Thank you for giving me a simple tip which is immediately retraining my body and mind for a proper walking. In my case my knee doesn’t want to bend and I’m lacking full extension. This walking tip seems to retrain that range of motion that I need for proper walking. I just got back on my feet at week 3 and I’m limping around and improving towards week 4. For all those out there suffering, the first 2.5 weeks are the hardest and very emotional. Hang in there
At six weeks post surgery, I am walking more and more and am concentrating on walking normally. I have been stiff legged and need to get back to normal. This tip is a good one.
8 weeks after a TKR, I was surprised to hear that I was still favoring my surgical leg, which I wasn’t bending quite as much. To me it seemed as though I was bending it MORE than the other, because of course I felt every degree of flexion in the new knee, whereas I felt no discomfort in the other. What I like about this particular suggestion is that it not only gives you something tangible to shoot for, but it also directs your attention AWAY from the injury! Clever tip!!!👍🏻
Just had partial knee replacement after waiting nearly 18 months for operation so obviously the limping was bad. Looking forward to trying this out when up and ready to do so. Thanks for the tip…
Thank you so much. Every great teacher focuses the learning on to the most crucial aspect. Your identification of the fundamental behaviour to promote improvement has helped me greatly. Many thanks
Wow! This totally works 😮 At four months with patella fracture surgery and range of motion doing well but leg keeps freezing up by the third step of my walk. Using this seems to be buying me a few more steps, enough to be encouraged. ❤Thank you!
I know you did this video a few years ago; however, it is the most common sense way of walking after knee surgery that I've seen anywhere else. I'm having knee replacement in a few months and I'm saving good ideas on recovery. Well done!
Hi Amy, Hope you are recovering well! I am not sure if you are on Facebook but there’s a Tibial Plateau Fracture group page … so many visuals and helpful tools!
I dislocated my knee and have been walking stiff for 2 months. I can bend my leg but when I walk my brain won’t allow me to walk normally. thank you for this video!
Just got knee surgery on my growth plates put 2 screws inside them to cure my knock knees. Got it last Wednesday and starting to kinda walk but not correctly and I have marching band soon so I hope these work 🤞
Non-displaced TBF of the left knee , no surgery. Had used crutches and 2 weeks ago my PT advised me to use cane. Last week my PT asked me to try to walk without assistive device and I did it unexpectedly. Now, aside from my knee flexion, I want to improve my foot because it hurts when I put too much weight. Any tips?
My left knee was replaced Feb 1st. I had bone-on-bone arthritis in both knees. I think my lower right hip is starting with arthritis, too. My PT told me my hip drops (right), and was was totally confused how to walk normally. I hope this helps.
Hello thank you for your experience after knee surgery. I had partial knee surgery last May with just the removal of some torn off damaged meniscus cartilage pieces in the left knee. I was on oxycodone 600 mg of ibuprofen and Meloxicam.. the Meds have run its course soon after 3 months. Now the pain has returned.. I can hear a bone grinding with bone it's so awful to hear and feel walking so crooked. Last month I just turned 70 and I was a victim of a hate crime with this pizza store owner here in Brooklyn. Where he rammed open widely his store door into my left knee twice when I was sitting down back last March. I'm working pretty much crooked. Now I'm still limping. My body is not working in unison it's out of sync. For 2 months now I'm getting pain in my hips because my walking is out of sync and causing other problems the lower body. Now it feels like I've been sitting on a fence all day. It's now lower back and in my buttocks the pain on both sides. I went to a neurologist where I got two knee gel treatments called Genvisc 850. I need three more. Still walking crooked now with the hips hurting me I feel so pointless to keep living like this. This orthopedic doctor with this new neurologist they haven't been able to explain to me what's going on with my knee.. and how long this will last for the rest of my life it's not acceptable I just don't know how to deal with it yet for this one trying to get ideas on the internet especially walking properly. Thank you I hope you can resolve your knee issues and work properly and in unison again
Thank you so much for this my PT has me so dang confused about walking! And she has me walking so weird that my calves are on fire. Any suggestions on that? I mean my knee isn’t even hurting anymore it’s everything else
Problem is with the crease in your shoe that means you are bending your knee and mine is popping/cracking like crazy. At 50 i'm clueless as what to do next after 2 knee surgeries. Had meniscus trim which changed shape of meniscus and now pain and popping .
