantly fell in love. The goofy dialogue is amazing, so I decided to make a compilation of some of my favorite moments. Enjoy!
3:00 I love how that's the voice they decide to give UltraSeven, I know it was supposed to make him look and sound non-human but it just comes off as unintentionally hilarious.
The funniest part of this is that all these clips were from THE BETTER English dub of Ultraseven! LOL Someone else loaded up the trailer to the upcoming 55th Anniversary Ultraseven short (it's a 7-minute film; a story of a future where Ultraseven DIDN'T come to Earth in the past is what I think it is) but with an English dub that incorporated the dialogue Cinar recorded for the TNT dub. Two of the original Ultraseven cast, the actors who played Dan Moroboshi and Anne Yuri, were asked to come back and they used Deep Fake tech to make them look like their younger selves. There's another version of the trailer uploaded 9 months ago that has narration by Megumi Hayashibara, one of the best-known Japanese voice artists of the last 40 years. I think the film might be uploaded to RU-vid in the fall. In the meantime, there's a 55th Anniversary Ultraseven Blu ray being released next month.
Hot take: Alien Metron had a better voice here than his normal voice actor. The English dub makes him a lot more charming yet sorta evil. I personally think it suits him.
Its really funny, and there were many moments that I couldn’t fit in to this video! It’s an entertaining way to watch the show and it actually made me like Ultraseven a bit more as a series.
You know if Turner had aired this on TBS instead of TNT in America it would have had the honor of airing on two completely different channels called TBS. Also, is this the version of Ultraseven that Space Ghost was talking about?
The original Ultraman dub is my childhood, so I definitely hold that one in high regard. I do agree though, this dub is genuinely funny and makes me enjoy Ultraseven a lot more!
