Crappie will start schooling up during the fall when water temperatures drop into the 60s and 50s. A fun way to catch them not only this time of year, but year round, is with two different slip bobber setups. I show you how to tie two different slip bobber setups to fish for crappie in deep water during the fall months.

I've been looking at the ACC Crappie Stix for a while now. I'm guessing you have an older model 8' rod as all the newer ones seem to have the funky looking first guide. That small opening on the first guide seems like it would be an issue using it for a slip bobber rod. Just curious if you have used one of the newer ones with that style guide? Thanks

I think ACC is going back to the old model for the 8ft with the bigger eyelits because a lot of people love that rod for slip bobber fishing

Any issues with bobber stopper going thru rod eyes?
@FloppingCrappie
@FloppingCrappie 2 года назад
The 8ft rod has the larger eyelits, so I normally don't have any issues. Usually the slip knot slides when reeling in a fish, it will get caught in the eyelit of the rod tip. I trick is to give a little slack and reel through the stop so it doesn't catch the top eyelit.

Nice video bro…just got into crappie fishing and can’t wait to hit the water here in Southern California. I recently purchased a acc crappie stick 8 foot super grip and I’m gonna pair it with the piscifun viper x 500 because I like a light feeling setup. I’ve been catching bass and catfish for years but I’ve always wanted to get into more of the crappie, bluegill fishing. Any pointers that could help me out I’m all ears. Thanks again and keep up the creating 😎

I also used your code flopping18 hope you get something out of this 😎

Crappie should be starting the spawn in your area. A bobber and hair jig or plastic set about 1.5-2ft deep, casted against the bank should work. Look for any fallen or hanging over tress near the bank. Any tall weed growth (cat tails) will have crappie holding the edge of them. Basically the same spots you would find spawning bass, you will find some crappie nearby

Hey in your opinion what do you think is better the super grip or the normal 8ft I’m thinking of getting one of em

Been binge watching your videos, they're great. If you had to start over with rods, reels and tackle what would you check those checkboxes with? Everything was stolen out of my boat last weekend and I have have to start over, looking for ideas to prep for spring.
@FloppingCrappie
@FloppingCrappie 2 года назад
Sorry to hear about your stuff getting stolen. If I had to start over I would first get a 7'6" (versatile multi-species rod) and pair it with a 2000 size reel. Here are some discount codes that will help you out 18% off code: Flopping18 for Piscifun (reels I use): . 20% code : DAVIS at crappiemonster.com (crappie plastics and net)

I fished hard for 3 days and only caught 4 crappies. The first day in 8 hours of fishing I caught two on a lake that is 70 feet deep water temp was 59. I caught them suspended in 53 fow down 27 feet deep. That is where the thermocline was at. One died. Caught them on a #3 clown color jigging rap. The next day same lake couldn't get any to bite. Fished 4 hours and not a single bite. Today I changed lakes to a lake that is an impoundment on a river. It is 30 feet at the deepest. I planned to smallmouth fish could not get a single bass to bite. Came across a huge school of crappie. They were from 9-18 fow. Mostly over 4 foot weed bed in 12 fow. Hooked up a minnow tail hooked on a slip bobber and 2 seconds caught a 11" cast again they stole my minnow. So I tried lip hooking and they wouldn't touch it. Put a pink and white tube jig on under a fixed bobber7 feet down and walla a 14". Bam they were done. Tried tons of stuff not another bite. Plus they charged me $20 just to launch. When is this great fall feed. I always read fall is amazing fishing. I can't catch crap in the fall. Cold windy wet and skunked are not good situations.

I thought crappie would come back up in the fall, they’ve been deep all summer haha
@FloppingCrappie
@FloppingCrappie 2 года назад
Typically crappie will move to deeper water in the fall months. On natural lakes they will suspend on hard to soft bottom transitions. These are sand or gravel transitioning to mud or silt. On river systems, crappie can be found on the edge of creek channels, especially if there is standing timber or brushpiles nearby. They stage in these areas until the winter months, when they suspend over the deepest part of the lake or creek channel.

Ya. It’s a slip bobber. Not a “line through” style but it allows line to go freely through it. He used them a lot on this channel. You can use the traditional spring style clamp on them too. I think some of the models he uses even has the option to put the line through also.
