We all need to understand and then make it in to a motion. This drill will give you both.
Online lesson are now a possibility on Skillest: skillest.com/app/profile/marc...
Let me help you get an effortless golfswing with speed and accuracy. I call it the circle of speed. A good release will help you to a better impact and longer drives and irons without slice and hook. How to swing a golf club need to be adjusted to your skill level and experience.
Long and straight is the goal for everyone but it takes time. Try to focus on one thing not everything when you practise. Impact, face control and swingpath will always be the most important part to drill. We focus too much on rotation but no good golf shot will be executed just by rotating.
I’m naturally right handed but all my tips works for both left handed and right handed golfers.
We also need to understand that many myths in golf are misleading. Everything that you find on the internet isn’t true. Ben Hogan, Sam Snead are two of legends that are often misunderstood.
We shall not keep our head still, only start with the hips, look only at the ball or keep the left or right arm straight.
If you use callaway, ping, titleist or taylor made clubs doesn’t matter you can learn to hit good golf shots. Your loft or your shaft on the club will not change but you can always get better.
Find what inspires you. Golf basics are the same for everyone. The pga tour, longdrivers or other good golfers can all help you find better golf shots. Watch what they do instead of listed to what they say. Listen mostly to your body and figure out what you need to do to produce the same results as the pros on TV. Be careful when you watch a golf swing in slow motion. The result isn't always what the golfer is trying to do. Feel and real are seldom the same.
Mike Malaska, Mike Austin, Mike Dunaway, Pete Cowen and Steve Pratt are some of my favorite golf instructors online. Find the tips that make your golf better. Decide what you want to hit. I teach a draw but many like a fade and nobody likes a hook or slice.
Your hips or your lag is not the key to golf. Your hands will decide the shot and you can do like Tiger Woods and trust your hands. Teach your hands to hit different shots. Hit big hooks and slices to understand what happens. Only straight is not gonna teach you anything.
Bryson Dechambeu and Kyle Birkshire can inspire you to hit it longer. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson can give you inspiration and motivation to test new things and new golf shots. Linn Grant, Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg can show you the future of golf.
The Masters, Players Championship, The Players, The Open and US Open can make you love golf even more. See the best in the world solve all the problems we all need to master any golf course. Golf is a craft and you need fantasy, feel and skills to master it.

The mats with sequins that you mentioned are really good to show the quality of strike and location of the low point. I would recommend the ones with a substantial backing to support the sequins. Another great video, thank you!

Hi Marcus! Your an awesome teacher. This is the best drill that You showed me in the lesson, takes focus. The mat and pitching wedge are at my sofa, have all winter to perfect the swing. Lol. Your the only golf teacher that I watch on Utube. Thank You once again.

Thanks mate! 35 years of golf… lessons and still struggled. Lots of you tube over the past 2 years, yet now I can’t listen or watch any other instructors anymore. Now I understand why I hook the ball just 220 yards. Thank you, my friend.

I think if you can execute a drill as described and still make a bad shot its a bad drill. Example is people say hit down on the ball with your iron. The most reliable way for your brain to tell your body to carry out that instruction is to go steep and over the top. I get a lot of out to in divots as a result. Task executed correctly, poor result. Thank you for the insight that its palm down then scoop. This is next level instruction Marcus. Great to see the subscriber base growing. I am really good with driver now thanks to you. Keep it up Marcus

Outstanding instruction again! Can you cover the use of the legs, as in using the ground in the drive? Watching you again I noticed the slight squat you have and I introduced it today and it completed my driving and really improved my drive. Following your instructions it was already getting really good.

My old back and I thank you for your videos, I hit an effortless 230m drive yesterday, which is the longest I hit the ball in years. My average drive is up by 20-30m, and I rarely slice it anymore. By loosening up the wrists, my approach game is also more consistent, and if it wasn't for a few balls mysteriously disappearing in plain sight, I would've hit my lowest score in years.

Hi Marcus I believe you mentioned in another video, that a bit more rotation also helps moving the low point a bit forward in your stance. At least it has helped me, as releasing earlier gets you a shallower angle of attack in to the ball and therefore an earlier lowpoint.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 7 месяцев назад
Absolutely, the landing spot is created with a balance between rotation and arm extension. 👍

Marcus, what iron shaft do you play in your Callaway MBs? I know you said stiff flex..I play S200 in my wedge and they feel amazing. Was considering going to S200 in all my irons due to how good they feel on my full wedge shots. I really feel the scoop with them

This is really the secret to good impact. I feel like my brain tells me to hit the ball and when I do that I release to early. Can an idea be too focus more on the ground infront of the ball to trick my brain into releasing later and get a little weight shift?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 7 месяцев назад
That is the point. If we can focus more on the ground than the ball it will work much better. Keep going. 👍
@robertlingwood3304

do you keep your weight on the back foot and ball placement nearly in line with the back foot for irons and how much further to the front foot for driver
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 6 месяцев назад
I have the ball further back than most golfers but not that far back. I delay weight shift but I move the weight forward. Hi Marcus, thank you for another great video! Will make sure to practice this drill. One question on the release for this with your trail arm at transition point: Do you "throw" your trail wrist and leading wrist to start the downswing first, or do you just extend your trail arm and wait until the trail wrist is lower than the leading wrist (i.e. release) and then push down and out? I am having trouble with this, but I know it is essential for a proper release (with all clubs, really, not just the irons). Thank you again!

I actually only think about the motion of the club. I don't think much about my body parts. I analyze what my body needs to do but when I understan it becomes more club fokus. Move the club how you want it and feel how that feels.

What I don't understand is: how do you do this, and, at the same time, come in shallow to the ball (without hitting the towel)?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 4 месяца назад
Start doing it without hitting a ball. Just do the motion with the club in your hand and you will figure it out. When you can hit the correct spot in the ground without hitting the towel you can start hitting balls. We need to understand the motion and give more time to the figure out part. You will make. 👍
